Actually Kenny no they cant. In the UK for example claiming asylum based on sexuality was not a legitimate clam untill december of last year when a high court judge ruled that no individual should be free to love who they want more specifically that men and woman should not face harm or prison based on their sexual preference.

This television commercial is among the most powerful messages that I've seen at conveying the tragic way in which gays are treated in some parts of the world. Often gays are treated with far more disdain than serious criminals, with summary murder of young gay and lesbian persons frequently seen as acceptable in the eyes of the law.
