  • Why can't everyone shut up and enjoy the mother Fu***n music

  • I will hold a grudge on anybody who dislikes this video!

  • the background makes me think of wizard of oz

  • Like if you're here because of Susan Boyle lol

  • well. and what's matter if Susan Boyle are not the singer of this song? xD she makes the best cover!!!

  • The real hero is Jean Valjean (known by his prison number, 24601), who becomes a force for good in the world, but cannot escape his dark past... so so Am here because of Victor Hugo !!!

  • Not to be a hater but this song is horrible!

  • Not because of Susan Boyle, but Lea Salonga.

  • im doing this for my solo ensamble this year:)

  • Eponine and I have so much in common...

  • I love this song!

I have to sing it in my singing lessons :')

I'm so shit compared to this -.-

  • There is no need to be rude -- and, really, who is the uncultured swinish "bit**" here who uses such vulgar language? Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, but you obviously do not agree, so I am not going to waste any more time. Perhaps you are a trained opera singer, and if so, good for you, but I pity you for being such a mean person.

  • @klforrey You clearly have no idea of what real music is supposed to sound like then. Perhaps you should spend less time bashing people with real voices, unlike that gargoyle Susan Boyle's, and more time listening to this song and learning how it is supposed to be sung.

  • Why are there Susan Boyle fans commenting about how amazing she is here? If you love Susan Boyle then whatever, but fuck off to a Britain's Got Talent video and dribble over her all you want there; but for now, leave me and my other Les Mis fans to enjoy a good, wholesome video without the comments being clogged up with shit about that Boyle bitch and how she's apparently 'better' than the great Patti Lupone, because I'm sorry but that's just sick.

  • I like the original, Lea Salonga's , and Susan Boyle's version equally. @frozenknickers123 the only bitch here is you. Don't you realize because of her, more people started liking this song and more people has recognized the Les Miserables. So what if people comment about Susan Boyle? She proved looks doesn't matter and she picked this song for a reason you know! And I don't think a person has commented that Susan's was better than this. But if there was, so what? We can have our own opinions.

  • Ooh I luuuv this new look on YouTube!! :D

  • I am here because we played this song in Marching Band for Homecoming night. ;p

  • i am here because of Susan boyle

  • why does these songs a just 300k views, and some artificial bitches have 100 mil views,:s,

  • @darkinstinctful123 well ppl from the new generation hasn't heard the original one and has heard the one sang by Lea and Susan. And if you're talking about Susan Boyle, shes not a bitch but showed not to judge a book by its cover.

  • what a beutiful song ...

    it's so perfect

  • This is sang by FANTINE Dumbasses!!!:D

  • I have'nt seen the musical:( just the movies. Is this song sung bu Cossette?

  • @Hellarisa maybe fantina

  • But there are dreams we cannot dream

And there are storms we cannot weather

    Life SUCKS.

  • @Freddy3740 you sure know how to spread hapiness to your fellow man. :b

  • whats wrong with those 16 people that disliked this masterpiece?

  • I sang this song in 6th grade choir

  • this song makes me wanna cry

  • I'm singing this song for Districts competition this year, I'm very excited

  • So pure.

  • I'm singing this tomorrow for a talent show. One of the best songs from the best musical <3

  • Um, the lyrics do not show...there is a much better version someone put up with the lyrics matching Ruthie Henshall's voice to a tee. Don't know who this is, it's nice vocally but no lyrics??? They are not in the right box as stated.

  • this song is so good

  • There are NO lyrics on this version and I shouldn't have to search to find them. LEAVING NOW!!!!

  • @scrab132 the lyric is under the detailed description of the video

  • @scrab132 Mind the door doesn't hit your backside on the way!

  • like if your not here cos of susan boyle. -.-

  • @lilmissdevil20 I am here because of Susan Boyle.

  • @lilmissdevil20 I'm not here because of susan boyle.....I'm here because of glee:P:D

  • @reperitza

fair enough, i wish more people were here because of les miserables though. i performed in it recently, and yaknow! its an amazing show, and this song is a credit to it. dont mean to sound like im like 80.:L im thirteen, but this show is actually amazing. i'm glad glee done it. shows it hasnt been forgotten.

  • @lilmissdevil20 I'm from Europe and honestly I had no idea what "les miserables" was until glee.... so yeah I'm pretty thankful to this awesome show that introduced me into the fantastic world of Brodway musicals!:D

    Thank you Glee!

  • @reperitza

well however you learnt about broadway music congratulations! im a normal teenage girl, also from europe-england, and i can tell you, i cant imagine how sad my life would be without music, especially broadway. music builds my life, im a jls fan, a broadway fan, ed sheeran, i like indie, and pop and rock! any music that can change your mood and really speak to you is good music. and i think sometimes broadway is the best thing for it!

  • @lilmissdevil20 whats the problem of being here because of Susan Boyle? she is a great singer and a lot of people got to know this amazing song because of her. stfu and enjoy the music

  • @NelinhaJ

stfu and dont get cocky to me. if you do notice my comment has 236 likes and yours has 0. if people are here because of susan boyle well good for them! but the song is originally from les mis, one of the most respected plays in england and it doesnt get enough credit. i have respect for her for making the song more famous and all that, thats great, and im glad she did it, yeah shes a great singer, but people think the song is hers, and its not. so dont get loud to me, and shutup.

  • Patty Lupone will always be the best Fantine for me. She's the only one who can deliver this song. She justified the pains and the desperation and bitterness that was Fantine. I haven't heard anyone who bested this one. You listen to the song and you will feel the silent cry for sympathy of Fantine. Just perfect.

  • I love how she sings "But the tigers come at night" in this version. Sounds like something from old Egypt. It's mystical. The whole song is beautiful.

  • perfeita!!!BR perfect!!!US parfait!!!FR

  • i wish this song in voice of Sarah Brightman

  • @100stacy - I wish for Sarah Brightman!

  • Guess we all dreamed a dream ...

and will always dream a dream to combat the hell we really live in ....

  • I love Les Mis...read the book and want to read it again.

  • @ambereyes93 Is the book in french or english??

  • Comment removed

  • @suikidog It's on the drop-down just below the vid.

  • Singing a solo in my choir's broadway concert of this song :D

  • I love this song, this musical is amazing! :) One of the best!

  • I love this song so much <3

  • Ha, Me and my mates are thinking of singing this for our annual school talent show

  • I love this song, thanks for uploading, yadda yadda, but where are the lyrics?

  • @xiradasend in the description.

  • Beautiful...

    Simply Beautiful

  • we had to sing this in choir

  • Boyle ruined this song !

  • @nicolaskittle are you on drugs? Seriously, legit question after a comment like that.

  • @3010M im just stating my opinion and i think that she has spoiled a really beautiful song. and no im not on drugs.

  • @nicolaskittle No my friend you have. It's people like you that judge others and kill peoples dreams. If she ruined this song, why did she get a standing ovation from an audience from the country that the play was produce in? You my friend need to get a heart. She changed it, but didn't ruin it.

  • @somekidwithanm4 she only got a standing applause because noone was expecting it to come out of her. they were applauding her voice not the song and i still think that she has ruined the song. And most people that go to see BTG or X Factor have no idea about music and had probably never heard the song before so cant compare it.

  • @nicolaskittle ok man whatever floats your boat

  • i love this song! i love the musical <3 <3 <3

  • "Now life has killed the dream"....

  • Two words: Ruthie Henshall.

  • ", who sang this..?

  • @falutak Patti LuPone. But Ruthie Henshall is much, much better. (:

  • This brings me to tears.

  • i love this song :D

  • Excellent one !

  • i am a massiive glee fan but this is just an amazing song and ii dont thiink that anyyonee could re-do it bettaa, even susan boyle. just myy opiiniion tho, not knockiin anyone elses xx

  • this song makes me cry...... i can relate soooo much :(

  • very nice song and the lyrics are genius

  • such a beautiful song!:)

  • Patti LuPone singing this is TERRIBLE!

  • najbolje ikada srocceno..

  • i think the differenc eis in the iting they showed on the video. did susan ever sing the complete song. ive only heard the one off the show. bits in pieces. i like this one better. i think susan added to much vibrato to her voice. but its still good

  • i like this version better! the originals are always better, plus this version she sounds more distressed, like its supposed to be sung.

  • we are doing this play at our school, i am assistant stage manager :)

  • @oneperfectprincess awesome me 2, im auditioning for this role, VERY tough

  • @zizone56 good luck :)

  • @oneperfectprincess thank uuuuu, as to u :)

  • I Think Susan Boyle Is Better.

  • yes she is...

but i dont think this is bad too..

  • singing this for a music competition too . . omg!!

  • Heartthrobber! dis bloody song gets me straight to cloud nine.. Cant stop listening to this album, downloaded it @ DownloadMusic/./im , (remove the slashes) keepin listening to it wherever i go :)

  • I am so pissed that I'm going to miss out on my school's production of Les Mis, in which I was set to play Fantine. If only I were going to Denmark a term later!

  • I have seen this play 3 times in my whole life and i love it

  • I worked at the Ordway Theatre in Saint Paul Minnesota an watched the play 75 times and would watch it 75 more time...what a great performance. Not a dry eye in the house!!!!

  • @vitelloelanao Wth u talkin about i go there see no that movie lol

  • I love this song <3 -xx

  • who´s singing ?????

    quem esta cantando???

  • now i sung it, ll i sung untill the whole class can hear

  • this song is amazingg. Im singing it with my singing teacherr. (:

  • whose voice is that?

  • the lyrics are at the right hand side in the info box, if you couldn't find them

  • In a Musical Play like "Les Misérables" the verses of a song are called LYRICS. If you read it carefully you´ll find out that the song is a Poem written for a lover that left beloved one after the summer time. By the way, have you seen "Les Miserables" Musical or read the book of Victor Hugo? You could have a look at "The Oxford Dictionary of current English" if you are still doubtful.

  • @leeBwatson, idk how that post got there, my dad or sister probably logged in as me to watch stuff on youtube. knowing my dad, that's the kind of comment he would post, not me! i like the song!

  • Lovely song. The lyrics make you think of people that value others because of how they are dressed up or the titles they have. What a shame that that some people do not value a persons heart & feelings.

  • This song reminds me of Abby's story off of the biggest loser season 8

  • I love this song i first time heard the song just now my vocal teacher give me hear it was macnifik

  • no thanks.

  • why listen to it then?

  • @preetydog123 This song is a gret song u BS, I am the president of My company YBS That spells( You Bull Shit )

  • I didnt really care, but u could of been more nice, thats all i'm saying.

  • Thi is my favorite play other than Billy Elliot! It is so beautiful! very depressing, but beautiful none the less

  • I dreamed a dream that little white boys and little black boys could play together

  • @AgentChip i had the same dream and woke up sweating and screaming.

  • I can listen this song over and over. It never gets boring. If i could sing, i would definetly wanna sing this song!

    xx

  • god, i'm in tears..

  • What a beautiful song.

  • this song is good, susan boyle really sings this well

  • susan gave new lease to the song, but this was what brings out the heart-wrenching experience of fantine. susan makes one's heart comes alive, while this tears it to pieces.

  • You have captured the feeling perfectly with your words. Thanks.

  • I must say susan boyle's version is far better than this....I appreciate the original singer making and singing such a beautiful song for us, its heart touching

  • wtf?? rhiannas version?? this is from a musicall i haven't heard rhianna singing musicals

  • THIS IS SUCH A GOOD SONG T.T

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • I love this song and I think its so cool to here it in its original cast.

  • This is lovely though I love Lea Salonga's version, very touching. :)

  • The woman that sings this songs has a lovely voice, but I must say Susan Boyle's version is better - there is so much power in her voice throughout the performance. Really moving

  • This is Patti Lupone singing...lol

  • wer are the lyrics????

  • They are on the side in the gray box. hit (more info) in the parenthesis

  • in the info bit

  • luv it!

  • so beautiful

  • When I herd this...I got goose bumps....Then tears came to my eyes. Thank you for posting this.

  • There was a time, when men were kind

    And their voices were soft

    And their words were inviting

There was a time, when love was blind

And the world was a song

    And the song was exciting

There was a time it all went wrong

  • I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high and life worth living I dreamed that love would never die I dreamed that God would be forgiving Then I was young and unafraid And dreams were made and used and wasted There was no ransom to be paid No song unsung, no wine untasted But the tigers come at night With their voices soft as thunder As they turn your hope apart As they turn your dreams to shame
  • He slept a summer by my side He filled my dreams with endless wonder He took my childhood in his stride But he was gone when autumn came And still I dream he'd come to me That we would live the years together But there are dreams that cannot be And there are storms we cannot weather I had a dream my life would be So different from the hell I'm living So different now from what it seemed Now life has killed the dream I dreamed
  • i agree with Sparklyrainbow

  • people thought susan boyle was so amazing cos shes ugly.

If she was pretty she wouldn't have got as far,

  • you're right...

  • sorax`s sis talking; i love the song. im ususally more into rock and metal but you need to relax sometimes ppl! Ppl keep saying that i sound better than her. YEA RIGHT!!! They wish!

  • Wish people'd stop arguing about Susan Boyle and the professionals =\

Really, stop comparing either to or. All it does is cause a fight.

    Crazy over, comment now. |D

I learned to love this song, after one of my school's choir concerts. One of the girls in my A Capella Choir class did this, as one of the solo acts... And she did it BEAUTIFULLY. I love this song. ^^

  • all the versions are good, but the best is definately ruthie henshall at the 10th anniversary that was absoloutly amazing, her control and power is on point the whole performance and she tells the story of the song with her voice, a pure emotionally performance but all the same amazing!

  • its really pretty!! i saw this in london in 1985. it brings back memories!! XD

  • She sang very well.

I didn't know the meaning of the song until now.

Really sad but it is a very good song.
