yes piano is also from that modual. Wish I still had it. On the second track the bass line is as close as it gets to the bass on Man in the Mirror by Jackson
One of the truly great Roland products — still sounds fantastic today. And they were two of the most memorable demo tracks, great work by both composers.
Pretty advanced for it's age and the PCM cards are suprising, satisfied the most demanding musicians in it's day, if only such synths were still industry standard in studios, advert music, etc.
Successor of the MT-32?, quite a few of the U-220 and MT-32 sounds were used in the Sound Canvas synth modules including the SC-55, sounds like the brass sound and marimba and some of the MT-32's percussions.

Is the piano sound from the U220 as well?
Mexymillion 1 year ago
@Mexymillion Yes, all of the sounds in this demo, including piano, are coming from the Roland U-220. Pretty good for 1989.

@zibbybone wow sweet! I just ordered one on marketplace. Thanks ;)

So apparently Capcom used samples from this synth not only for their CPS2 games but also the arranged soundtracks of some games.

@thesnake383 I know. I've got a few U-220 soundfonts and some other stuff to help get that Capcom sound.

U220 is one of my favourite ROMplers. So many of the partials sound like they were lifted by SNES developers.

Hearing this makes you realise those Fantom keyboards sound pretty shite.
Those demos were pretty good back then.
Would be fun to find one of these for a bargain.

Now this is probably coincidence but, I traded in a few years ago a U-220 and a TX81Z to the guitar center. LOL and I am in the DFW area also!
FATE!
