Love this-grab the book and read just this part, if nothing else. Goes into descriptions of "light vs heavy" pie types and more about the politics behind the contest (sounds boring; it ain't). My husband entered a pie contest as a tiny kid; everybody else ate like these contestants, he took his fork and slowly enjoyed his portion; he just wanted some dessert. Mission accomplished. I cried the first time I watched it, and to this day the ending still makes me sad, especially considering what happened to River Phoenix.
