Ts are inverts and they can't digest calcium well and all it does store it in the exoskeleton and becomes rock hard. When it molts it can't break out and it dies. Its hard since you liked Satan, but let this be a lesson to you.

If he died because of over feeding him, then I feel bad. But when I fed him, he did not eat the whole mouse. at least half of the carcass would be left behind.

Its a combination of over feeding and using and mice. I own 130 Ts currently in the span of 17 years and my goliaths are fed 2 superworms once every 2 weeks (when I post mine eating). That's more than enough to keep them all happy.

I'm not sure if you read any books on them, but mice should rarely be offered. Once or twice a year max, not every week. Whether or not it ate the whole thing or not it still ingested a massive dose of Calcium, which are very dangerous to any species.

continued. This is a great hobby where people learn all the time and we all make stupid mistakes at some point. I've done a few myself. And this is why people like me post videos on how to really take good care of them.

I'm not sure if you more Ts since this vid but If you do plan on getting another T.stirmi (a true T.blondi has knee hair, stirmi doesn't and that's what Satan was) consider getting a small roach colony or use superworms. Much more healthier than mice.

You touched some on good points, but a few things to clarify

1) while most Ts are easy to care for...goliaths are harder...they need an insane amount of humidity and warm temp

2) Your statement that males are more aggressive than females is NOT TRUE at all since I have a pair of goliaths and the male is more defensive than the female equally as. Individuals specimens will vary.

umm....I said females are more aggressive than males, and that is why I went with a male instead of a female. Satan was my first tarantula that was of an aggressive species.

Still false. Individual specimens vary. Sometimes you'll get mean males and other times aggro females. I've had calm females of Indian ornamentals (known aggressive species) and have a very defensive male.

Its always best to get females. As you say they live longer, plus they're better for collections if you have no plans on breeding. Males are only used for breeding, that's why their lifespans are shorter. I always loan off my males or breed them myself to get slings

I mean...a few times when trying to pick him up, at first he would acted mellow like he was going to let me hold him. But when my hand got close to his front, he would 'rear up' and make a strike. I have been lucky enough to get my hand out before he 'tagged' me.

Well, I am happy I found this video.

I'm glad that SOMEONE knows the damn difference between an ALLERGIC reaction and a frickin' VENOM bite.

Secondly, my friend has a Red knee tarantula to which she really loves a lot. And personally; the fuzzy bastard's kinda cute in his on way. And by posting up a video like this helps kinda ease that huge dislike on spiders a little bit.

I want a cobalt blue, I love there color so much.

I'm not sure how long it really took for satan to adjust to me...I didn't hold him for a few months.  "Holding my goliath" is the very first time I held him. One of the reasons it took so long for me to hold him was; I was scared that if he bit me, I would flinch(unexpected pain), he would go flying across the room & get killed. I probably could have held him much sooner.
