Also, für alle selbst ernannten "Gehör-Experten": IT´S NOT OUT OF TUNE!! FOR SURE!!
A bit out of tune. The mixed choir version is nowhere near as good as the male only version. Not a large choral piece, but one that works best with one voice per part and a lot tighter.
Biebl first wrote this on commission for an all-male choir; specifically, a group of firefighters who had a men's chorus associated with their workplace.
But he ALSO wrote the seven-part mixed chorus arrangement; I doubt that he would have bothered if he had intended the male-only version to be definitive. I think the original version was written to fit within the given limitations, and the expanded/revised piece was his statement for posterity.
At the St. Lucia concert in Roanoke around Christmas, we sing this work...It is very moving...The alternation between chant and chorus is quite interesting with the free tempo.

"This is a man's song." Well, not really...

Blech the vowel sounds are really inauthentic. Then again you're all German, so you can't really be blamed.

The ensemble is excellent. Junge, you have proven that you have a good ear and a mean spirit - good for you.
