When the professor ask: "What would you expect of this side of the class if the other half is unusually healthy ?" He should add: "unusually healthy with respect to the mean of the class." Because if he is understood as meaning: "unusually healthy with respect to the national health mean", then any rational person would observe that there are similar conditions of nutrition, happiness and well being for both sides of the class, then the inference would be that both sides are unusually healthy.
