  • nice need that for my ak47

  • What about ease of zeroing? Does anyone have thoughts on advantages/disadvantages of sighting in these two products?

  • Your weapon is on fire, and needless to say with a magazine inserted as well. Hope this weapon is NOT condition 1. Regardless is its condition 3 or 1 Weapon safety rule. "Keep your weapon on safe until you are ready to fire." Basics.

  • I got a pretty good deal on a comp ml3 2moa on amazon. $506 with a free weaver QR 1/3 co-witness mount. The mount is pretty nice and also has a spare battery compartment like the larue

  • How about moving the aimpoint forward so you can use your backup sites if you need to? Former Marine, multiple combat vet here....just sayin

  • I prefer trijicon reflex it don't need batteries...

  • the extra cost of the aimpoint mounts almost makes the compm4 a better deal

  • I finally broke down and bought a CompML3 for my AR today. Yeah the cost hurts, but I say go big or go home! LOL

  • A tactical what now? Carbin? Carbine?

  • @dave38x

    To-mato vs.Tom-ato

    Po-tato vs. Pot-ato

  • Thanks for the comparison. Is it wrong I still can't decide which to throw on my AR?

  • I had a friend who spent a bunch of money for an EOTech Holographic Sight for his M4A1 AIRSOFT gun.. Yeah. Let's just say this person is not my friend anymore. *sigh* Idiot.

  • You can't use your backup sights with the aim point so if it failed you couldn't get to your backups right away so I like EOTECH!!!!

  • @glockguy620 That is not accurate. I have my COMP M2 co-witnessed with my irons.

  • @glockguy620 Umm actually you can........ it depends on the mount you use.

  • im seriously considering an aimpoint which ones are non magnified?

  • @farawayniceguy I dont think any aimpoints are magnified...

  • I like the Trijicons, but I think a 100 bucks in 12 years is too much... Also they dotn make cool sights for the MINI 14. The best MINI 14 sight I have seen is the AIMPOINT 9000sc.

  • Trijicon Reflex should be in the running as well. No batteries ever, but it does cost 100 bucks to recharge it after 12 years of use... 8.33 per year...

  • Very great and informative vid! But for those who come from military background will tell you to buy the EOTech holosight, and then buy the EOTech side-flip magnifier (if you have the extra cash)

  • what kind of scope should i get for my M-14 socom 16?

  • @wowggscrub Sell it, get a MINI 14 TAC with a AIMPOINT 9000sc :)

  • @MrAppleseed88 no way i just this .

  • awesome vid!

  • nutnfancy doing what they do best.... best reviews ive come across

  • Also a single point sling for a moss 500.

    Thanks~

  • Can you guide me in the direction, of putting a ACOG, EOTech; onto my Mossberg 500??

  • @MikeHernandez1974 Youll just have to get the picatinny rail for your reciever, which i believe is already drilled and tapped.

Acog would not be a good idea for a shotgun, due to the fact all the Acogs have magnification, eotech would be a great choice.

  • Roses are red, Violets are blue, When your ARMS mount explodes, Go buy a LaRue!

  • I like the EOTECH because it looks like a little golden armored hover car, and the sight picture looks like a tasty donut.

  • @cobrachoppergirl you must be a cop lol JK

  • LOL, I like how if your lens caps are flip up like that with the inside part to the sky, all the are doing is CATCHING snow and rain in them on the inside cover. Then when you close them down, guess where all that moisture gets trapped. Something to think about with your $500 brilliantly designed site.

  • Are you from Maine? or is that just where your rifle was made? I wanted my Bushmaster to be from Maine but back in april Bushmaster was sold to NY so thats where mine was made. I live like 45 mins from Windam Maine.

  • @TheSilas324 You live in Maine? I'm jealous. I live on the opposite side of the United States, in Seattle Washington. I've been told that Maine is like the East Coast version of Washington state. I've always wanted to visit Maine and someday live there, most likely in upstate Maine. Any suggestions on where I should visit in Maine this summer? My wife and I are going to fly into Portland ME and rent a car then drive around the state looking for a house. Any suggestions on cities we should visit?

  • aimpoints direction sucks they have a really nice product but horrible reticle and i personally for the money they should through in a mount that costs nothing really to make and like a full size scope without a magnification model like a cheep acog 800 bucks something like thats same quality though i mean not a signal model with even 2x come on aim point steel eotech reticle and get a little magnification in there you would have the best product on the market till then i will use the eotech

  • Great info. I was thinking of getting a tact scope but wasn't sure what to get.

  • i like the name EOtech :)

  • That 553 would look nice on my coyote tan ACR

  • Do they make the 553 in FDE minus the NV mode?

  • Depends on what you buy from SWFA, i bought a burris from them and spent less than i could find it anywhere else including the sunshade and flip cap package for 20$

  • EoTech wins

  • I'm in Air Force Security Forces and I hate the M68 (M2). Just an annoying sight altogether. Yes, in CQB it has its uses but in Afghanistan (or Montana) we're dealing with long ranges and the M68 is not helpful

  • dude when you put it in night vission mode turn off the lights

  • What kinda of optic can you use on an AK rifle? Im looking for one. And how far can you realistically shoot an AK? Thanks if any info can be given.

  • @ROGUEDUDE01 russia use eotech sight too look in my channel fsb unit

  • I used an Eotech HWS on my issue weapon in Afghanistan. In my humble opinion, for a belt fed weapon (M249E3) it is absolutely perfect. The 65 MOA circle around the dot is a good indicator of your "beaten zone" and helps when your buddies are calling out clock direction and you're constantly shifting fire to the left or right to answer their distance and direction calls. My experience has been that the Eotech is preferable to the Aimpoint *ON BELT FED WEAPONS*.

  • Besides battery life, Whats so bad about using the cheapish mass produced red dot such as one from a sporting goods store. I use a $50 one and it works great and the battery life isn't too bad. I also use it on my paintball marker and it has taken a beating and works as good as new.

  • @peoplerox Because on a real firearm, your life may depend on the function of that sight. I used a Barska red dot on my AK for the longest time with no problems but after a 2 year period of abuse it died. You can't beat the quality of an Aimpoint/EOtech.

  • Liked the video. * Subscribed*

  • what are yur impressions on the multi powers with the piggy backed red dot on top

  • i use the aimpoint cco in the army and i am not happy with it. -too much tunnel vision. -too much parallax

  • @ook3vin I agree.

  • I think the mud situation is overstated, if you get the eotech completely covered in mud, you will need to clear the lenses.....which takes about as much time to pop the caps on the aim point. I think you are much more likely to forget to pop the caps open in an intense situation than to render your sight unusable by dirt.

  • Does anyone here know if you can fit a EOtech 512 with 3x magnifier on a G3A4??

  • Thanks !

  • What is the backup sight you have?

  • Whatever you do just to order from outdoorbunker it takes a month

  • Aimpoint pro is the best optic I have shot to date. If I had a 3x magnified scope for it is be ready for anything.

  • I agree with most all points in this video, my biggest issue with what he said, is you have to click through night vision to get the aimpoint on fast. Here's the issue, the aimpoint can stay on for something like 5 years on setting 7. If your sight is on well before you pick up your weapon there is no worry about clicking through night vision....

  • Also, one more thing I'd like to mention and I don't remember you covering this, one usefull purpose of the ring in that EoTech, is to help estimate range.

    /watch?v=5WYsut1M5A4

  • eotech wont even survive in combat...AIMPOINT IS THE BEST AND IS WHAT WE USED IN THE MILITARY.

  • FOV is the deal breaker on an M68 CCO for me, one little thing you can't observe, can get you killed in a fire fight, plus I like the durability of the EOTech sight itself. As far as the weight goes, like nutnfancy presented, it's really the model you have, and since I don't put tons of "shit" on my AR, and (once I get my tax stamp) m4, weight's never been a problem for me, love my EOTech, and I got it for 400$ great deal. Another excellent review, nutn' keep em' comming.

  • nie russian army use eotech too

  • For lefty shooters like me, I believe I cannot open both my eyes when using Aimpoint. The switch on the right side obstruct my field of view on my right eye. Eotech though goofy looking device is universally better in any application.

    Good vid Bro. :)

  • eotech is just goofy looking...

  • Watched this again a year and a half later and thought one thing was missing: The EoTech has a serious shock protection on the top and sides.

I agree on the lack of covers and all, but the protection on that thing is INSANE!!!!

  • @CTKix he mentions it in minute 22:00

  • @CTKix that is a good point. however i have been overseas in the desert with the aimpoint with the magnifier and those bad boys take a beating. some of my soilders also had eotech's on theirs and very durable protection as well. however im going to have to go to the aimpoint on this one. just from my use in the field and experience with it.

  • Just in case you care, the battery life of 1,000 hours is estimated when using lithium batteries. 600 hours with alkaline. That's as of 9/22/11, so it's possible that information wasn't specified when this video was posted. It is still far less than the Aimpoint, but something to consider.

  • also, the eotech has much better eye relief. and the 65 moa circle dominates for cqb is used properly. Aimpoint with mount is heavier than eotech 5 series so dont let this guy tell you different. The XPS Eotechs are the best, fastest most advanced combit optics available. Aimpont RDS is not in the same league as the EOTECH HWS sights...dont be fooled. There not even close... Aimpoint is an awesome RDS but its still a RDS restriced to eye relief tube style and parellax issues...dont buy 1!

  • @rallysoob I Agree i cant justify $700ish for a comp m4 red dot. so it would be ACOG or EOtech but thats apples to oranges.

  • EOTEch XPS is way better than any aimpoint made because it is parellax free. no aimpoint is parellax free. Not too mention the screen on the eotech can be shattered, covered with mud etc and you can still see the retice perfectly...2eyes open on target. aimpoints dont do that... EOTech xps is lighter than the comp aimpoint series but the H1/T1 are lighter but also 4moa. 1moa is best and EOTech is only one with 1moa dot. Aimpoint has more battery life and thats the 1 and only perc. eotech is best

  • What type of holster do you have mounted on your vest? If you can send me a private message to let me know thats cool. I am wanting one for springfield XD service model.

  • I think it's pretty easy for anyone to make a non-biased choice on these 2 optics.

Look through them... Which catches your eye better? I went with an aimpoint.

  • Very thankful for the vid- wondering if you have used the aimpoint swivel magnifier with the aimpoint- granted price and weight come into play- but I'd value your thoughts.

  • Thank you very much for the introduction on the sights.

  • very informative! thanks for the review.

  • Comment removed

  • thanks for the review, i actually chose to go the aimpoint PRO

  • EOtech is the one for me 'cause its built like an Abram tank.

  • ACOG ta31 RCO. These red dots cant hold a flame to it. Battery life? What batterys? Dosent work in CQB? Simple, put the red reticle on target and shoot, you dont have to wait for the magnification on your dominant eye to clear up because you see the target with the non dominant and the reticle with the dominant. Bindon aiming concept works, you just have to understand it and your brain will do all the work for you. Not for nothing Nuttn, great vid as always.

  • @spudnick3490 Yes. I love you for saying that. So, you British?

  • maggrotmens, thats because with the bolt forward and the pressure relieved off of the hammer spring (the way any AR-15 owner with any gun care knowledge) should store the weapon. Most likely with a snap cap in the chamber. Or, you can cycle your bolt, put the weapon on safe, and keep all that tension on the hammer spring and wear it out faster if you like to buy gun parts.

    however, good observation on safety

  • the weapon aint even on SAFE

  • @maggrotmens Look up how Ar-15s work, specifically the safety after being dry fired.

  • Aimpoint all the way

  • aimpoint works on nightvision too, the first six clicks are visible in IR

  • @flip720cc Some of them are NV, some arent.

  • Too bad aimpoints look like shit.

  • "Carbean"?

    It's pronounced "Carbine"

    Fucking Americans >_>

  • @spudnick3490

    U mad?

  • @B9Killer

    I dunno...Am I? I don't think so.

Just point out things to retards :)

  • @spudnick3490 Actually, it's pronounced both ways.

  • @spudnick3490 way to sound it out with your keyboard, dumbass. just pointing out that you're retarded.

  • Sucks

  • guys I have a little dilemma. As far as I am concerned I have NO dominant eye. Does this mean I can't aim down an EOTech with both eyes open?

  • @nutnfancy oh, and also please tell me how these scopes stand up to recoil. and im not talking 5.56 recoil either, im talking heavy hitting, bone shattering barnes buster type ammo. just curious thats all :)

  • can you please explain to me how exactly those sites keep their "zero" after you take them off your gun and then put them back on again? im an avid hunter and iv already made up my mind that i want to try a red dot scope vs the traditional cross hair scopes. im going to get one of those new ruger scout 308 rifles and i totally dig the idea of eye relief. anyone who has been hunting and needed to make a quick kill shot on a monster buck or a hogzilla would know exactly what im talking about lol

  • hey not sure if you already been asked this but what type of folding irons do you use

  • What optic gives the best balance of cqc capability and accuracy out to say 400 yards for an AR-15? I'm looking for something good from 0 to 400 yards...

  • Comment removed

  • I just read that aimpoint has a new one out for officers and civilians... it's suppose to be around under five hundred and the battery life lasts up to three years. Have you heard about this? I'd really like to get one where it doesn't take batteries.

  • amazing vid, shame the ratings are disabled.

  • @ethosflux Thanks ethos! Good to see you. -- Veri

  • Great review. I didn't even realize this video was by nutnfancy. I am a fan and have always enjoyed your outdoor videos. I just finished building my AR-15 from scratch and was looking into optics. My buddy who works at the gun store in town likes his EOTech because of the field of vision. I'm with you on the smaller dot and closing down the hatches. Expensive decisions!!

  • Very good review.

  • my god $500. thats what my gun is worth

  • @treehawk1996 Ya the prices of gun sights blows me away in general, seems like they shouldn't be more then 100, unless some super high grade scope for sniper rifles.

  • Thanks, I really appreciate your advice... I think I will go with the Aimpoint magnifier and the ML3. Thanks!

  • also hey nutnfancy, if you didnt already know the eotech 517 model has 3 or so 1 moa dots below your center dot for shooting at different yardages and uses AA batteries. i love aimpoint battery life but using AA to me seems to negate it since theyre everywhere. just a bit of info if you didnt already know

  • blah blah blah... eotechs suck and i have a bucket full of them to prove it. eotechs are very well made. if they werent they wouldnt be on a grunts m4 very much.

  • move that aimpoint up!

  • very informative nutn! i prefer EOTech simply because I've shot it on ARs and Shotguns most of my shooting career. I'll have to look around for an aimpoint to try out and compare.

  • i picked up my my 553 off ebay for $410 which is an amazing price for that model. very happy. oh and u can see the nv setting w/o using nv gogglesu just have to be in close to pitch black and turn it all the way up. wich is nice if the lighting of ur environment changes. so as u go to dark u hit the nv button as sort of a quick select and it is low enough to not kill ur natural nightvision, which i have found ur normal setting for a brighter environment will.

  • I found this very informative. Thank you.

  • also would u guys recommend a comp m3 or m4?

  • i want to put an aimpoint comp m3 on my ak (yes i already installed the rail system) where can i get a good deal on one????

  • I´m really wondering about the black stripe on the EOTech. Arround 05:51 I mean. Why this? I´ve seen it now on a couple of pictures, but why is this disguised?

  • @hagalazronin He has his serial numbers covered. It's on his rifle too. It's very common to do this for youtube vids and pics.

  • @86HinesWard2Rings you must be having hearing problems or you're just don't know a fucking thing about guns.

  • @Diidiidii4 Your an idiot kid.

  • @spiderdart look who's talking

  • youve got cool videos are you in the army

  • @toskillfullXD recently retired LT. Col of the USAF

  • EOTech fan here!

  • What is a carbean?

  • @86HinesWard2Rings A carbine is a rifle with a retractable stock and shorter barrel for close engagements.

  • @adam95s It doesn't necessarily need a retractable stock, that's just the M4. A carbine is basically a shorter version of a rifle.

  • @86HinesWard2Rings google "carbine" dumbshit

  • @Diidiidii4 No shit you moron. carbine not carbean.

  • @86HinesWard2Rings you mad bro, because you're the one who can't spell in the first place.

  • @86HinesWard2Rings

It's how you're supposedly supposed to pronounce "carbine." I've heard both ways common enough to make it not even matter.

  • Eotech needs to crank down the power they're using to produce the outer circle so it's dim and uses less power, or make it optional. That way you'll feel the center dot has more precision and save energy at the same time. That would be my first suggestion.

  • Can you do a review on trigicon acog?

  • What do you think about either EOTech or Aimpoint 3x magnifiers

  • I use an Aimpoint M3 and an Eotech 3x magnifier riding on a LaRue flip to side mount. It is a heavy setup, but I can convert from distance to CQB with one flip. I also have an Aimpoint micro that is attached to a Daniel Defense 1 o'clock offset rail. I can use it alone or as a spotter for my Barksa 6.5 to 24 (on a LaRue quick detach). I love the options - light to heavy and close to far. Keep up the great vids!

  • hey nutnfancy, all i see when I look at pics videos of the military in afgan i see nothing but Trijicon ACOGs, how much if at all does the military actually use aimpoints or EOtechs?

  • @trp11078 My brother is a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force, and he said they use Aimpoints

  • @Titanium181991 Well there you go, thanks man!

  • o like the eotech withy some sort of maginfier.

  • Eotech looks cool. That's all I need to know. Lol jk, I like the dot too, the bigger dot makes me feel more comfortable with my aiming and such. Just my opinion though.

  • have you done a review on the newer eotechs nutn? can't seem to find them if you have ...

  • Eotech. Noticably larger field of view and better protected by the heavy duty outer cover. It appears to me to a far more rugged design is several important ways, for exsample the switches are less likely to be damaged.... Perhaps a finer dot could be an option, but the current may help you stay center of mass in most cases.

  • @InTheSticks0001 better protected?, heavy duty? ... Thats no Eotech. Aimpoint wins in the durability. Eotech has the the better field of view in some opinions. BUT eotechs are known to fail with hard use. Especially the one in this video. The 553 has bad battery connection. The glue that holds the springs for the battery will wear off an the batterys will fail to make a connection. Now if your only banging a 500-1000 rounds a year you may not notice it till that 2nd or 3rd year. T

  • nutn, i am planning to buy an eotech what battery lasts longer? AA's or CR123's

  • @bIGnmIZTEE2 i think AA's are definitely more accesible in the states, but i don't know about longevety

  • It would be a good idea if the you could press down on that aimpoint switch for night vision. So it would also be a button.

So you'd adjust the brightness by turning it, and then for NV you just press down on it.

Talk to them Nutn, tell 'em we want it that way. xD

  • hey man how are you suppose to use your b.u.s. with the aimpoint covering them up? just a question thought it was weird

  • wich one is better for a g36c

  • @420foefoe dont spend 500$ on an airsoft gun... dumbshit

  • I've been thinking about getting a EOTech 553 or and Aimpoint CompM4 for my 10.5" SBR. I had a TA31F on my 16" rifle for awhile, recently went to an Elcan SpecterDR. Yes, it's an expensive optic. That said, it's not a whole lot more than the ACOG RCO and a lot more capable. I do miss the chevron, though.

  • I love my EOTech XPS. I tried an Aimpoint CompM4s, but it was bigger, heavier, and did not have absolute co-witness with iron sights.

  • @coolgeekish

incorrect. Both optics will 1/3 witness with irons on proper mount.

  • @theblackkknight1 Not sure what irons or mounts you are running, but my XPS does have absolute co-witness with the factory mount and the M4S is 1/3 co-witness.

  • @coolgeekish

try a larue lt 110 qd

  • Hey guys can you tell me what is going on with my aimpoint it was working a few days ago and now the dial you spin is falling of and it wont turn on it is makeing me made

  • @macneil5401 What is going on with it? My expertise leads me to believe the dial you spin is probably falling off or it won't turn.

Seriously though, is it an original aimpoint or an airsoft toy copy?

  • this review sounds very bias

  • I like the aimpoint better. But the EOTECH is really good as well.

  • Used both in a class and decided on EOTECH over Aimpoint.

Hated the idea of looking through a "tube" with both eyes open on the Aimpoint.

Seen EOTECH lenses cracked/shot..full of mud, snow and crud - even missing parts of the glass element and they still function....

  • Well, All things considered I think i like the EOTECH one. If for no other reason than the field of view. It's the main point that stood out for me. Especially with the lens covers of the aimpoint flipped up. It's a lot in your way. Good job showing all the little features.

  • I just came back from the shooting range and a guy was using a EOtech, never used one but i loved it! The guy was using it for the range, just shooting paper. So my question is, for a 100 yard shooting at the range, would the EOtech or the Aimpoint be best? Or should i just get a 10-40 x50 scope?

  • Awesome video!! I just got my Aimpoint from 1 of my SF buddies for 200 Bucks, I LOVE it!

  • Thanks for producing this video. I found it quite useful. I have been debating between the two companies.

  • nutnfancy, why are you idealizing the aimpoint so much! you hardly say anything good about the eotech, compared to the good things about the aimpoint... example: "the aimpoint is tactical when it comes to the switch. its a physical witch that you can feel and hear, and not with the eotech... oh wait" >:( sounds like you are trying to make eotech sound bad.

  • @STKhero Im not saying its bad or less sight. But the Eotechs have lower battery life, heavier weight, and less durable.

  • @24Rorschach your dreaming if you think they are less durable.

  • @joeratti they are known to go down under stress. most high speed, hard training guys go aimpoint. Just look at the pros.. Chris Costa and Travis Haley (from magpul) both use the aimpoint micros all the time. Soo does Larry Vickers. Most Eotechs battery compartments fail. the glue that holds the spring for the batteries gets loose from the kick off the gun.THATS why the new eotechs batteries are horizontal instead of parallel with the rifle like the one in this video.

  • @joeratti They are by design, pure and simple. An eotech is an open, square shaped, single lense design. An Aimpoint is a cylindrical, 2 lense design with flip up covers. An aimpoint has a much higher rated water proofing rating and battery lives that can go up to 10years non stop. Im not talking shit about eotech, but aimpoint is just stronger by design. btw, you can buy flip up covers for eotechs but it makes them heavier by several ounces; aimpoints are lighter as well.

  • watch this youtube.com/watch?v=TSDz7CDABsM

  • i prefer eotech

  • I just love how the eotech has a 1 moa dot. it looks blurry up close, but when you aim the gun down range its in perfect focus. The #1 reason is the dot always stays on target. no need to get cheek weld or perfect sight picture, were the dot is pointed it were the gun is going to shoot.

  • @Imetalman2000 Yeah, but its the same way with the Aimpoint- both reticles are true to aim

  • I Own both and love both. I probably shoot better with my compm3, but I'll say for the same level of quality, the aimpoint is gonna cost your 150 or so more for a decent mount (unless its an m4). The eotechs built in mount saves you some cheddar

  • i just bought a comp m2 and love it

  • To be honest he's right both eotech and aimpoint create phenominal
