How do you kill and drive out these little bastards? In northern europe where I'm from they cause so much damage we can't live like this anymore. My dad lives near a river, they chewed down most of the beautiful pine trees in his yard, they cause the river to flood all the time, it's a disaster. We shoot some of them, but they keep multiplying too much. What natural predator is supposed to keep their population in check?
Natural predators are bears. I would rather live beside beavers than bears;) I suggest removing fallen trees in the area to prevent the beaver's natural urge to build a dam. I know some people that did that. There was a family of six beavers and they were trapped and relocated elsewhere in a more remote location. I am not sure if that is possible where you live. In Canada, we have more remote areas and we depend greatly on beavers. They save many species of fish and plants.
@dolcemaddalena they just keep chopping down new trees. We have forests where seems like every 4th or 5th tree is damaged and dying or cut down completely by beavers.

I want to know how the hell they build these things! I was just watching Swamp Loggers and they had to tear down a beaver dam that was made of two very thick trees and tied with weeds and branches. It took them half an hoour to tear it down using a truck and grappling hook! It was very sturdy, and about 10 feet wide, maybe high 4 feet above water!
Beavers really are wonderful animals ... they are a keystone species, creating natural habitats for other animals and plants, too. Beavers deserve to be protected.

We actually do a lot to prevent beavers damming up vital streams. Where I live there is a volunteer crew that comes out to break apart the dams annually. This is a futile effort though, they need to relocate the beavers.
Did you know that beavers are the most vicious rodents of North America? When kits are born, momma beaver kicks out daddy beaver temporarily from the lodge, as he might cannibalize the young. Daddy beaver wouldn't realize yet that they were his kits, as they are born without a smell, so he would bite them to death in order to bring momma back into heat. Daddy also evicts his 2 year old offspring by biting them until they leave. If they do not, he kills them with more bites. Aren't beavers cute?

Ecosystem is not designed for eternity. It changes and beavers help to reshape things around so I would not call it destruction in the long run. They are mostly destructive when man transported and relocated to someplace they have no business to be in. then the ecosystem will be shocked. The erosion of woodlands is not always a bad either.

They can flood huge fields by making their "ponds", eradicating previous ecosystem (similar to man made dams) and they can also devastate young forests over short periods of time. I agree that they are cute but saying things like "all beavers do is help" is stupid because they can easily change ecosystems (destroy forests, create lakes) and that's not helping at all... When you think about it, beavers are very similar to humans :P
Not really. Beavers don't live in every corner of the Earth like humans. Beavers are just doing what they were created to do (including breaking things down -- which is what nature does naturally). Well why don't you do yourself, and everyone else a favor. Go to a beaver dam that has a leak, stand in the void. AND BLOW YOUR FUCKING HEAD OFF. One less stupid human, and the dam hole would be filled with a big piece of shit. Problem solved.

If "destry" means destroy, how do we "destroy the world"? So what you are saying is that we have the power to destroy worlds and have already done so. Do we have the power to fix it? Don't you think the earth is a bit more resilient than that?

We actually do a lot to prevent beavers damming up vital streams. Where I live there is a volunteer crew that comes out to break apart the dams annually. This is a futile effort though, they need to relocate the beavers.

Did you know that beavers are the most vicious rodents of North America? When kits are born, momma beaver kicks out daddy beaver temporarily from the lodge, as he might cannibalize the young. Daddy beaver wouldn't realize yet that they were his kits, as they are born without a smell, so he would bite them to death in order to bring momma back into heat. Daddy also evicts his 2 year old offspring by biting them until they leave. If they do not, he kills them with more bites. Aren't beavers cute?

My french teacher looks like a beaver and i asked him "how do you say beaver in french?" and everyone burst out laughing and he just said "that's not a relevent question" and me and my friend started singing "I'm too sexy for my dam too sexy for my dam, new york and japan. I'm a beaver you know what i mean and i do my little turn on the catwalk..." and the rest is history.

Ecosystem is not designed for eternity. It changes and beavers help to reshape things around so I would not call it destruction in the long run. They are mostly destructive when man transported and relocated to someplace they have no business to be in. then the ecosystem will be shocked. The erosion of woodlands is not always a bad either.

Do you all actually know that beavers also cause a lot of damage? They can flood huge fields by making their "ponds", eradicating previous ecosystem (similar to man made dams) and they can also devastate young forests over short periods of time. I agree that they are cute but saying things like "all beavers do is help" is stupid because they can easily change ecosystems (destroy forests, create lakes) and that's not helping at all... When you think about it, beavers are very similar to humans :P

Not really. Beavers don't live in every corner of the Earth like humans. Beavers are just doing what they were created to do (including breaking things down -- which is what nature does naturally). Humans, on the other hand, harbor insidious greed, jealously, envy, and every other sin we can possibly partake in to cause serious damage to the world as a whole. Don't you agree?
