What Jane Lynch did in this video, and what happened in that church is how the world is now to gay people. What Haters call unholy or unmoral, we call a gift and love is love
i really really love this film, i think the message comes out clearly, i come from East africa where gays are ostracized, i have a few gay friends who are still i the closet because if anyone knew, they would be shunned, i love gays just as much as anyone else, it sad really, we have a long way to go with gay rights here.
@melinasparta43 You can’t even start comparing the numbers.
The ratio based on gender is so wide that the grand canyon seems a walk in the park in comparison.
Denying that heterosexual male chauvinism and their reproductive competitive instinct is behind the vast majority of aggressive behaviour is like denying both evolution and the suns existence.
They are like programmed mindless puppets that go crazy as soon as the possibility arises.
I have seen it not so long ago in the Balkan wars.
There is so much truth in what the priestess is saying about heterosexual males. If they would be in minority most certainly all the wars would stop in a heartbeat. Hopefully in the future we will evolve past this phase and we will have a more balanced number of openly gays, bisexuals and heteros. Heterosexual male chauvinism and competitiveness is the main driving power behind wars, female and child poverty, environmental abuse.
I'm really impressed with the way the homosexually-oriented society maintained and justified reproduction via artificial insemination, and in turn disgraced heterosexual sex. That's the really tricky part to these role reversals.
Anyway, amazing job! Keep fighting for equal rights!
lols oh nah havent seen the L word. i was see that movie at work but never got around to actually watching it. cool i mite check it out sometime ! but yeah im thinking she could be one in role models thats a funny movie should check it out:)
and it's soooo weird because i know exactly which bar this was shot in, as far as the part where the straight guy is talking with the bartender. i play pool there sometimes...
ugh if you already decided to be against this way of thinking why even comment? Just give your bad star rating and leave. You know, I'm not against the lack of understanding you have, it's the arrogance that I can't stand.
It does have a cute storyline, the message is OK. The point of the movie is to get Christians to fall for it. They won't. Here they bash Christianity and their stand for one man one woman marriages. They do it in the opposite way of course!
I really don't think it's taking a stab at Christians. I don't see that it's slandering any religion in particular, but is trying to make a point. I'm a Christian myself and I'm all for equal rights. I even go to church with a couple of same-sex couples, and my church does not cast them out. They are not seen as anybody out of the ordinary.
You're right, but I'm saying that it's mainly religious groups who are opposed to same sex marriages. Mainly the religious fanatics who believe God hates anyone!
It was a very good way to get the message across, inverting the situation. What is considered to be "normal" is nothing but something a society agrees on, and whoever does not follow that pattern is discriminated...
But by bringing people to really think about it, we can change it!
Sometimes the message is to strengthen the oppressed instead of changing the oppressor. We need to insist on our value, not ask. Rosa Parks insisted -- and banished the back seat of the bus. Harvey Milk insisted -- and Briggs became a footnote instead of history. Thank you, Anne, for reminding us -- our value begins with us.
My heart goes out to ANYONE who feels excluded & "different."
Does the computer question its creator and choose to be a coffee maker instead?
Since when does the "Created" make the rules on what his/her purpose is...and dictate what he/she will be judged on at the end of this life?
Best to obey God in everything...no matter how difficult it is. Justifying disobedience isn't going to change God's mind. He has created us for His purpose - not the other way around.
Are you to say that we are machines? I suggest you read a bit of Jean-Paul Sartre, some Existentialism might open your mind a little. :) What if, unlike objects, we are not created after a certain purpose, but first created, and then to decide what our purpose is?
And who is "God". If God created us and did not want there to be homosexuals, than why did he create them? Seems kind of stupid to create something you don't want.
What a joke. There are ZERO parallels. Go ahead and PRETEND that homosexuality is normal, but you will NEVER equate it with the true design and relationship of human creation.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Um...let's see...normal, as in, procreation normal. As in, thousands of years of populating the world normal...as in healthy societies with biological moms and dads normal...as in children that don't have chemical imbalances and turn into Chris Crocker normal...don't even start on the argument of normal. You can whine all you want...but you will never equate perversity with intimacy.
Think about it. Seriously. Don't you realize how many diseases and health issues plague mankind? Issues that are categorized and studied and labeled. Issues that inflict the body and the mind? Doctors and drug companies, hospitals and medical schools. Doesn't it seem plausible, just maybe, that something going on with the same gender attraction thing....may truly, exist in one of those categories? It is abnormal. Just like someone with bipolar disorder. Think about it.
You think that hasn't been looked into? Sexuality has been researched and analysed for years and every time it has all pointed to the same thing - it should not be treated as a disease and it is not something that can be changed. I don't understand why you think you know better than qualified professional doctors and researchers.
I have become very bitter, cold, and jaded. It takes a lot to make me cry. And this video really hit a nerve. Thank you to those who made it...and thank you to those who support it and post it. Keep this going. It's important to know how it would be to walk a mile...!
I wish the community would focus on the REAL villain. The statistics from the vote on Prop 8 show that it wasn't race and religious beliefs that linked the voters, it was lack of higher education. Let's get these ignorant heteros some experiences other than the familiar, and all will be well and good. Help support education in your area. Donate time and money to broaden your local hetero's kid's horizons.
A Buddhist Monk whose family was executed by Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge was asked by a reporter if he hated him or wanted revenge. His response: I do not hate Pol Pot or his followers. They were not my enemy. My enemy was their IGNORANCE. Ignorance comes from lack of knowledge but it is also taught to people through false information which happened in the the Holocaust. The same Church who taught followers the Sun revolves around the Earth and turned a blind eye to Hitler, Supports Prop 8.
The future's so bright. Instead of being ignored by all, we are condemned by few. To me that's progress. Those condemning us have to come into the light to do it. Used to be, all that hate was condoned by everyone. Now, haters are seen for who they are and that's a big deal.
This was cute and well executed, but not particularly unique or inspiring. I've seen the gay/straight social reversal concept used in other films before and, honestly, it just weirds me out more than anything. I'm all in support of the goals though, and I hope this film inspires others more than it did me.
I think the more reversal films out, the more the message gets out. Being bisexual...I have to walk a sad, lonely line. "Bi now gay later" is a common response by gays...and "Fag" is a common response from straights. It hits me twice as hard knowing that anyone is being denied rights they deserve.
The golden age of LGTB advocacy journalism in America ended 30 years ago. Preaching to the choir will accomplish nothing with regard to disasters like Prop 8. The audience here has already walked a mile in heels and bigots wont be persuaded by a call to compassion.
If only they understood us better!" Sadly, understanding is no barrier to hatred. If LGTB Americans allow our government to base itself on Christian principles, we can expect to be reviled and persecuted.
This short film represents intelligence and truth. Love IS love! If only we could have tolerance and acceptance for our diversity rather than be threatened by it surely we could heal this world.
If America expects homosexuals to pay the same taxes as heterosexuals, homosexuals and heterosexuals should have the same rights. I'm proud of my country for voting in Obama, but mad at my state for voting "yes" on 8.
This is so good it makes me want to cry! Its a gr8 way to get to all the homophobes in a way that they might be able to soften up and understand. I suggest that whoever else watches this send it to everyone they know and keep it circulating.
