I've backed plenty of doubles, but never a triple, too worried about making a mess of it, and the drawbar on the 2nd dolly. I have seen a bloke I used to work with though back a triple onto a dock, every week, first go. But as I said to him once, " no one likes a show off Jack", Lol

Truth is, you don't back up a train like this for much more than giving your tractor more space to make a turn going forward. I drive triples in Nevada and Utah. You just make sure you plan ahead for every move you make. There's NO backing up or turning around in most cases. And you sure as hell aren't going to back up to a dock!

I cantell you every week I have to reverse a a double roadtrain back onto my third trailer and dolly. Ive backed a double onto a dock. If you want to be able to drive these rigs you must be able to reverse them as sometimes you just dont know the predicament you may get in .

No they don't, the only trucks that have a lock on the dollies are rigid tip trucks that tow a dog trailer (or tag I think they say in the US), and thats only for around town work.

I've never seen dolly locks on roadtrains, it wouldnt be practical. You dont usually have to back them any way. A good driver can back a 2 trailer roadtrain onto a 3rd trailer, but thats just to assemble the roadtrain.
