  • I don't think I've ever seen something this beautiful before in my life. Those shots of the grass field were splendid.

  • umm unless anybody has an HD monitor, you're not even watching this in 720. It's being downgraded to whatever resolution your screen is.

  • 0.28- the depth of that shot is incredible

  • beautifully shot,very evocative. congratulations

  • If I had a penny for every pixel in this video...I could probably feed all of Africa for a month.

  • @PranayPratijit its 8 million pixels

  • Camera is great. Video story is bad. Catholic Church is happy, life. Not this...

  • oh my god... i love this cam!!!... im buying it in the next 40 years, i promisse

  • 240p is like vevo's 720

  • 0:12 the girl from the exorcist

  • its not full hd ?

  • What are you trying to demonstrate?

  • Perhaps a professional grade encoder was used?

  • I am amazed at how clean this video is on YouTube, even clearer than a lot of other RED footage here on YT. Any encoding tips?

  • i think even with an 40-core mac pro, editing this footage is a pain in the ass

  • @Sytrusze nah, just get a SSD and about 32GB of ram!

  • what`s the name of the song?

  • Nice Sufjan!

  • this video just blow my mind two steps in to the future... AWESOME !! I wish I had enough money to buy this exellent cam.

  • This is amazing! WOW!

  • I'm putting together a crew for my first short film and I'm looking for a Red Cam to use, and someone who knows how to use it. I was lucky enough to be in a Cannes film last year and a Red Cam was used. I liked the look, and the director told me of the virtues of the Cam. I'm located in Long Beach, CA. Today's date 4/28/11 If anyone's interested, hit me up.

  • i thought this was a 4k demo, and then i was like, lol no, its a resolution.

  • @QuaziGNRLNose Me too :D

  • блин какая-же крутая, дайте эту камеру хотя-бы на один день, да что там , хотябы посмотреть!

  • you can get the same quality with a DSLR

  • @poopinface123 you mean the canon 5d Mark II ...believe me there is a big difference. the canon cams a great, the are very good but nowhere near the quality of the RED camera's

  • @michielvanzummeren this camera sucks cock compared to film. 35mm, 65mm and 70mm IMAX film all rip this camera a new asshole.

Thank god The Dark Knight Rises is being shot in 65mm motion picture film on kodak's brand new state of the art VISION 3 Stocks. It will be printed to 70mm IMAX film for theatrical display. Don't believe me? go check the tech specs yourself on IMDB. also check batman begins and the dark knight while your at it.

The red camera is for shit tv shows and commercials.

  • @Bluestarcinema WTF u r talking abt this shit things. Peter Jacksons is directing two parts of the film name "The Hobbit" which budget is 500 millions $, it shooting in RED EPIC M . check out on Wikipedia or on google. RED ONE is made for low budget movie makers or medium budjet & its doing good. their are variety in RED cameras dude. it depends upon BRAIN sensors of RED cameras.

  • @poopinface123

    No you can't, period.

  • ultimative HD for 720p!!!!

  • Fantastic!!!

now who wants 2 buy me this camera??!! :DDDD

  • 720 is glitchy for me

  • Beautiful.

  • Beautiful! :D amazing shots there!

  • I had to watch this 2 times before I got the story. This is AMAZING!

  • People, it doesn't matter anyways. Very few consumer level computer monitors can play even 2.64k, and most computer processors would look at 120fps at 4Kp and they'd say, "WTF??? I'm not playing this. I think I'll lag."

  • эта камера стоит около 300 000 $

  • @Evgenyraskin не пугай так народ, сама камера стоит порядка 20 000

  • @xitrou упс я нолик лишний поставил))

  • cool.........

  • imagine this camera running in 4k!

  • Well, thats just incredible!

  • Gorgeous. Red one almost has a certain aspect that film doesn't, which is very exciting.

  • Good video, but some scenes had a border, other doesn't.

  • lol that 720p lokks like 1080p!

  • You know what would make this video even better? If it was shot on 35mm.

  • its like my computer suddenly shows eye quality images with no pixels somehow!

  • this is really good stuff

  • it is so awesome!

  • I have orgasm by watching this quality and at the same time I'm rhetorically asking me: will I ever have such a camera? and a even more rhetorical question: will this quality be available with a small size camera, like a cell phone, sometime in the future?

  • @ovidiu1987razaila You'll be able to get one for $6K-ish in the near future. It will be the Fixed Lens Scarlet. I'm not sure you know about it.

  • @ImpagliazzoBR wow, i've checked it out. That's small! a few more years and that will be the size of a cellphone.. :D

  • this camera is good, but i like my Canon XH A1 better because it looks closer to 35mm Film without Lenses & adapters. with it the lenses...holy crap its awesome. Its something about RED & its feel, the way it shows light...i like the Film look.

  • wtf is the point when no one can watch this in its native 4k?

  • I might sound dumb, but is this camera able to auto focus while filming? :P and do you see it go blurry like with a lot of camera's when it focussus?

  • Anyone have a towel?

  • screw 1080p, everything should be in 4k and instead of bluray, release everything on RED-Ray mwaahahahahaha mwahahahahha >:)

  • best fucking camera out there

  • Looks better in 240p

  • @Fouge642 trolling

  • I gotta say, this video is so beautiful i got goosebumps. Got of the awesome shots, and the sharpness, color. And we even haven't watched it in 4K!

  • Poor dynamic range

  • what an EPIC fail, no 4k upload, not even a 1080p upload

  • beautiful! absolutey beautiful!

  • amazing!

  • sad...

  • Nice footage and hell yes to Sufjan Stevens!

  • You should re-upload this video to YouTube. They just added 4k support.

  • @minikit234 really?? LOL but when you watch 4k video over internet it would lagg ultra or?

  • @minikit234 no they didn't ..they only boosted the bitrate playback to HD standards...

  • @minikit234 Both of the top rated comments are dumb. This seems to have been shot at 60 and 120FPS, and thus, it can't have been filmed at 4k. Red One supports a maximum of 30FPS at 4k resolution.

  • and i thought 480 p was enough.

  • really nice lens

  • i wish i had that

  • In terms of quality is it any better than a 5d Canon? i can't see it from this

  • @alanbstard4 ehm 4k definitly is better than full hd..

  • @ausgeleiert ok thanks

  • @alanbstard4 the canon 5dmkII and 7d have pretty bad latitude and tonnes of compression artefacts.

  • @RaceXtreme520 ok thanks

  • @lacamaradetodd I think there is too much emphasis on the gear. Get a "doable" deck and learn Final Cut Studio, After Effect, Maya etc (appropriate to your aims). Then along the way, if you do it well, a Red one will be no problem for you to keep learning. Do it for the love of the creation and less for the resolution for its own purpose. There are lots of bad guys with a Red One ;-) Dont get me wrong as many of those guys ROCK too, these are guys you find in the red forum. Good luck my man

  • Red one is $25.000. Expect the double with batteries, drives, tripod etc. The red rocket ($4.750 graphic card) is a must. Render 25 min takes 1,5 day without it. 25 min on a quad core 32GB mac Pro with the card. This is expensive stuff.

  • @Theguywhoneverlived and this is why show like Saturday night live, 24 hours, and "house " recorded with the 5D

  • @Theguywhoneverlived its true. Very, very, very unfortunately this is not a camera for amateurs. I think it's such a shame, if everyone had one of these just imagine the films that would be made. The picture from one of these is like something from the future, I practically drool, it sees the world better than I do. I never realised how far standard HD cams are away from what we see until I saw one of these in action.

  • did you color correct anything?

  • I've been looking for Red Cameras, and i still haven't found a price i know it has to deal with 3 zeros

  • amazing

  • that incredible its so life like

  • that incredible

  • Un mot. MAGNIFIQUE.

  • W O W

  • 2:25 thats messed up.

  • i dont know who the 8 people are who disliked this but for lack of better words they suck ass

  • Ah, so this is why Sanctuary looks so awesome a lot of the time./

  • damn!

  • OHh sexy camera, kill that bitch

  • and then OMFG ORGASM

  • Call me crazy. I still like the colorimitry of the Panasonic line better. The Red is stupid sharp but always looks "off' color-wise to me. Am I blind?

  • REDophiles are weird..

  • this is beautiful quality right here!

  • Does any body know where the shots of the girl and the piano are from? Is it a short film???

  • This camera is SOOO frikin nice.

BUT, mine is almost as good as it :)

  • Dayum

  • aahhh, only like 17000 dollars :)

  • wish i had 30,000 to spend on a camera dayum

  • dude... even this is only a 720p version this camera is farking amazing!

  • I have some questions, Which model is this? can you get 1.85:1 or 2.39:1 aspect ratio with it?

was wondering on getting the cheapest model from red, only if its possible to use a good lens, so it looks like real film 35mm or 65mm.

  • uhhh if you're the piano teacher...

SHES JUST A LITTLE GIRL YOU IDIOT

  • Whoa I creamed in my pants at how clear this looks on my screen O_O

  • this camera is a joke, 4K resolution...? are you kidding me? thats about 12 mega pixels worth of resolution, not to mention a lousy 9 stops worth of dynamic range.

70mm IMAX film = 110 MP worth of res, and kodak vision 2/3 = around 14-16 stops worth of dynamic range.

Inception was shot exclusively on Kodak Vision 3 stocks, in 65mm film. Does anyone here, seriously think.... any one would ever use a red camera to film a major motion picture?

    lawl.

  • @Bluestarcinema Movies made with Red One:

    District 9 (2010)

    The Book Of Eli (2010)

    Antichrist (2009)

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009)

    My Bloody Valentine (2009)

    Angels & Demons (2009)

The Argentine & Guerrilla (Che: Part One & Che: Part One (2008)

    Crossing The Line (2008)

IMAX is way more expensive. Sometimes it's better to use a Red camera. Like closeups.

  • @TheXshot all garbage movies. check out some real movies.

    The Dark Knight

    Inception

    Prestige

    Shutter Island

    etc

    all 65mm film.

  • @Bluestarcinema It will come, digital will supersede film and Red will probably be at the forefront. Give it a couple more years!

  • @spuddle it will not happen for at least 20 years. and by the they will have found something that exceeds digital format. god knows what.

but right now in the year 2010, 35mm film, and 70mm IMAX film destroys digital, and will for at least 20 more years.

good luck finding a camera that takes 100 frames per second @ 110 mega pixels per frame in RAW.

  • @Bluestarcinema We're already at 5K at 120fps bro for only $50K.

Digital will destroy IMAX film any minute now.

  • @ImpagliazzoBR

5K? is that it? 35mm scans in at 6K on the Arri Film Scanner. Try 25K at 150 FPS in 70mm IMAX. Don't forget your 8 stops of exposure lattitude, kodak vision 3 has around 15-16 stops.

send me a mesage in about 15 years when digital catches up.

  • @Bluestarcinema The Red Epic 617 Pro already does 28k....

  • @PartialtoGreen Already? 617 is a prospect, it will exist... In some years.

  • @Bluestarcinema Ok... But how much is it? RED Epics are already rolling out to big time directors and DPs and it does 5k at 120fps for $50K.

Now it was announced a proprietary HDR mode called 'HDRx' that is delivering 18 stops of DR and is not using any yet before used HDR technique.

Again, all of that for $50K, of course 65mm IMAX scanned at 8K can be the bomb, but RED will always be cheaper.

  • @ImpagliazzoBR red is for cheap tv shows and commercials. 65mm is for major motion pictures.

all of those motion pictures shot on the red are extremely low budget, and garbage to say the least.

Hollywood doesn't care about budget, they take the best image quality possible, and that is 65mm film.

  • @Bluestarcinema Well, you started by saying that 35mm and IMAX destroys digital, now you set them apart, why not start with this point if that's how you see it?

Digital is surpassing 35mm as of now, cleaner, more sensitive, 12+stops of latitude.

What were predictions of this happening? Film conservatives were saying 10 years? Well, 10 years just became now.

Now you're saying 20 years for surpassing IMAX, Let's say 5 just to be conservative.

    ;)

  • @ImpagliazzoBR of course I set them apart, 70mm = 110MP worth of resolution, 35mm = 18MP. Thats a Huge difference.

The best digital STILL camera in the world right now is a medium format 53MP. The best digital Cinema camera is 12MP.

    70mm IMAX = 110MP @ 100 FPS, with 14-15 stops of latitude.

Digital with IMAX Specs in 5 years? in raw? No.

If you think otherwise your retarded.

  • @Bluestarcinema

35mm may be scanned at 6k, but after rough cuts, post production and printing will probably end being shown in theaters at 2k. While digital may be a while away from catching up to IMAX, it has major cost and time advantages. Stop hating on RED, it is an excellent tool for independent filmmakers. Not everyone has Hollywood budgets, and District 9 was a great film. As for 5 years from now, neither you nor anyone else can be sure of what we'll have.

  • @schreiberbj I'm not hating the red cam.

The bottom line is digital, LOOKS like digital. And when something looks digital it looks cheap and ameture. It looks like a commercial, a cheap TV show, etc.

The imperfections of film create art, and make a movie look and Feel like a movie. Grain, emulsion specs, gate regulation (vibrating of credits at the start/end of a film) all contribute to this. All of which, do not come with digital. Most real directors prefer this, and prefer the look of film.

  • @Bluestarcinema Good stories make good movies, unique views on life, cinematography basis rest on light and optics, not light gathering devices.

Film has a feel, of course, but this feel doesn't automatically transform a certain thing into art.

  • @schreiberbj >>>printing will probably end being shown in theaters at 2k<<<

Workflows are 4K and 6K, and printed at those resolutions. I've never heard of a high budget 35mm film being downsized to 2K except for blu-ray transfer.

You should check out BBC earth, and go take a look at what cameras they used in antarctica and churchill (for the polar bears).

try running that red camera in -40C for more than 5 minutes. I Dare you.

  • @Bluestarcinema 18MP with 15 stops of DR? Sounds just like EPIC with HDRx to me.

Just remember DI involves de-grain, film scanned at 6K without degrain wouldn't fly on the big screen. On the other hand, digital is clean at ISO 3200.

Match (and surpass in some areas) 35mm? Check...

Surpass IMAX? On the 'to do' list.

    ;)

  • @Bluestarcinema Digital looked cheap (artificial gamma curve, interlaced frames, oversharpening), it got better, it's improving and it won't stop improving any time now.

As I already stated, Alexa and M-X RED Cameras are the proof of this. Images from these cameras don't look cheap in any way.

One recent example is 'The Social Network' trailer. I can't find one single famous flaw from digital imaging devices there.

  • @ImpagliazzoBR I'll check it out

  • @Bluestarcinema Not to mention that is not only RED pushing the envelope, Arri Alexa is a stellar camera!

Look for the ProVideoCoalition article called "My Love Affair with Alexa" written by DP Art Adams.

  • its a same because at the moment youtube only supports 1080p resolution i guess in the future it will support 2k and 4k

  • @MrFXMaster Yea, I suppose every one will have 4K monitors too eh?

4K = 12 mega pixels per frame, @ 24 frames per second. got an internet connection that can handle about 30 MB per second?

    lul

  • i`ve got two of them... one in my work and one in my bedroom... :D

  • WHERE IS THE 4K????????

  • @dashizl Just look at the uploading date.

  • Good!! Sound and video ;)

  • fail! this is not 4k resolution xD

  • This is Sick xD

  • the audio sounds excellent

  • Amazing!!! How much do these cameras cost? I know there pretty freakin expensive. Nice Work

    Beautiful

  • @4KCURL 20,000 usd

  • @GDYP add lens set

  • what does it record onto?

  • WOW

  • So to view 4k, do you choose 720p or just leave at 360 or is there another choice to view in 4k?

  • RED is awesome.

  • red make some stunning cameras.

  • -cough- thats 720p

  • Waka waka - Shakira

  • beauitiful

  • yh reupload to the 4k version youtube just added it

  • @Appleaddict22 it dont make very more differents ..its good 720

  • re-upload to the 4k HD option, youtube just added it :D

  • OMFG O.O

  • i think im in love

  • wow, red camera is actually insane!

    360p is like HD quality!

  • ME WANT!

  • i love this camera

  • I am on an 24" Imac. It looks OUTSTANDING! As good if not BETTER than most movie's I see.

  • i just cried

  • We humans are so unlogical. The real life has the best quality! But why are we breath-taken of the good quality on the screen?

  • @cobaltblade12 It allows us to tell a more powerful story. Each film will show you a version of life you have not experienced, so the better the quality, the more profound the experience.

  • @cobaltblade12 You can do so many amazing things with film though! (or digital) I think the quality of this has been altered just enough to make it better than the real life quality. the shallow depth of field and contrast and color of everything makes it incredible!

  • its a fucking movie camera.

  • Comment removed

  • Salut, à 1:33 c'est pas Château Gaillard? Je crois reconnaître...

  • What's up with that video?

Alright, sharp pictures, colors are fine. Did YouTube convert it so badly?

At 0:12 e.g. the upper left corner hast pretty bad gradients. Right next to the head of the girl (on the left) there is also a bad area. A thing that shouldn't happen wit such a camera.

Or at about 0:22 (the open music sheet) the fold has got distorted colors...

Did YouTube do that to the video or is it generally the codec?

Btw, beautiful video with great song. Wellmade, love it! Name of song?

  • @outsideheaven Youtube's compression is AWFUL.

  • Oh my god. I wish I had a few million dollars to not feel guilty about purchasing a 20,000$ camera

  • I'm on a mission to obtain this camera... but then I'll have to buy Final Cut Pro and a Mac Pro... See ya in five years!

  • @dabanditisback You don't need a Mac Pro. Apple have made Final Cut so it works on any new Mac. It'll work pretty comparably on an iMac or MB Pro and decently on a Mac Mini or Macbook.

  • @SmallDisasters That's cool. It probably takes four days to process 30 seconds with the Mac Mini though.

  • what are some good videos on the RED?

  • Now the only problem is finding the $20k necessary for the camera. :(

  • fuck me thats clear

  • omg just amaaaaazing O______O wenn ich groß bin kauf ich mir eine :D

  • This is my favorite song. I was shocked to hear it on here! NICE Quality.

  • dude, RED camera=sex.

soo amazing, man. where'd you shoot this?

tell me everything about this vid and makin' it

  • I have watched this video a number of times.

Very inspiring demo you have put together. Gave me a few ideas!

  • Ill take this over film any day.

  • Such a sad ending. :(
