@FlawlessHitz as the guy said, if you have windows vista home premium, you'll have to upgrade to windows 7 home premium, same goes with the others, home basic to windows 7 home basic, and so on. BUT if you have say, vista home basic and you want to upgrade to windows ultimate, you'll have to clear everything you have and start again

which is why you have to transfer the files you wish to keep to a hard drive you can get at shops, then upgrading it, then transfer the files back to your PC

@ZestyLemonFool You know what. Search touchjoker on youtube, download Windows 7 in the description, and then do a clean install instead of a upgrade. Clean Install will fix everything and make your PC new. If you still want your own files, you pick Windows.old when it comes up..

@Phenom69ll It is not possible. Only a 32-bit OS can run on a 32-bit CPU, and the same goes for a 64-bit. If your CPU is 32-bit, then it is physically incapable of running the instructions that a 64-bit OS will use. You would need a new CPU to make it work.
