You hear the snap and pop and a huge crash while the bolt is hitting that only an extremely close bolt would make. Not as close as that baddass beauty the August 8th bolt hit the water about 70-100 yards from where I was standing
@NathanWithrow Should be alot more than that but with the huge gaps between storms this is the best. I mean june 3, 4, 5, then had to wait till june 14, 16, 18, 19, 20. After that had to wait till August 8!!! JULY SUCKED!!!! As aways its good to get a great comment from a fellow storm chaser that knows whats up!
@Krun2k It goes from complete darkness to white brightness and snap crackle and BOOOM! That night held the best storm all year. If we could get storms like this all the time it would be soooo excellent!

You need to get yourself a DSLR and start capturing them on still shots. Think film is addicting....wait until you capture in a photo.
Be safe man. Stay clear of the camera next time. If that step leader connected you would have been fried.
