  • how long did it take to build? or u just bought it/ very cool car

  • Haha go gramps!!! Good vid, thanks

  • On sunday this machine goes much faster than on other days, right? ; ))

  • Caterham =)

  • One of the better kitcar video's I've seen for a while. ty for sharing.

  • put your fag out :-)

  • Mentax. I know that speedo and this thing is going from like 40 to 80 in around 1.5 seconds. Great fun.

  • You can build one of these for less than £5k!

  • lol , if that was the true definition of a sunday driver then everything would be dandy. Jeremy Clarkson would be proud.

  • what engine is he running in that?

  • my father has also one :-)

those thngs are the hell on earth O.O

more or less then 440kg an about 200hp :-)

but this one has maby 300hp

  • I doubt 440kg on this one, maybe 600kg. but never say never ;) It goes like hell, mine has a less powerfull engine and weigh around 700 kg and still goes like hell ;D

  • is the locost the same as a katerham, or are they different cars based on the lotus 7? any one know the differences?

  • 1) It is spelled Caterham - like the town it is in

    2) Yes it is a lotus 7 replica

  • Lucky it wasn't made in the German town Fucking. It would NEVER sell.

  • Unless they made a model called the 'fast'!

  • Is this guy not the coolest man you've ever seen????

Look how casually he drives that automobile while smoking that cigarette!

  • Hell ya man this guy is my new hero

  • Horseshit I'd buy one! Cheers!

  • I'm lost for words.. :O

  • and yet you found 4

  • Very very tidy car, were u at stoneleigh '08?

  • Thanks,Yes I was at stoneleigh, Its had a bit of an upgrade since the video was done roll cage new dash and some mods to gain a bit more traction, so I'm surprised you recognized it from the interior shot in the video. I suppose the plenum sticking out the bonnet gives it away a bit!

I really must pull my finger out and do some more.

  • The amount of time i spent in shear awe, i would have spotted it from the sticker on the dash!!!

  • Great vid, I've just got a r1 turbo engine to put into my locost(zx9r at the mo).engine is already beefed up and converted to fuel inj, just wondering what ecu you have and what boost? (mine has been running around 25 psi on the dyno but didn't want to go that high) also what sort of bhp and 1/4 mile times you running?

    ta brif

  • That would be the Ashford Motorsport engine from ebay. Bargain at that price!

mines a 4xv engine with carbs so I'm using standard R1 ecu for ignition 1.7mm headgasket and 12psi of boost.

Had no dyno time yet so an estimate of close to 200hp @ the wheels shouldn't be to far out as for ¼ mile times ill find out at santapod in august!

Good luck with your engine you wont regret it anything over 10psi is mental so your going to have some serious fun with that :-)

  • had it got reverse?

  • No it's not got reverse its easy to push if you need to. was only running low boost when this video was posted I'm running just over twice that now. its undergoing a bit of a rebuild at the moment will post some more videos in a few months.

  • 2:30

    sweeet

  • to bad for all the traffic though he did make short use of them nice job buddy

  • Nice job. Did you upgrade the injectors or add additional ones in the plenum? Are you using a powercommander? I'm currently building an R1 Dax Rush and thinking about going the turbo or supercharger (Rotrex) route at a later date.

  • Its an early R1 engine on carbs so relatively easy and cheep compared with the later fuel injection engines! Good luck with yours.

  • You need a gear indicator, like in a rally car!

  • cant you see above the wheel, he has one

  • Its from a T5 Volvo

  • what turbo you useing?

  • Top stuff, can't wait to finish my blade 7. Vids like these keep me inspired. Sensible driving too.... good to see

  • what engine was used? hayabusa?

  • It Kind of gives it away in the title its a Yamaha R1 engine

  • oh duh.

  • how many hp and who converted the engine?

    thanks

  • All the work was done by me its basically a copy of an mc express bike turbo kit with the manifold and plenum made to fit the car. Its never been on a rolling road but I would expect to see close to 200hp @the wheels

  • do u have maybe plans of suspension u were using in that car? i just wanna to build car like urs . there is a lot of option. what kind of supension in your opinion is the best?? nice car altogh!!!

  • The car was built from a book writen by Ron Champion Its available from "amazon" Search for: Build Your own Sports car

  • ok thans ive seen that book . by friend got one. he biuld locost with sierra engine 2.0 . but he change many things in his construction. including rear susension.

  • Bike Engines in these things are quite popular. they are a bit limited in top speed, but for xcelleration you can't beat'em It's really all about power to weight ratio.

I have a Locost going together right now, Just fitting the 2.3 turbo engine now.....

  • How did you hook it up to turn the tires? Streight axle and chain and sprocket? How heavy of a car? Im wanting to do this.

  • The engine sprocket is replaced with a drive flange then connected to a two piece prop shaft with a sliding joint and a conventional back axle!

Do some searching on the net for bike engined kitcars.

  • Nice. The cheap camcorder worked ok, except for the sound cutting out. Nice drive, though a bit bumpy in parts.

  • Not bad for £20 of ebay shame about the sound the editing wasn't to good either but it was only a test anyway!

Will spend a bit more time on the next one!

  • Over taking at 2:32 is pure sex. im sure the guy you overtook was quite surprised.
