  • the live version of this song is ass except for moon.

  • I WANT THAT SWEAT SHIRT!!!

  • @coalb389 whos keiths? you can get a t shirt think keiths was a one off like petes jacket

  • 0:58 amazing!!!!

  • Keith Moon is probably the only drummer, who could match Neil Peart.

  • @Turtle1631991 noooo way dude, Keith is a million times better than Neil Peart. Without Keith there would be no Neil Peart

  • @tatethompson1234 I guess it is a bit of overstatement. But they are difficult to compare since they are completely different. Keith Moon is the kind of drummer who gives the song it's energy and drive. His wild personality was what gave the band it's famous destructive "Rock n' rollness". But I have always admire preciseness of Neil Part. He is like clockwork. He knows when exactly hit the drum to put the emphasize the song.

  • @StanleySindler Yeah very true. Also not for best skills but the perfect drummer to me is John Densmore, if ya listen to The Doors live, just every random thing he does just makes the song perfect, he always knows when to add something and what to add, his timing is impecable. Alot of great drummers. What I like about Neil Peart is that he can play a 35min song, and then replay it playing exactly the same

  • @tatethompson1234 Well, he had no choice but to learn how to improvise becouse of Morrisons impredictable behaviour. Sometimes while singing he stitched more different songs together, slowed down or speeded up, or put pieces of his poetry into the performance. Deshmore is certainly on my top drummers list. AD: Used my brothers account by mistake, StanleySindler is me, sory for that

  • @tatethompson1234 Big fan of John Densmore too, love his sound he's got. Perfect for the doors. Very underated i think.

    Regards.

  • @tatethompson1234 Seeing as Neil Peart was inspired by Keith Moon's drumming originally, it could easily be a good comparison. Although their playing styles are both still different.

  • @Turtle1631991 WHAT ABOUT JOHN BONHAM DRUMMER FOR LED-ZEPPELIN, HIS NICKNAME WAS CALLED "THE BEAST" BECAUSE HE WAS SO FAST ON DRUMS AND LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @moontheloon518 I love Led Zeppelin as much as the next guy, but somehow Bonhams drumming never gave me the shivers like Moons and Pearts does.

  • @moontheloon518 yeah the 2 greatest rock drummers ever bar none

  • That kit sounds NICE

  • suck on this travis barker

  • Keith Moon was the best drummer of all time!! And now is Son is a good Drummer Too.

  • @chillafrilla101 Keith only had a daughter...You're thinking of Ringo Starr's son , Zak Starkey, who drums for the Who now.

  • @Jiggs46 oh yeah.. right sorry :S thanks for correcting me.

  • This version is better than the studio.

  • keith was like the george best of the drums, natural genius..

  • guys..keith is 18 in this video lol

  • he makes it look soo easy:P

    RIP Keith

  • Someone at ABC must have decided that Townshend was too ugly for any extended time on American network television. In '65 they still thought the British Invasion bands were only as good as they looked.

  • Keith Moon was the best drummer of the 60's, not all time! Dickie Harrell of the 50's group "Gene Vincent's & the Bluecaps" could have blown him out of the way easy enough.

  • @MrDeejay45 i literally laughed

  • 2 minutes of gold

  • FUCKING AWESOME, i wish i was there

these boys know how to rock

  • What happened to the video that was on YouTube which had Jimmy O'Neal introducing them before they start playing? It sounds silly, but it adds to the feel of the video.

  • @unknownkingdom yeah i was about to say the same, just look at these 4 talented guys, they are playin live and sound great!!

  • @unknownkingdom I dont know but I have this footage on The Kids are alright vid and for some reason this version is much clearer

  • This is Rock & Roll.

  • Roger looks pissed in this. I'm suprosed Keith's drum heads didn't bust. Man can he play drums or what? The guy is was so good he quit using a hi-hat. RIP Keith and John

  • Gene Krupa, Keith Moon adn Carl Palmer.

    Ginger Baker a weak fourth.

  • keith still using a hihat here. I dig it

  • This is the only video I've seen where not only does Entwistle get more than 2 seconds of screen time, but actually spends more time on camera than Townshend!

  • Go Keith! Total feel player.

  • Keith is 18 here, and he's playing like a machine gun.

  • The best performace live of THE WHO - I CAN'T EXPLAIN. Very good the video! Thanks!

  • do you realize that the girls scream when keith moon does a drum fill. it just shows how much of an influence he is

  • I might get alot of flame for this, but as far as rock goes, Bonzo shits all over moon. Moon is damn good, and effortless (and funny as fuk) but the sheer versatility and power of Bonzo has never been matched... But just before you all fill my inbox, alot of Jazz musicians could give Bonzo a wedgie before even he would notice. Just my 2 cents worth

  • @Rafterman123 - There have been several better drummers than Moon, but very few that played with he same intensity...He actually played with his personality, and was the first drummer to explode...In the rock genre anyway....Moon at his best would definitely be in my fantasy band....Probably have Entwistle on bass to...

  • @Rafterman123 noooo cannot agree...all yanks say the same thing on this "led zep are way better etc bonzo ,pagey etc blah blah blah" moon didnt play like anyone else ..nobody could match him as a character/performer/drummer its all these elements that push his name ahead of bonham in terms of status,im a led zep fan too ,,so no bias but moon just had ...it,whatever "it "is

  • @happentodie Well we all have our opinions, but I'm not a Yank. I love Moon too but Bonzo just does it for me. And I think there are a even a few jazz drummers who could pull the wool over both their eyes. Just imagine if they were still alive.

  • @Rafterman123 quite possibly there are better out there...i actually prefer zep on the whole but moon was special in a way that made you want to watch him ,character, goes a long way and moon had buckets of it ...:)

  • ezin dut azaldu!!

  • Aw, Keith was so little. Yet he could play drums as if he'd been playing all his life!

  • There was only one guy who could play drums like that. No doubt a total shooting star.

  • moonie is the dogs bollocks

  • @TheDjh782

    Lol.

  • British rock of 60s years is amazing! It's my favourite music!

  • Keith Moon was the best!!! He was crazy)

It is a pity that he has died(((

  • keith moons drumming O.O wow hes amazing!

  • Screaming girls, A Rickenbacker 360 through a big Marshall, long hair, British accent..aah, the mid 60s!

  • great song

I hope they play this during Super Bowl XLIV's halftime.

  • They should make it a timeline, a song from theyre beginnings, middle and final. It would be so cool.

  • Have you heard Elton Motello's version from the "Pop Art" album? It's great.

  • the intro 3 power chord riffs are the same as clash city rockers... good ear whoever that was!

  • he can really play the drums they wernt lieing when they say best in the world ! its so effortless for him !

  • kinda sounds like Clash City Rockers??

  • Not disimilar...

Apparently Moon was a big Beach Boys fan and would have joined them at the drop of a hat, which would have changed history....Also Pete may have joined Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Titch, making them Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Titch and Pete...Which would have been ridiculous.

  • And John and Keith were ready to kick pete to the curb to found Led Zeppelin. Luckily for the world- Zepp got bonham and we got to have BOTH!

  • sorry....that's some Bull Tarantino made up for Death Proof.

  • realy good, sounds like saville row (brno revival)

  • It's like listening to the beatles with better drumming. I still love the beatles more but it's two awesome bands.

  • Ehh, there styles are pretty different to me. The Who needed Moons type of drumming while the Beatles needed Ringo's type of drum. Neither band would have benifited if they swapped drummers. I love both bands btw

  • you can say that again. they played screaming their heart out more than their so called artistic side. unlike the Beatles. i love both band tough.

  • Apparently Keith Moon was a big Beach Boys fan and wanted to join them...Which would have been a bit wrong...Also Pete could have joined Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch, which would have made them Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick, Titch and Pete!

  • This song still kicks ass

  • Keith Moon!!!! Que animal por Dios!

  • Keith Moon is magic. Fucking magic!

  • Keith Moon man, the sidney crosby of drums

  • Yes, good observation. Keith was a lovely lad and reminds me of a young Mrs Doubtfire.

  • a young Mrs. Doubtfire?

  • Is it not obvious? Moon was Scottish and liked to dress as a woman on occassion. That is just for starters -there are many other similarities.

  • No he was born in London

  • Who's Sidney Crosby, and why didn't you capituliaze his naammame?

  • Absolutely brilliant. Hard to believe they were barely out of their teens here, in fact Keith wasn't (born 1946).

  • @Monterey2am that would make 39 in this vid you numpty

  • Yes, and? I dont se the point your making. He was 39.

  • hahah u think moon was born in 26 lol

he was born in 46 im not even gonna say anything.... lol

  • well, can we settle half way and agree on 1936? That would work for me.

  • Damn those girls in the crowd are going crazy when the song starts.

  • Comment removed

  • Did keith ever look at his drum set ?? Fuckin Amazing

  • He didn't need to. A sign of genius.

  • Pete got too little camera time here nevertheless the Who is fucking great

  • Keith Moon was the best drummer of all time

  • when this vids on you just want the camera on him the whole way through because its fucking mind blowing watching him!!!

  • Yes, it's a joy watching him, and the flow of his playing. It is amazing!

  • you are so right. you've got neal peart, john bonham. and keith moon and moon is it.

  • @pillowcase001 seriously. He is the best. Neal Peart and all the other drummers people love to talk about are NO comparison to how great Keith Moon is.

  • @pillowcase001 one of the best for sure!

  • I prefer John Bonham

  • @DonBigalow psh

  • @DonBigalow ehh....i like him, but i think kieths better in my opinion

  • A GEM from the Dodge Dart Era! I JUST LOVE this song and it is my FAVORITE Who classic!

Damn, this is GREAT! I LOVE the way I feel whenever I hear this one!

    Damn, this is GOOOOOD!

  • I just love Entwistles backing vocals, he is a really good singer, he should of sang lead on a lot more of the whoes songs.

Forgive me if i am wrong but is Petes guitar playing a little out of time in this vid.

  • petes guitar is never loud. rogers dippidy doo at times maybe loud, but never pete

  • No, it's not. They play very weird coming off of that stop, but always on together.

  • Listen to that RAP sh*t on every media available...

Then I ASK ~ how could that CRAP have evolved from such incredible music as this?

  • did anyone play harder than Keith before him?

    Seriously, I'm asking...

  • seriously, no, not that ive seen or heard!!!

    not too many after!!!

  • 'Wish I could do those dance moves at 0:02 to 0:07!!!

  • lol

  • I once said that Moon was overrated....I take it back. Geez.. This is bad ass. This clip ought to be in the RR Hall of Fame.

  • the important is that you discovered the truth :D

  • the hottest band of all time..did u know that cynthia lennon was a close friend of keith?

  • Could Keith get any cuter?

  • this is boss! what a drummer Moonie!

  • Keith Moon! What else can be said...

  • Why flaschu and rickyfaggots start insulting people on here...There is no need for abuse...you tube is the coolest site on earf...why bother calling peoples names?? I wonder...

  • maybe the drummer skill was admit lol xD

  • It's hard to beleive that 4 years later they were at Woodstock.

  • Keith has a hi-hat!

  • And still rides his cymbals, what does that tell you?:)

  • I think it tells me that he was taught as a jazz player and used his hi-hat like a snare drum: for comping as most jazz players did and still do. He's playing rock here, so playing the ride would have a better projecting sound, especially with the likes of Pete, John, and Roger.

  • i think its pretty cool how he never uses hi hat.

  • your outta ya dam mind

  • Fuck you mother fucker !!!!!!!!!!

  • did You bet with someone You'll get three-digit number of minuses on youtube??

  • die bitch

  • the cameraman was the one stoned. 3 second shot on pete at around 1:30 and that was it?

  • Yeah you're right, but good shots of Keith in action. Most cameramen back then were useless. Have you noticed how close to the persons face they film!

  • At least we saw John for once.

  • keith moon es el dios de la bateria

  • duuude you stoned...

  • I can't believe Keith and John are dead. man..

  • shit, he's still dead? jeez.

  • Well no one is going to bring them back to life lol.

  • maybe scientists could clone them from hair they left in some of their instruments ??

  • wow did i rele add tht ten secs ago i dnt remember lol drunk enouf to fall into a wall n get a nose bleed lol dnt judge me

who am i kiddin long live the who haha

  • hes great wish i cud do tht stuff like tht like twirlin the mic n dancin like tht lol mayb 1 day haha

  • haha i love rogers dancing smooth i wanna be able to do tht!lol x

  • He's adorable!

  • hey does anyone know how long keith had been playing the drums before he got into the who??

  • all arise....it's The Who. thankyou Guys!

  • Keith reinvented the drums, John reinvented the bass, Pete was fusing rock with flamenco style guitar playing, and Roger was an impressive showman (so were Pete and Keith). The only thing the Beatles had going for them were their flashy appearances and their song writing... Pete once said that he was listening to the beatles on his radio, and he could here the vocals coming out of one speaker and without the baking track... they sounded crumby... Ringo has nothing on Keith

  • YEAH

i seen that on the kids are all right he said it to that lady reporter

  • he said they sounded LOUSY

  • My bad, I was paraphrasing

  • Unbelievable that it needs to be argued that apples aren't oranges. Fuck sake, You tube provides a repository of great videos, and suppositories of inane comments.

  • lol great band ugly guitar

  • first of all the beatles' first #1 was "please please me" and second of all when their producer george martin suggested that they sing "how do you do it" they refused because they didn't like the song so george martin gave it to gerry and the pacemakers. and they never sang "doggy in the window" the sang "my bonny" check your facts man

  • Damn, Roger was a beast!

  • Those who say The Beatles didn't write their own materail are complete ignorants !

The Beatles wrote almot all of their material, and as of Rubber Soul album, they wrote all the songs in their albums !!!

Please, to those who say The Beatles didn't write their songs, please do your homework and do resarch on The Beatles.

  • The first #1 Beatle single, "How Do You Do It", written by Nashville songster Mike Nesmith, propelled them to the top of the British Charts. The next song, "How Much Is That Doggy in The Window", was released just in time for their first tour of America. It was there they set an attendance record at Yankee stadium of 75,000, a figure that would not be repeated until Milly Vanilly's performance of 1985.

All came crashing down when it was proven the Beatles were actually lip-synching.

  • ha lol

  • I'll assume you're kidding because it was pretty funny.

  • they r all so cute there especially keith. tho i do wish they showed pete mor.

  • This clip contains THE BEST EVER rock drumming performance recorded on film.

  • search the ribes live rate and comment please =) the who are the best of all time

  • Keith Moon amazing in this and Roger's clothing is hilarious!

  • It's surprising to see how really young Keith Moon was.

  • ....judging by the previous comments...know your "shit" before shouting like bitches.

  • The Beatles didnt write most of their songs? How do you explain, then, the fact that A Hard Days Night was the first rock album to feature all original material? The album was released before the Who came out.

  • hey the beatles did write almost all their songs! john and paul wrote many many, just Please Please Me has another author's compositions, still has like 8 tracks written by John! also George and Ringo write songs for the albums!

  • pete nearly wrote all of the songs. no beatles wrote any. maybe the who covered one of their songs such as "twist and shout" but nothing rly else.

  • That was a very stupid comment. I like the Who much better than the Beatles, but the Beatles wrote pretty much all of their legendary and not so well known songs.

  • Pete Townshend claims it was him playing the 12 string Rickenbacker guitar while Jimmy Page played 2nd guitar on this song . Also Jimmy Page played fuzz guitar on the B - side of the single , a song called "Bald Headed Woman" .

  • this pwns the beatles

  • screw whoever gave you thumbs down on your comment, the beatle suck and the who will always be better.

  • One of the best pop songs ever. Pete Townshend=Genius. I love The Who!

  • wow keith moon!! really fast!:)

  • all my frends say i look like john entwistle with my hair a bit longer. mom and dad hate it, but i think it's awesome. long live rock, the who, and The Ox

  • you poor bastard

  • worst part is my parents made me cut my hair.

  • That's a bunch of bullshit (one longhair to another lol)

  • All other drummers - BOW TO MOONIE!

  • WOOHOO!

  • I love how all the girls are screaming! I'd probably be one of them though.

    XD
