My horse tore his suspensory last year and hes a little short stepped in the right hind leg but its not too noticable, also, when he trots his left hind go in a little bit idk why, maybe tyring to take off the weight of the right leg?
she is landing toe first wich can cause strain on her ligaments and her deep flexer tendons. when she lands toe first it is pushing the coffen bone backward and it rubs on the naviular bone and can erode it away, also causing a snap in the fetlock and her bones dont line up evenly. get her a good barefoot trim and an adjustment and see the diference!
Have someone ultrasound the ligaments in his croup. Thats what was wrong with my girl. Docs inj hocks n nothing helped. she doesnt show it as well as your guy does. She had an old injury to the ligament and instead of the fibers being in a straight line, they were mottled and criss crossed indicating scar tissue which caused lack of flexability and actually caused her to partialy tear off the ligament from her hip wing. be happy to discuss her rehab. it took 6 months total. MUCH BETTER NOW!
This looks the way my beastie does when she has an EPSM flare-up. Does her ever lift up his legs and shake them after exercise? That would be a good clue. Diet change (high fat, no sugar) helped Cara in about a month.
It could also be that the angle of the hooves is off. Typically it's good to have the slope of the hoof match the slope of the shoulder joint. A "natural" or "mustang" trim can help.
I hope that your horse is doing better. Did you ever determine the cause of his lameness? I have a 5 yr old gelding with a very similar gait on his right hind, the vets still can't figure out what is going on.
My mare is doing this and has for awhile. I'm pretty sure she has Fribrotic Myopathy. Also, she lowers her head to move out and her neck muscles get tight and hard.
hi. your horse looks like a classic case of EPSM. he is lame but also looks very stiff through his back end in general. llok up epsm online and see if he has any of the other symptoms. i think you may find he will have. if after lloking at it closer you will see it can be controlled through diet. goodluck x
My horse does that. He was also resistant to joint injections. I've had him on liquid joint supplements (kinda spendy) , a light exercise program and have been using magnetic hock boots for a couple of months. I rode him for the first time in 3 months yesterday and he did great. He's not 100% yet, but much improved. I didn't have x-rays, but the vet is pretty sure from the lameness exam that it's hock arthritus.
Sorry, but I havent found out what is exactly wrong. I will let you know when i find out though! Good luck with your horse! Keep me updated if you get an answer also.

Also make sure it's not a stiff back, or that something is out of alignment O_O
