  • best line: where did you learn to practice law, in the white house?

the more lawyers i see in action, the more convinced i am that's where they've learned to practice law.

  • Too Funny!!!

  • One of the funniest sketches ever!

  • That's John Byner as the killer, right?

  • I love this as I'm sure all court reporters do! Want to get a real kick out of it? Turn on the automatic closed captioning at the bottom, the little red box with the cc. Our jobs are safe if this is the future of voice recognition technology!

  • LOL, OMG, Carol really loses it in this sketch, putting in her two cents about the prime suspect and all XD

"The butler did it? THE BUTLER DID IT???? MY AUNT FANNY!!!!" (3:00)

  • I love how they try and get you "on their side." LOL I've had a few like this.

  • I wonder how her transcript turned out?

  • @Sccm6956 From the looks of the final scene, all over the courtroom floor!!!

  • Little did I know it, when I watched this live on TV many years ago that I would now be a court reporter, watching it again is still so funny. Even though real court reporters don't act like this and are impartial and professional, this has to be the funniest skit ever in hindsight. I loved the "good old days."

  • Reminds me of...me!

  • where did you practice law? in the white house? hahaha

  • Court reporters RULE!!!! I love this!!!!!!

  • This is hysterical! I am a first semester court reporting student and right now we have loaner machines (they don't give us the ones we paid for until we're about two months in) that look just like the one Carol is on!! Horrible things, they always break during dictation!

  • I grew up watching this show with my grandma and we used to laugh ourselves silly. As I got older I realized how much ground breaking Carol did on tv as a comedienne. AND as a dramatic actress, she got a Golden Globe nomination as best actress for the film "The Life of the Party", a true story. I'm posting for other fans in L.A. who might want a chance to see her in person, she's hosting and will do a Q&A after.

Go to Friendly House LA (dot) o r g to see an invite.

  • So funny. She says what all court reporters are thinking during a typical workday. Loved it.

  • She believed him until he said the proverbial, "The butler did it." Hiliarious. There just aren't comedians like this anymore.

  • The crack about practicing law in the

White House suggests this stems from

    the Nixon years.

    Tx 4 posting

  • carol burnett was great, a testimony to her that after all these years people still laugh at her skits. Korman and Conway were an excellent cast.

  • At 1:24 - she's so cruel, imitating the way he talks! LOL

  • Lookit Carol's glasses!!!! She cracks me up!

  • What a pair! I miss, miss, miss her comedy!!

  • me too!

  • what happened to the video?

  • nevermind

  • Bwaaa ha haaaa! lookit at carol's physical motions, SHE FUNNY!!! nobody like her these days, unless you count Tina Fey.

  • carol looks like guy gardner here.

  • Harvey Korman died recently....what a comedian who played off the best. Remember him as the bad guy in Blazing Saddles!!!

  • RIP Harvey Korman

  • She went left field...right field...center field..she went off!!! LMAO!!! That Carol I tell ya!!

  • LMAO!!!

  • "Where'd you learn to practice law, the white house?"

"that's a wrap on that one, the prosecution rests" LOL

  • MAN I MISS CAROL BURNETT!!!!

  • Nothing but the best comedian s on American Tv's History..thanks

  • Oh my, didn't know videos like these were on Y-tube - so glad they are! I remember this as a kid! Love it!!!! Thanks for the video!!!

  • bringing back lots of memories for me as well.. Great post

  • "Would you ask the killer to speak up?"

  • OMG! This is HYSTERICAL!! LMAO! :)

  • LOL.. OHG! Don't you just love Carol Burnett. She's soooo funny.

  • This is Carol really at her best.LOL!!And Harvey Corman is excellant & camp as usual.Brilliant comedy!I've always loved the show.

  • John Byner was a master impressionist. His Jerry Lewis was jaw-dropping!

  • John Byner did the voices on the cartoon, "The Ant and the Aardvark." I love him.

  • I bet any Canadian or anyone for that matter would remember his show "Bizarre" that ran from 1978-1985, now that a great comedian, John Byner is funny as hell.

  • I agree with Kind67, John Byner was so funny and I used to love "Bizarre" with SuperDave Osbourne. Sigh, the good ole days of comedy.:) Laughter is wonderful.

  • The Butller Did It?

  • I am in San Antonio, one the west part of town, where Carol Burnett lived as a kid and teen ager, they are trying to save her house from the wrecking ball. Its a nice big Victorian style house. Funny part, she grew up in big Mexican American neighborhood in West San Antonio.

  • "where did you learn to practice law, the white house?" HA!

  • That part was the funniest! The white house surely practices law differently!!! lol. Carol is great!

  • It's a wonder that they were able to get through any of the skits without completely cracking up and loosing it. Carol and Co. are absolutely hilarious. No one does prime time comedy like this anymore!

  • What can i say except, Carol Burnett is a classic comedian..They sure don't make them like that anymore...As a student court reporter I loved this skit!...:) lol

  • Carol & co. are Fantastic! Check out The Ultimate Marilyn, these people knew the real MM!

  • Oh my goodness....Simply the BEST!!!!!....:)

  • Carol Burnett AND Lucille Ball were the two BEST, FUNNIEST, MOST ENJOYABLE, Comedians "EVER" in TV history!!! -P E R I O D-

  • The Butler Did It?

  • i wish i could have her as my lawyer!!!!!!my life would be quite a bit better at this moment!!!

  • Carol Burnett is so hilarious!! i love her

  • As a court reporter, my dream has come true in the form of this skit!!

  • OMG, me too. I do believe after nearly 30 years as a reporter, one day I'll probably lose my mind and do some of the things she did.

  • funny stuff!

  • I remember a second skit, where she rolls her eyes at the jury and does a lot of grimacing and is also hilarious, would love to find that one!

  • Where did you learn how to practice law? The White House? no one show could have the greatest of outtakes than Carol Burnett's show. The more they tried to hide their laughter, the more I laughed

  • This is way, way to funny!

  • Carol Burnett is one of the funniest women alive

  • This is fantastic. How I wish I could act like this!!

  • I LOVED THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW!! Wish it could have gone on forever, but like all great things, they come to an end....

  • that's John Byner as the 'killer'. His show (Canadian) was pretty hilarious too in the 80's.

  • was his show "bizarre" by any chance?

  • Yes, I thought that was John Byner. He was one of my favorite comedians--really witty and clever, but with a sweetness that went with it--very, very underrated in my opinion!

  • Did anyone else notice he did his own stunt?

  • this is so great!

  • I love this!

  • glad you liked it! are you a court reporter? (we've allllllllll done this mentally at some point in our careers!)

  • Where did you find this? I've been searching for this for years! I've been a reporter for 27 years and my husband always talk about the Carol Burnett skit. Hilarious. I'm so glad you posted it.

  • As a reporter, I've had fantasies about what I'm going to do on my last day of work before I retire. I may take a cue from Carol.
