This happened to me once. It was about foot wide. I grabbed it by the sides and threw it ashore, but he RUN BACK! RUN!! I grabbed it and threw once more and it was snapping jaws with insane sound. He took the bait while I was reeling in a plastic worm. It came out of weeds from under in front of my eyes. I smelled bad and had leaches. I guess it's hard to be turtle.

is a shame that the turtle got hooked but there is not much you can do about it a snapping turtle will bite your finger or even hand of pretty much what it can get its jaws around and it would proberly stress the turlte more if you got it out of the water and tried to get the hook out than just leaving it unless of course it was seriously injured or bleeding at wich point you should go get/call someone that would be able to help... i would proberly have done the same...

@1manvsworld They're actually very fast on land. This is a snapping turtle, not a tortoise. Search for fast turtle on here and you'll see one.

@1manvsworld There IS legitimate reason to be concerned, however - if you're not careful, a snapping turtle will bite any part of you it can reach off with incredible ease. These guys can move pretty fast on land, too, they're not like normal turtles.

@veelalynne i was the other kid talking in the video. me and brendan used to fish at this creek a lot last year and occasionally one of us would accidentally catch one or snag one. we fish off the bottom for cats and carp here and the snappers sit at the bottom and will peck at your bait..sometimes theyll completely take it. ive accidentally caught 1 or 2 this year out of the same spot,not nearly as big but theres plenty in there. bendans got another vid of the second time he got this guy
