She should have owned a gun, he was taking so long to kick in the front door, she would have had plenty of time to aim the gun at the door and wait for him to kick it in. I have an AK-47 and a HK416 assault rifles, along with my two Sig P226 .45's. That AK would have greeted him once he kicked the door in. She should have had a gun.

@promelt I think the fact that he forced entry into her house in the first place (when she was obviously home) was justification enough. She had no way of knowing if he was armed. On top of that, he charged at her and tried to drag her outside, so I think this was a pretty clear case of self defense.

This was a real interesting episode on Rescue 911. The woman had to do the right thing; calling 911 right away due to some stranger knocking on the door at night. Some how the stranger forced his way in. She was assaulted but not hurt at all. The police finally arrested the man who burglarized the home and fought with her. The subject was found by the woman down the road. Wow. What a horrible and scary night that was in that quiet Scarborough, ME neighborhood.

You're judging this thing based on your perception of the offender's intentions--which you have no idea about. If he WAS GOING TO rob her or rape her--of course lock him up for life. We can't make those assumptions though. We can only judge him on what he did--burglary and assault--5 years. It's a long time.
