  • Thanks! This was hugely helpful. Bought the change lube tool today and did the job myself. Thanks for warning about overspray.

  • yo ... does this work if i want to lubricate my anus?

  • 1:30-end. I don't know if you meant it, but that was some funny commentary hahaha. Oh, and that's what she said!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • C A B L E

  • "Now right here you can see there's a little hole, that's where i'm gonna put my tube in"

  • Thanks for posting this video. You helped me a lot! Would you happen to know the name of the tool that you used to lube the cable?

  • Hi there, Just wondered why the title says "cable" but you call it "string" we in the UK call the "ball" a "nipple" (more innuendo) I usually take off both ends of the "cable" that way you can work it back and forth and twist it around to ensure it is 100% covered, But a very good informative vid Cheers Mate

  • Does anyone else find this sexual?

  • Thanks for putting this up. I had no idea how these cable oilers worked. Now I know, I will be getting one this week (my clutch cable is really dry & stiff and hurting my wrist! Hasn't been lubed in 6 years)

This system looks better than the other type, where you have to put a cylinder-type thing over the cable (with washers and rubber seals and what-not). A couple of bad reports about those types.

  • hey very nice bike! what model is it? honda 600?

  • @halosavage Honda 919. Best bike ever made.

  • @SuperSneakySteve some say ...that was Z1000 :D ever made:D

  • nice clean bike :D

  • how often are you supposed to lube the clutch cables?

  • Plastic bag with four stroke engine oil, sticky tape the cable in a hole in the bottom of the bag, leave overnight or until it leaks through, job done.

  • you could do it without this funny tool, just spray the lube into the cable hose....

  • Thanks for the video, SuperSneakySteve. I bought a similar cable oiler but the instructions are in Japanese without detailed diagrams

  • Ive heard that the solvent type lubes arent the ones to use too. Dont some cables have plastic liners in them???? A haynes manual i saw was saying you need to use proper cable lube but ive never seen any????

  • hahaha this is hilarious! comedian/mechanic?

  • Those cable lubers suck. I'd rather buy cables every 3 or 4 years as spray that sticky crap all over my hands, clothes, bike, floor, and walls. You could probably pay for cables in the tool and wasted lube.

Has anyone tried that DuPont Teflon Multi-use Dry Wax Lubricant for this? It goes on like water and then dries to a whitish haze. $4 & change a can. Works great on MC chains. Wouldn't make nearly as much of a sticky mess as cable lube and should go down the cable better. Just a thought.

  • LMFAO so many sexual innuendos in this LOL. Thanks for the tips on the lube job btw.

  • @Vampyre777

    I'm makin' a mess in my hand...LOL

  • @Vampyre777 you got to love the way he directs the camera too ;];];]

  • Great and helpful.

  • "thats gonna give me room for my tool to get in there"

  • lmao! "i'm gonna stick it in the hole and start squirting!"

  • "Thats what he said" haha

  • @compacflt . i caught that too. "its going to start squirting", "its making a mess in my hand"

  • nice i was wondering how that tool worked thanks

  • You could fasten a plastic sandwich bag with rubber bands around the cable and oiler, this will catch all the lube that's dripping, also (difficult I know), try spraying more slowly, with practise you can just partially depress the aerosol and get more of a trickle coming out and not too much pressure to have it blow back at you

  • your vids are awesome.

    Cheers from a Suzuki rider

  • Helpuful vid thanks and greetings from Poland

  • Thanks for the video. I think i will just duct tape the tube to the end of the cable and have a perfect seal, this seems like it would work better.

  • Nice tool...I find duct tape is the best, if you can get the cable end straight up. Just a one layer 2" little cone, put your tube in & squeeze the tape shut around the tube & give a few squirts. Squirt more if you want to flush out the cable sheath. Super clean & neat for a quick lube.

  • would it work if you just use WD-40 or do you have to use the Cable life lubricant.

  • Oh yeah, anything you can get a tube on, white lithium, squeek stop, electronics cleaner, carb cleaner, silicone spray, etc. If it's still around, the Duralube pump spray is the best lube I've found to date, you can immediately feel the difference just on your fingers. Awesome stuff, though I never got anything out of their other stuff.

  • Thanks ...

  • No! WD-40 will drive out the real grease, Then after a week you will find its gone dry again.

3in1 oil is far better for this application.

If you can afford to spend more money go for the white stuff.

  • Take a rag and wrap it around the bracket before you squirt it, this will prevent lube from flying all over you and your bike. The rag will get wet obviously but again it will prevent lube from flying all over the place.

  • Thx !!

  • Good Vid.

I find this procedure easier and less messy if you cut the straw from the can of lube down. About 2 1/2 inches. And then wrap the tool with a rag and grip it tight while squirting

  • Does this work on gas throttle cable too?

  • Thanks for spending the time to create this video. It is very helpful.

  • would this help the ease and smoothness of the cable. would the clutch be easier to pull in

  • thanks for the DIY

  • Yeah... nice video.

But how do you get the cable-ball back into it's happy place? I'm having a hard time getting it back together. You need to make a Part 3, lol.

  • thanks for the help on lubeing cables its much appreicated..

  • can´t see how this kit helps :S Can´t you just spray right into the end of the cable?

  • The tool is key. It funnels the oil down the cable. Try it once without the tool and you'll get it :D

  • you need some gloves those chemicals arnt healthy for ya hehe

  • DUDE you are a god send!!! where did you get the "tool" and Kit from?

  • Any bike shop should sell both.

  • i got mine on ebay for 10$ including shipping

  • i know nothing of the basics.thanks for posting these videos really helpful.
