@thecaldwellsband You can get the build instructions on CDR from my etsy shop for a small fee, i've added a link to the info pane below the video. Cheers :D
Way cool! I like the sound of the triangle waves - a lot less harsh than the squares by the sound of it (or did you roll some of brigthtness off?) I didn't realise it was possible to get anything but square waves from the hex schmitt trigger - what did you do different?

@JimDungu Thanks. Its all done from the output of the schmitt trigger, but the triangle wave is taken from the input side, something i found by mistake. I'll send you a link via PM. Cheers.
I'm shortly going to be making a CDR with the schematic, components list, strip board layout and step by step constuction details for this and the Warring Demons available in my Etsy shop for a small fee. Also there will be kits for both of them including all the components. I'll let you know when I 've finished writing all the instructions if you like. Cheers
Hey, I was just wondering how it would work out if you put different colored filters on each different sensor, that way they might all react about the same to white light but differently from each other to colored light??
Good point, I'll have to try that one. If done with one of those slowly evolving mood lights it would make some strange tones i'm sure. I'm just about to build my first proper one of these into a little box so I'll trying with that. I'm gonna start selling them if all goes well.
Not yet but I'm planning on making a few up to sell, along with another very similar one called Screaming Demons which has a slightly harder sound. I'll upload a vid when I get it done. Thanks for your interest.
Okay, I've bunged a link in the info. Its just a share link so will expire eventually (must get round to setting up Flickr). I hope you can understand my crappy drawing, I'm not used to drawing schematics. Let me know how you get on.
Thanks for pointing that out, hadn't noticed it was coming out of the rear speakers too. guess there must be a bit of phase cancellation between sections of the chip. That's a nice bonus! Glad you like it.
Dang that's cool,I've wanted one since i seen it on an episode of Law and Order S.V.U.......ran across some vids on the tube and did some research wow this technology has been around for years why haven't it really made it into pop music? The multitracking the Beetles used and the synth that they used made it. Anyways Mr. Lody you are the man when it comes to tech....always creating cool stuff.
Thanks very much! Iv'e been wanting to build this sort of stuff for a while after recently re-discovering my interest in electronics, just for noise making purposes. Had no idea how till I bought Handmade Electronic Music by Nicolas Collins. Its a kick ass book, its given me so many ideas.
Yeah I got mine from amazon. There is a second edition too that comes with a Dvd but that one is a bit more expensive. It explains things so easy that you can't go wrong really.
can you upload the schematics for this please?

....or instead of a mood light I could just use a TV or monitor I suppose. Serious food for thought, thanks!

Did you ever permanently build this? It's a great idea!

Thanks man. You can do some pretty cool things with very few electronic components I've learned!
