Its crazy how much Mars' voice changed from old school Phoenix to Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. Not saying that I don't like it, but does anyone know if there is a reason why these albums are so different from each other? It's like a completely different band.

@beetrobot I'm not a hardcore Phoenix fan, but I have been listening to them for a few months, and have noticed the same exact thing. It's as if the older material has more of a laidback feel and the new material is more rock-oriented. I don't know if you were going towards that angle, but that's just my opinion.

@beetrobot: This is one of the best things about French Touch. These "kids" have huge musical culture, and come from different musical backgrounds. They refuse to be branded, and they are open minded, so they just make the music they feel like making. How awesome is that?

Anyway bands like Phoenix or Daft Punk make me proud to be French and ashamed we were the last in the world to like them...

I think that everytime I listen to them! His vocal style is different on every album. It's like Never Been Like That was the transitional state between Alphabetical and WAM, where he started to raise the pitch at the end of phrases. (I like the way he sounded on Alphabetical best, but that's just me.) I love the way each album is so different, it keeps them from becoming repetitive. ;)
