The violin finger tape joke comes from a long-standing argument: some teachers put tapes on beginner's fiddles; others vehemently oppose their use.

I have a dean wroth the only markings being side board inlay dots, you shouldn't assume it's fretted because it looks like one, shit jaco snatched his frets outs and confused the world cause noone wanted to ask. Nice vid, love the tone

@nailay7 it's commonly called chicken plucker stringing, the guy from the tonight show plays like that and so does alvin mills, and Sir Paul McCartney. it's just because left handed basses are a hell of a lot more expensive so they just learn with a right handed bass flipped over without re-stringing it because getting your nut changed costs a bit of money, they just didn't bother getting it done, resulting in a whole new bass playing/listening experience .

A lot of lefty bass players DO flip a right handed bass upside down, BUT I don't see many of them do this without restringing. Reversing the strings also effectively reverses all the chord shapes, so from a muscle memory standpoint, even the most accomplished right handed bass player would pick up Jeff's axe and not be able to do anywhere near what he does with it.
