  • I saw REo speedwagon play live ebfore they had a hit with HI infedelity.....

I prefer this particular line up....

Gary Richrath & kevin cronin always have been my favorite members

  • RITCHRATH & RORY GALLAGHER TOGETHER WOULD HAVE BEEN UNSTOPPABLE. CHECKOUT MOONCHILD,SHADOW PLAY'

  • *sigh*...Whatever happened to Our Music? This song still gives me goosebumps. Thanks!

  • great song

  • Saw these guys on TV a few months back and they can still kick butt

  • I saw REO twice: at Assembly Hall in Champaign, and Deer Creek in Noblesville....great great show...what a band!!

  • 8 people really did not roll with the changes.

  • Gary Richrath,nuff said.

  • @tgtrmn1 yeah.....

  • where did you find this version of this song I found this a few years ago and i lost my copy of it

  • Driving with this playing all the up will GET YOU A SPEEDING TICKET! But i wouldnt know anything about that!

  • @Patriotsfan1975

Oh my god!! I'm not the only one that this has happened to! Of course, not that I would know ANYTHING about that!

  • @stuckinorf LOL Too funny!

  • Great guitar

  • why the fuck would you dislike this.. you are fucked up in the head if you do that. God bless REO.

  • Rockers. One and all.

  • The 70's were so great.

  • One of the greatest rock songs of all time. Why?? Becasue you can not play it loud enough. The great songs require tons of amps and speakers.

  • keep on rolling

  • my fav song...kep on rolling...life goes on bitches

  • Watch AMANDA OVERMYER and GARY HIGGINS sing and play this same cover song ROLL WITH THE CHANGES while they were on a Western Tour promoting their new Album SOLIDIFY (itunes). You can watch Overmyer's version also over the YOUTUBE ...

  • REO just isn't the same since Cronin kicked out Richrath. Cronin, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? Kicking Gary out was the WORST thing you could have done. All of REO's albums (since Gary's departure) have FAILED to even chart!!!

  • Seen 'em about half a dozen times around the Rockford, Illinois area, they were always regular and affordable until they went all bubblegum with Hi Infidelity and became a commercial success. If you ask me their best stuff was from Nine Lives and before.

They could bring down the house in the late 1970's....any house, I seen 'em outside, inside, and in small theatres. They were great...thanks.

  • I remember this concert well. Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow (Ronnie James Dio vocals). I was so close Gary's sweat was hitting me. There were cameras everywhere filming for the "Midnight Special". At the end of the show I nabbed a drumstick thrown in the crowd. Used it as a window stop at my first apartment in Springfield, MO. Forgot to take it wth me when I moved. Thanks for the post!

  • Fuel for the soul! I still listen to this song on a regular basis and always inspires and energies me.

  • This song was one of my favorites in High school along with "Aleha" by Donnie Iris.

It takes me back to sophmore year 1981-82 back in California.

I was the only black guy that liked this kind of music back then...lol!!!

  • Gary Rossington, what was I thinking? Sorry! You CAN see Larry and I at 2:28 and 5:45. He is the big guy in the overalls. This was the forth and final time I saw REO. Still have the concert ticket delano if you want to see it. Ask anybody from Lexington, MO if that is us. Also in the "Say You Love Me" video on here.

  • this song is awesome...

  • He's right Gary rossington was the lead guitar for lynrd skynrd. He and artimus Pyle are the only remaining members. Gary survived the plane crash.

  • fantastics song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lipsinked. Come on guys, I gotta call BS on this one. You guys were better than that !!!!

  • I was at this concert. It was filmed for the 'Midnight Special' 9/22/78 at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, MO. I was standing in close enough to Gary Rossington to feel his sweat. There is a crowd shot of me and a friend at 5:45-5:50 looking to our left, probably at a girl. My friend was killed 3 years later. It was exciting to find this footage.

  • @pacoskey its gary richrath not rossington

    rossington was in skynyrd

  • @pacoskey Yeah, and that's me sitting up at the top row, next to the spotlight.

  • Great song

  • This song makes me smile forever and always

  • Love it - they don't make music like this anymore. Good Stuff!

  • You can tune a piano but you can't tuna fish : )

  • follow this ..l..

  • stacy was a slut

  • love it... gives me chills... if I could just find my friend Stacy.... this was our song... high school.. in a pinto!!! lol...

  • At 3:42 my delight starts for its peak! along with Let's Be-Bop, Keep the Fire Burning, Take it on the run and In your Letter this tune is one of my best, but as I have rolled with the changes I've learned to love other songs, too. Go on rolling!

  • Closes to the CD? Thats because they put the CD sound into this video.

  • Best Rock song EVER. I still get chills at the guitar solo. And this is the best live version I've seen, matches CD almost exactly.

    Rock On!

  • i think this is the studio version dubbed over footage of a live concert. doesnt matter though because i like this song. i saw REO in 1980 i think. somewhere around that time.

  • best version of this i've seen yet! thanks ad2006k64!

  • this looks late 70's

  • Why do PEOPLE have to constantly be critical of a music video? It's lip synched, not live? @ 5:50 you can see the audience from the band's point of veiw.....Wait, now I am staring to argue!

Just ENJOY, how hard is that?

  • two guitars on the lead...one last sustaining note while second guitar begins next lick....so....

  • You are an idiot my friend, he was that good to recreate the same rhythm as on the album. If you were old enough to know his and the bands history you would no that fact, KID!

  • I'm 51

  • Lip sync, clear as day. Check out the Midnight Special version. That one is alot better.

  • its not lip sync.

Lips ync is when band imitates playing and singning when the phonogram is sounding.

Here we can see that someone removed original live audio from actual concert with stuio version of this song.

When You watching the picteure, its clearly can be seen that band there played live.

Perhaps somewhere must be video with actual live sound.

  • This I Beleive Is Actual Concert Audio Just Cleaned Up For A Live Album , Then Redubbed Over Obviously Concert Footage, And Released As An Official Video...

  • This song has one of the best solos ever.

  • Gary Richrath is a rock GOD!!! One of the best guitarists ever. This band went downhill fast after he left. When I was in high school and for a couple of years after graduation they were on top of the world. I saw them live in Hawaii when I was stationed there in the early 80's.

  • Love the song! Love the band! I miss the 80's bands!!!!

  • Its a realy good song!

  • I wish to God that some of today's music would sound half as good!!!

  • Snazzy,now theres a word I havent seen in a {few} years sportfans.

  • i saw them its was great time thank brian

like other band i seen i was a part in a band wild time very kewl

  • It's music, you listen to it, not watch it.

  • black and white are just snazzy.

  • Hey redden......this is not recorded live......the song you are hearing is from the album (You can Tune A Piano..., etc etc.)....I've seen this video in color before, but I just cant remember.......it was in the '70s, but of course now that I'm 53 my mind goes blank sometimes................dont be mislead by the phoney audience in the background. This version was NOT live.

  • I saw them at The Wild Goose, aka. Sherwood Club, in Schererville, IN around 71.

    Excellent!!!!!!!

They had the place ROCKIN' !!!!!!!

  • It might have been filed in the Nine Lives tour, but it's obviously the original recording dubbed with some voices and audience noise. The only live performance with Richarth I've found is the Live Aid video, which was pretty rough but still has his original live guitar - blows away any other version out there.

  • This was during their Nine Lives (1978) Tour...what a concert! Molly Hatchet open the show and it remains one of the best shows I have attended, wow! In the Top 15

  • excellent shots of Gary!! Kick ass song!

  • This sucks. It's a great song, but this is not a live performance.

  • Put a joint in your mouth and it will feel like your in the front row bro!!!

    Holy Contact buzz Batman

  • my sentiments exactly!

  • obviously an earlier version of a vid shoot, when they actually played the songs, then dubbed over them not like now when they get you to perform to the song.

  • check out the hair, cool, great song and video

  • What concert is this from?

  • I heard this song on an episode of My Name is Earl and I though it was awsome...

  • Fanfuckingtastic

  • According to Wikipedia, when this song was released, it only made to #58 on the charts. Unbelievable.

  • This song never gets old.

Another song on the soundtrack of my life.

One of the best songs written and performed anytime, anywhere, by anyone!

    Love you Gary and Alan!

  • i waa these guys about 5 or 6 times in late 70's and early 80's. my son i think was conceived after one of their concerts. one of my favorites.

  • @Autumnstar1205 I agree with you My Friend!!!!

  • This is all I have to say..... WHOOOO! Damn was that great!

  • I so miss the 70's we had the most inspiring music ever

  • It's the bottle, not the table. He needs thanks, honor and help, not criticism.

  • We all need help to stop drinking

  • If I watched this footage a million times, I'd still want to watch it again. When Gary looks at the camera and says "Baby", it just slays me every time! Nobody plays like Gary.

  • Please come back Gary!!!

  • Man if only I could play guitar like Gary......

  • Great

  • Freakin' awesome!

    Love love love!!! 5*****

    Thanks for posting.

  • I love you K. I am always with you; always.

  • sprechendeutscht..or whatever.... ur nam is. take in the roots of rock and roll.

  • Great song but Cronin is such a geek. "Gentlemen, shall we attempt this one?"

    LMAO.

  • Good song ...

    REAL good song ...

  • I really miss Gary!!

  • shall we attempt this one

  • I love that

  • i'm going to go see REO tonight! i'm pretty excited. we'll see if they kept it up!

  • how was it?

  • it was pretty good! it was really really loud. loudest concert i've ever been to. but it was really fun. they are trying to promote their newest album. the older stuff was better.

  • Kevin Cronin kicked ass on don't forget the lyrics

  • that was like 5 months ago.

  • Something like that

  • Does anyone know if this particular concert is on dvd or video anywhere for sale?

  • awesome

  • KINGS!!!!

  • I Love that Hammond organ solo in it. Probably the best part of the song!

  • ROLL WIT THE CHANGES BABY-

  • one of the greatest songs from one of the greatest bands. Roll on w/the changes boys.

  • Just saw REO tonight..still amazing!!! LOVE this song!

  • Awesome--hope to see them again... this song also w/few other's got me thru some tough times as a teen.. will send this song to my son's high school graduation theme page..

Soo glad all "my favs" are back again..took son to Rush.. recently.. He loves it all, right w/Dime, Zakk, Ozz, COB.. etc..

    Thanks for the post!!!

  • first concert I ever saw - LA in 78

  • lovein this classic reo is the shit well in my youth ha- im an old geezer but young at heart

  • I am not sure if I am ready to roll yet-- but I hope very soon I am---

  • ha so long as you keep on rockin yer roller effect will come automatically

  • Whoooo

  • bring back the good 'ol days

  • Energetic Indeed

  • Amazing, simply astounding!

  • REO is still livin on!

  • He was fantastic on Don't Forget The Lyrics

  • the organ and piano together then the guitar comes in ......yesssssss makes me feel like im a freshman in high school

  • I never realized that this song was so old, but is still rocks

  • i saw REO last night with styx and def leppard in estero, FL. What a blast! they all sounded great and it was a helluva good time

  • I'd like to see def leppard. How long did they play? They just played here in NC last Thursday.

I'm partial to REO when Gary was playing guitar like in this video.

  • def leppard played 12 to 15 songs for about 60 to 75 minutes. they were a rock 'n roll machine. go see them

  • reo is still alive

  • Gary is the man!! Kevin has not done a damn thing without Gary. Kevin killed REO when he got control over the band in the early 90's. All Kevin can do is milk the old songs that Gary wrote for money now.

Thanks for posting this video. It is great to hear the real REO.

  • REO Speedwagon REO ROKS!

  • Great band,,,,,,,,,,nice hair

  • This is the absolute definition of Classic Rock! Period.

  • i get to see them in ottawa canada april 12th at the scotiabank place along with styx and def lep my youth will be back for a short time yaaaaaaa babeeeee

  • This was one of my first favorite rock & roll songs, and it's almost lost. Listen to it sometime on stereo. It's a great dance tune. So much for one's wasted youth.

  • this is a great song to be driving to!

  • Great hair lol.

  • Great song!

  • Gary was, and always will be an amazing guitarist...enough said.

  • I forgot how much this song kicks ass. It's almost time to roll down the windows & let 'er rip!!!!

  • lol

    I feel ya!

  • I laugh now. I used to call my older sister and OREO because when she was a teen all I ever heard her say was OOOOOOHHHH REO!

  • i met kevin Cronin and Gary Richrath and band back stage in late 1980s seemed like real nice guys i got a pic with the band there drummer gave me one his drum sticks

  • GORGEOUS men, great music, fabulous hair!

  • Obviously the studio recording dubbed over concert footage - still excellent tho

  • "Keep on smokin' keep on smokin' whooooo whooooo whooooo, keep on smokin' keep on smokin' whooooo whooooo whooooo!"

  • Whooooo whoooo whoooo, Yeah buddy! Remember that shit?

  • Looks like the "9 Lives Tour" about 2 years before they hit it big with the Hi-Infidelity Album.....still a excellent song! To bad they went down hill after Kevin got his big ego, and fired Gary. Thats why they can't sell cd's anymore and have to tour small arenas. Maybe Kevin should eat a little crow and patch things up.

  • With all due respect to Gary, he was a hopeless alchoholic and that, not Kevin's ego, probably had more to do with his demise than anything.

  • Yeah..you are right...but People change over time....I am sure Kevin has had a few issues of his own. It's just to bad they have failed to stay where they were in the mid 80's. Being from the East Peoria area (Gary's hometown)...the community has always supported REO..... and the(old) music will always rock

  • I really feel bad for Gary. He was living here in southern california after he was fired from REO. He was riding his bicycle around town because he wasn't allowed to drive because of all the DUI's. he was jamming with local teenagers. nice guy but just lost. I haven't seen him around in 10 or 15 years so I don't know if he still lives around here. OK, now I'm depressed. lol

  • I don't agree - from what I've heard, they've all had their problems, especially Neal Doughty who was in a mental hospital at one time. They supposedly rallied around him, but when Gary needed them, where were they? Also, Kevin latched onto a health regime, like the rest, and got mad when Gary didn't follow it. There has to be more to this.

  • What's not to agree with? Did you not see what I wrote? He LIVED here. He was jamming in a band with kids. He was riding a bycicle around to and from bars. Dude was a complete mess.....rock bottom. This was in the 1990's. Based on what I saw then, I'm shocked dude is still alive. I hope and pray he has gotten help and climbed out of that bottle. Would be great to see him back in REO someday happy and healthy. He was my favorite member. Love his effortless playing style.

  • He's my favorite too, and I'm very upset he was in that state. I'm just saying his departure from the group may have also included other things, not just his condition. Did you see the VH1 on REO? Gary seemed in alot better condition. From what I've heard, I think he's ok now, I pray for him also. Sorry for the misunderstanding! :-)

  • 4 the record Gary didn't just get let go because of Kevin's or other band memebers egos, he self destucted like many rockers after touring so long. Gary got into boozing & the drug scene in the early 80s & it just got out of hand, he also balloned to almost 300lbs in the early 90s & then just went into reclusion for the next 8yrs or so. He'll occasionally play a small bar gig in Cali, but there's little to no chance he'll ever tour again, that's as much his choice as it is the other guys.

  • Still the best song ever

  • Regardless, its an awesome song and they were great in their day!!

  • If there is somebody who doesn't realize that is the studio sound over a synchronized live show... Buy yourselves some ears...

    Anyway, this song is awesome.

  • its a studio recording played to a live video

  • no their just that good

  • Is this lip-synched? Because, except for the audience, it sounds EXACTLY like it does on the album "You Can Tune a Piano, But You Can't Tuna Fish", which is the album on which it was first released.

  • I keep listening to different live takes of this. As a big fan of 60s era rock...beatles, Who, Cream, Zepplin...it's really hard for any 70s. 80s band to compare with them...this is one of the rare exceptions, this band is tight, the vocal style of Kevin is original, Gary is phenominal...doing justice to their gread predecessors. My only regret is that as an engineering nerd, missed their concert while at the Uof A in tucson (had to study...wish i'd flunked just to see them live)

  • I just love Kevin's vocal style, how he draws out the end consonants as long as humanly possible, especially R's.

"Until you poured on me like a sweet sun showerrrrrrrrrrrr..." *lol*

  • i didn't know Howard Stern could sing.

  • Now that's funny.

  • this is the only version of this song I have ever heard. is there a studio version? my favorite song of their's along with riding the storm out, which I also only know of as a live recording. So much better than the cheesy stuff they made in the 80s...

  • I'm about 98 % sure this is the studio versio synced with a live version, cause it sounds just like the one off "You Can Tune a Piano but you can't tuna fish"

  • did the female background vocals give it away?

  • Nice Pants!

  • Anyone know when this video was done and if it's available anywhere on dvd or vhs?

  • Look at a picture of Kevin Cronin and Gary Ritchrath now compared to what they looked back in '77 or '78 when this was recorded - my they have changed !

  • What possessed Kevin Cronin to frost his hair?
