  • This song is for me!

  • This is my favorite video...I was an MHS "band geek" from way back. It is so fun to see a couple people from EC doing so well and showing up on the Grammy list. I'd like to think that our time interupting your classes w/ the"Bud Band" and pushing the limits w/ the "ghetto band" had some impact... WWMD (What Would Marv Do)...best teacher I ever had!

  • i totally forgot this was a high school performance for a second. it was that good.

  • can u imagine the feeling he felt..... holy shit what a performance...

  • cool as shit!

  • goosebumps

  • Damn this is awesome.

  • I Love how he is from EC, he is usually around town sometimes, hanging out in coffee shops, ive seen him a few times. But Justin is just really cool. and Memorial isn't 100% "lucky" he is from there, and i what i recall is he is from Memorial, so im sure the school got in touch and asked, He does concerts in Altoona for free, ive been to many of them myself.

  • This is way too awesome. I can't believe this guy is so cool he'd go to a highschool and play with the jazz ensemble. Major thumbs up for him.

  • that's awesome

  • this is epic

  • I had a High School Show Choir performance on this stage......who'd a thunk...

  • amazing! beautiful! absolutely beautiful!

  • As a music educator, this incredible to see... What an amazing opportunity for those students. Kudos to those who set it up!

  • we had Black Lips play at our high school in 2007, but having Justin Vernon perform Bon Iver with your school's jazz band is so much cooler. haha

  • man this was unbelievable. the first minute gave me goosebumps

  • Beautiful end. MAGIC

  • absolutley brilliant

  • fpc way better

  • wow. incredible.

  • wish i was playing in that band

  • haha great video and like twenty spam comments down there

  • Can anyone tell me what the name of the song the group with the red vests (they won class b or c) played at the big concert. It had a trombone in the melody, started out with two arpeggiated piano chords. Its been bothering me since the jazz fest

  • Can't believe how well the ensemble did. This sounds so good. well done

  • yeah, they just got 3rd place at the essential ellington competition in N.Y., N.Y. We're really proud of them!

  • yeah i was there:)

  • From the looks of it, Justin Vernon is wearing a white suit. Classy/sassy.

  • I played in this concert!! i'm in the jazz 3 at memorial. Justin was really fun to work with, this concert gave me goosebumps it was so good

  • I wish we could get a mp3 of this version, it's great

  • please don't waste good energy being upset : ( and realize that not all of us got to work with professional musicians in high school. try to see it from someone else's perspective--how fortunate you are to experience that so often! i didn't mean to offend anyone. I'm a big fan of justin vernon's work and just a little envious, that's all ; )

  • no worries... : D

  • those kids don't know how fortunate they are to have such a great artist there with them!

  • we know : )

  • What makes you say that. First of all, as a former Memorial Jazz 1 alumni, we have worked with many incredible musicians, including Wynton Marsalis, Ron Carter, Victor Goines, and Justin Vernon.

Justin is a wonderful guy, always willing to help out, and did everything he could to reflect attention back to the band. When a reporter asked how working with students was, he remarked that these guys were the real professionals, some people he works with in his professional career are the jokes.

  • Go find another lover to string along!

  • This is great. Thanks for sharing!
