It really would not affect the sound of the kick that much at all. If any it would lower the pitch of the kick. It is like using a two ply reso head instead of one because you are looking to lower pitch....you can even check with Bob Gatzen on that. I do think a sprayed head would start to chip after a short time due to the continuous flexing of the head during play. But I do have to say that picture in 5min was awsome. I would love to have that painted on a kit then sealed with a lacquer.
