I love this as I'm sure all court reporters do! Want to get a real kick out of it? Turn on the automatic closed captioning at the bottom, the little red box with the cc. Our jobs are safe if this is the future of voice recognition technology!
Little did I know it, when I watched this live on TV many years ago that I would now be a court reporter, watching it again is still so funny. Even though real court reporters don't act like this and are impartial and professional, this has to be the funniest skit ever in hindsight. I loved the "good old days."
This is hysterical! I am a first semester court reporting student and right now we have loaner machines (they don't give us the ones we paid for until we're about two months in) that look just like the one Carol is on!! Horrible things, they always break during dictation!
I grew up watching this show with my grandma and we used to laugh ourselves silly. As I got older I realized how much ground breaking Carol did on tv as a comedienne. AND as a dramatic actress, she got a Golden Globe nomination as best actress for the film "The Life of the Party", a true story. I'm posting for other fans in L.A. who might want a chance to see her in person, she's hosting and will do a Q&A after.

I bet any Canadian or anyone for that matter would remember his show "Bizarre" that ran from 1978-1985, now that a great comedian, John Byner is funny as hell.
I agree with Kind67, John Byner was so funny and I used to love "Bizarre" with SuperDave Osbourne. Sigh, the good ole days of comedy.:) Laughter is wonderful.
I am in San Antonio, one the west part of town, where Carol Burnett lived as a kid and teen ager, they are trying to save her house from the wrecking ball. Its a nice big Victorian style house. Funny part, she grew up in big Mexican American neighborhood in West San Antonio.
It's a wonder that they were able to get through any of the skits without completely cracking up and loosing it. Carol and Co. are absolutely hilarious. No one does prime time comedy like this anymore!
What can i say except, Carol Burnett is a classic comedian..They sure don't make them like that anymore...As a student court reporter I loved this skit!...:) lol
Where did you learn how to practice law? The White House? no one show could have the greatest of outtakes than Carol Burnett's show. The more they tried to hide their laughter, the more I laughed
Yes, I thought that was John Byner. He was one of my favorite comedians--really witty and clever, but with a sweetness that went with it--very, very underrated in my opinion!
Where did you find this? I've been searching for this for years! I've been a reporter for 27 years and my husband always talk about the Carol Burnett skit. Hilarious. I'm so glad you posted it.
best line: where did you learn to practice law, in the white house?
the more lawyers i see in action, the more convinced i am that's where they've learned to practice law.

She believed him until he said the proverbial, "The butler did it." Hiliarious. There just aren't comedians like this anymore.

The crack about practicing law in the
White House suggests this stems from
the Nixon years.

carol burnett was great, a testimony to her that after all these years people still laugh at her skits. Korman and Conway were an excellent cast.
