With regards to the debt, most of the EU's debt is owed to other EU nations and institutions, thus keeping it an internal affair.
The USA on the other hand borrows considerably more from China and Japan than its own coffers.

do you see my picture you moron? its says Bush Wanted. Why do you think EU is so pro-US? Its divided btw. members. Medvedev supports closer ties with EU and Putin established Nato-Russia Council. I disagree with certain EU policies just like I disagree with some Russian and American policies but I think overall it has been good. Look at Ireland, Spain, and others who have prospered. Poland is booming right now. Even Nationalist parties support EU now.

And once you go in you're subject to their laws. If you identify as western that's fine, but you don't have to join the EU to show that.
