  • I like the jaws harp bit too. I'm learning the song to sing to my grandson. But some of the lyrics...the bit about the porter turning white... In case you didn't know, a drummer is a travelling salesman.

  • Marion Try Slaughter (April 6, 1883 - September 14, 1948) born in Marion County, Jefferson, Texas, stage name Vernon Dalhart

    inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970,

    into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1981 &

    into the Gennett Records Walk of Fame in 2007.

    Dalhart died in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1948 and is interred there in the Mountain Grove Cemetery.

  • This is one of my favourite songs by Vernon Dalhart. I'm only 30 years old and I love his songs, and play them on my community radio show in Prince George, BC. This is a great video and is very nicely done. Thanks!
