I don't have any stereotypes any more, not really. Whatever stereotypes I may have had have disappeared over the past decade. My father was in the Navy, travelled a lot, brought home gifts from Egypt so we grew up with those things in the house, plus books. Arab tales are the most beautiful in the world, and Arabs created the Arabian horse. No culture that does that can be a bad one. One thing that bothers me is the Muslim dislike of dogs, or belief that they are unclean. Is that a stereotype?
@universalradio Yep it's true but we do not dislike dogs! We believe that they are unclean, which is actually true when you do research and find that dog's saliva has many diseases. We only discourage letting dogs living between us, we do not hate them. We actually have dogs for protection or protecting farms for example. And most importantly to us, our prophet told us not to have dogs as pets because of the diseases they hold. I suggest you research on this topic and understand. Peace

Sadly, a stereotype that often holds true, not just for "Arabs", but for many "traditional cultures", especially with older generations, is a preconceived notion men have that women aren't that bright. Hi Rania, here is my biggest "stereotype" about women in the Muslim world: They get really pissed when their husbands marry several wives but pretend to be OK with that for fear of being beaten at home. So please tell me that isn't true. Please tell me that you'll be fine if your husband decided to marry a few other women. (As a Muslim man, he certainly has every right to do so. )
Actually, women can object can't they?.. Plus, beating women is very unacceptable.. and even though it does happen. It is not allowed. A women can get a divorce, by telling the judge what her husband has done to her.

I am appreciative of the Arab culture's contributions to the overall body of human knowledge. Including math, astronomy, beer, the first modern agricultural societies.., the list goes on, and I am still sure I am missing a significant portion of them. the issue is the type of bacteria they can carry, a disease in a dog can be fatal in a human, and vice versa

Sadly, a stereotype that often holds true, not just for "Arabs", but for many "traditional cultures", especially with older generations, is a preconceived notion men have that women aren't that bright. I've found most Arab women extremely educated - sharp as razors - and often more inquisitive and "a vacuum" for knowledge, often outpacing their boyfriend or husband in the acquisition of new skills (sorry guys) - and often outperforming men in what might be a traditionally male job.

Bush ways of facing One man tho a whole religion or a whole "race" of peoples. And this is werry sad. Here are a few stereotypes backed up by the Quran and sunnah.
1. Quran Sura 4:34; a man can beat his wife.
2. The prophet married and had sex with a 12 year old Aisha.
3. The houris or virgins; what do you think of them?
4. Suras describing Jews i.e. anti-semitism.
5. Only unforgivable sin is idol worship - So, even Gandhi will go to hell.

Queen Rania can't judge what the prophet or God would think of her, and you can't judge someone based on their appearance but she does a lot of good and I'm sure she will be rewarded for this. Also, the prophet was around in the 1st century, hundreds of years ago in Britain men old married very young women, the age of consent was once 10, it was not strange or paedophilic in earlier times. Her age is debated but the marriage wasn't consumated until several years after marriage.

si se habla de arabes muchos hablan contrariamente de ellos solo que por un grupo, todos sin ser asi.
En un pais se puede encontrar personas que lastiman y aun mejor Muy Buenas Personas Con Gran Humanidad.

Hi Rania, here is my biggest "stereotype" about women in the Muslim world: They get really pissed when their husbands marry several wives but pretend to be OK with that for fear of being beaten at home. So please tell me that isn't true. Please tell me that you'll be fine if your husband decided to marry a few other women. (As a Muslim man, he certainly has every right to do so. )

Actually, women can object can't they?.. Plus, beating women is very unacceptable.. and even though it does happen. It is not allowed. A women can get a divorce, by telling the judge what her husband has done to her.
Also, Not everywhere is perfect. Men have raped there own daughters and beaten there own wives in Western,,Eastern Northern, southern parts of the world ..etc, Its some special cases. even though its illegal, it happens everywhere, not just in islam.

I am appreciative of the Arab culture's contributions to the overall body of human knowledge. Including math, astronomy, beer, the first modern agricultural societies.., the list goes on, and I am still sure I am missing a significant portion of them. I really don't have a problem with any one culture, each human gets a culturally sensitive and relativistic case by case evaluation on whether or not I think they are a decent person.

democratically because of their? Is it even true that they are unable? Don't get me wrong, I think any nation Arab or otherwise can do anything it wants to, contingent upon social/political will, but I just don't know what to say to this stereotype, so I pass it over to your capable, waiting hands.

hurray for queen rania. I'm not an arab nor an american. im an asian and I too have misconceptions about the arab world, probably because the media around me is greatly influenced by western media in which the arabs are misrepresented.

Just one example terrorism i am not saying that the Arabs are the only ones but unfortunately to your country are the most talked.
