    At 6'2.. you should be able to dunk.. Try working on sprinting so you can have more burst.

  • i start doin full body stretches 4 days ago after i wake up and b4 i go to bed for 10-15 minutes..i was doin plyometrics the other day and i felt an terrific improvement it felt like i was jumping maybe 5-7 inches higher and thats how many more iches i need to dunk again after 4 years

  • hey coach selby your awesome i found your videos and used these stretches and went from almost dunking 9 foot one day to dunking 9.5 the next day im 5"8 and 14 and still growing im close to rim but i was having bad knee problems and forgot my braces so i only attempted 3 jumps that night and i wasted 2 hitting the orange box under the rim i hit my wrist on it so im hoping to get rim next time i go to a gym

  • @stretchexpert just jumpers knee i have to pop my knee caps back in after i play but ive been riding an exercise bike and its helping my vertical and my knees so im hoping to try and dunk by the end of the summer even though its 105 degress here so i cant really workout outside without taking a break every 10 minutes

  • @stretchexpert well im doing a lot of squat jumps up n down bleachers jumping on those pylo boxes stuff like that our coach is very intense in work outs and i have seen an increase in my vert

  • Being flexible and having a strong core is all you need for so many things in sports. Power and speed are directly related to how strong your core is and how flexible you are.

    People under estimate the power of increased flexibility. Increase your joints range of motion and you will get an extra inch of two or more depending on your other trainings. Check out F+S=P video. You can improve... YES you can!

    learn and practice how to jump off both legs. I'm doing that now lol, watching vids of people my height dunking

  • i haven't tried this yet or even knew about it till now. but whenever i played pickup games last summer, i noticed i jumped 2-3 inches higher with a nice long stretch, which not only benefited me but also less fatigue every game

  • smh...stretching has tons to do with your vert. that is basic stretching for the most part. i agree that hours of stretching is a waste of time, but 10-15 minutes can make a large difference in your vert.

    Plyo = fail

    Weight lifting = success

  • @cptmuska if you aren't a pro player, then you'll have to suffer and endure a heavy gutling weight over the years. Because you are talking about James white(might be a bad example) or LBJ, who are well beyond 6 footers. Therefore suffer!

  • @billysue2 hamstring and abducter stretches will help with explosiveness stretching help the retracting force of the quads and gluts if you knew anything about the human anatomy you would know the faster those two muscles retract the quicker the later contract.

  • @pawnshopr hip abductors dont contribute to jumping for a start.By retracting I presume you mean stetching before contraction.The amount of stetching of the quads and glutes in jumping is of a limited range and nobody would be that inflexible.I have a degree in spots rehab,a huge amount of which is anatomy.

  • @pawnshopr running jumps off 1 foot require a greater reactive strength(like that seen in plyos) and less strength than static jumps off 2 feet.The dip before the jump is even less in running jumps as the speed needs to be converted into lift

    your a fucking moron stretching has everything to do with how much power your muscles can create and release. layers Track & field olympians and anything to do with any sport for that matter. Your muscles have to be warm and loose to realease any power. Go to the gym and jump cold no stretching no running no nothing tell me how high you jump then, stretch like this guy is showing you, every lower muscle. Calfs, hamstrings, quads, all they legs. then tell me how high you jump. dipshit

  • @billysue2 dude stretching has tons to do with jumping. Stretching loosens and makes the muscles more springy. I gained 4 inches to my vertical after doing nothing but stretching hardcore for 2 and a half months. Oh and big strong muscles do have something to do with jumping ability although having lots of fast twitch muscles might be the most important thing for jumping high.

  • certainly dont want loose muscles for jumping and you cant make them springier by stretching.4 inches would be a lot of gain on a good training program,stetching is a very small part of training.

  • Most of you have been gaining because you're all untrained with such low strength levels. But it's easy to tell your gains will clearly stop at such weak bad vertical. Again, it will not make you fly even to 40 inch running vertical. However, that doesn't mean that jumping has to be genetics. I's just, you will respond to any retarded training there is.Just jumping is not suppose to build bigger muscles. Bigger muscles are stronger no matter what you've been told.

  • your body has to be warmed up that means for example running stairs jumping rope, just getting warmed not with water. steam helps than u can stretch

    if ur not warm you feel the differents its gonna hurt more than ur warm so get warm 1st!

    before I did this I was barely touching the bottom of the rim, now i can jump and touch it everytime pretty easily and I even touched it running and jumping off 1foot (im a 2foot jumper) I could never do that before.

  • If you want to increase your vert-jump you should go to the gym and do deadlifts and powercleans. My friend gained 5 inches in about a month that way....

  • Kadour Ziani is fucking skinny! Hes 5'11" and could run up 56" vertical! Thats is he is fucking uses stretching as major exercise for fucking 4 hours!!!!! That nigger did not even touch a squat fucking rack in his life! If you want a 40 inch plus run up vertical go to the gym and squat twice your body weight 5 sets of 8 at least twice a week.

  • i have actually heard that doing quick stretches before working on your verticle jumping actually helps you.

  • yo no offense selby but holding a strecth for two seconds will do absoutley nothing. It does not cause tears in the muscles. the only way that can happen is if you do the strech wrong. a strech is to be held for about 15 seconds. streching is important and it can improve your vertical, but not for two seconds

    ankle weight training that this dude was presenting and do some tilt jumps from troy mcgreg flying 101 whatever and my vert increased instantly to 4 inches more!i don't use any jumpsoles.

  • This is true.. it does help vertical jump. I'm 6 feet and I since I started stretching....really stretching (hurts).. i could dunk with two hands easily. The biggest secrets is your .. a shit,, i dont how to translate.. but its the muscle above the feet ,, yeah that one.. up and down 50 times everynight. Abdominals and shoulders help alot too.., if you do this in a consistent basis for two month... you'll be dunking.

  • It does make a huge difference,I can't explain you exactly why or how,but since I started streching the vertical jump increase a lot. I also run like 2 kilometers every two days and so weigh lifting a couple of days in the week (specially shoulders).Another excercise that help me a lot was to place myself underbasket and score downlow over and over again as fast and high as you could using left and righ hand (20 consecutive).This helps because your body gets used to the weight of the ball.

  • I barely could touch the rim before this, After all this excecises, running, shooting under, gym.. I could windmill and won a dunk contest in a state tournament. An injury ended my journey of basketball when i was 21.. for exactly that.. jumping so high. A guy lower his back and I my body weight landed with 1 hand.. breaking it.), so..its great to dunk, but being that short (6-1).. I would use it for my jump shot more than going inside and dunk. Any way.. I garantee you'll dunk if you follow
