  • Tumbling is only extra points

  • Wow those girls could be on our varsity team. I'm trying for sophomore cheer and I can only do a front handspring. But everyone I talked to says its fine.

  • Um we dont HAVE to have a back hand spring and we have former cheerleaders help us. And I started working this week and it's 2 weeks from today, I'm so nervous!!

  • I'm glad our school isn't as strict as YOU !!!

  • sigh..

I haven't been training for months?

I've been training all day for 3 weeks

IS THAT ENOUGH? ( please leave a reply )

  • I do cheerleading all ready

  • Ohhh my god I have two months to get myself together! I used to be a bit flexible but I stopped stretching. Now im at it again and I've really got to get my game on! I stretch an hour a day and I think it's helping. If anyone else has suggestions for doing stunts and stuff, lemme know!

  • Do you look great?

    Me: ...no

  • We will see in 5 months if this advice was helpful......hope so

  • A year! I have two days!

  • @FootballLoverBessx

Its ohkay... just remeber to smile, the whole time. and maybe even throw in a few cute facial expressions! rememer to be stiff and have sharp movements... You should make it!

  • Comment removed

  • or you could go on a community team :3

  • Yeah I dance at CSDC and we do gymnastics every week i know how to do a back bend standing up and the basics and tryouts are in 1 week anything else you think i should do? I cant go to CSDC because we are on break so anything without a spotter. Thanks =D

  • @DANCErin1370

I'm 118 pounds not only am I already in level 2 tumble I'm working on back-handsprings. Im a backspot and a base so you should do whatever's is most comfortable. All my coaches say tall girls tumbling looks beautiful if u know what ur doing so keep working at it ;)

  • You definitely don't need a year to prepare! I had never cheered before, and decided to try out. I made the team and I'm good at it to! Smile, stay sharp, and try your best!!!:) Also, the tumbling isn't a big deal. I did a cartwheel at tryouts and they thought it was wonderful.(: try your best!

  • very helpful

  • YEAR?....I have like 2 weeks

  • @xoxokisskiss34 my friend tried out for cheerleadin and she made it but she only had 3 day not 1 or 2 years not even a whole week so it rlly dont matter how many yearsd of expires you have just saying

  • @xoxokisskiss34

I suggest going to some open gyms(: DO NOT ATTEMPT TUMBLING WITHOUT A SPOTTER(:

  • em actually you do need to be able to do a standing backhandspring to at least make jv. Unless you are a freshman in which you can make the freshman team and you don't need that skill. As for varsity you do need to know how to do a full. That's just my school tho. If tumbling isn't your thing you can always do poms which is mostly flexibility, no stunts or tumbling, but not many schools have poms.

  • i can do a backhandspring with spots, but my wrists and ankles give out so easily. and my jumps are not very high... but im good at everything else. what can i do to work on the rest?

  • Lady: Can u do a standing backhandspring? Can u do a round off backhandspring?

Me: No. Darn I bet I won't make it. D=

Lady: Do you have a great smile?

    Me: Yes! =D

Lady: Do you have a great voice?

    Me:Yes! =D

    Lady: Do you look great?

    Me: Yes! =D

    Lady: Can you memorize cheers?

Me: Yes! YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!! Wait... I have a friend down the street that is a cheerleader that can teach me cheers... I don't need you lady. BYE-BYE. =D

  • Ya, in my squad all the coach had us do was memorize a cheer, preform it, and that's all. Most ppl on ur team will be able to do cartwheels and tumbles. U don't have to be one of them :)

  • Guys these tips are realistic! I started about a year before tryouts and it's been half a year and I hav high jumps and almost a back handspring so she's giving good advice!

  • Omg don't stress my friend did and she ended up not making which made me sad because we wereboth supposed to make it

  • year? Lady i have a day!

  • i am going to try out. and i have been practicing but not at a gym.. at my house. going to a gym is like $100 a visit.

  • Oh, it's one false thing about what you said, lady .. uh you said that " You have to know how to do backflips etc... you really don't because they'll teach you.

And it doesn't take a year to practice for tryout's it's about 4 false, tips

  • Great video. I'm a new cheerleader. My whole team wears hair diamonds. You have to love them and they are only $3.99 at buyhairdiamonds(.)com without the parenthesis!

  • this is a good video to watch for whom ever wants to try out for cheerleading and never has before

  • this is the stupidest hing i have ever heard LISTEN PEOPLE you dont need training to make the team. They will teach you everything and help you with everything. school cheerleading is not that competive and most schools dont require tumbling. This lady is a bitch dont listen. Try your best and be cheery:)

    good luck xoxoxo

  • Well thanks for the tips that dont really help when you live out in the country and cant get to a gym.

what i was looking for is maybe HOW TO DO THIS STUFF.

  • Umm I'm sorry but forcshoes I have plain $20 white shoes that work. My school Is small sowe basically don't even have tryouts I am good at jumping and can back base and ocasuonlly fly. My tryouts are like any day so you don't need a year in prep

  • Ok here were I live tumbling is not a must! To keep rhythm and beat is a must. Here you have to do facials you have to remember the cheers an dances I went to one tryout and made so many mistakes...I did NOT make it. I have been working so hard for basketball cheer i just do not think all of this true...But some really great tips. ThanksXD

  • Start a year in advance? Hell no. Cheerleading tryouts are tomorrow and I haven't practiced one bit. XD And I can't even do a handstand... you expect me to learn how to do a standing backhandspring? NO.

  • cheer shoes: well.. if you havent cheered before why would you own them??

loose clothes: you wanna get strangled by your stunt group?? sure...

    padded floor: not recessarily....

a top that covers torso: nope.... most of the time we wear sports bras to practice and alot of uniforms are half tops. fail.

inbox me if you want some better tryout tips :) xxo

  • AND WHEN SHOULD U EVER WEAR LOOSE SHIRTS?! THEIR JUST GOING TO GET IN THE WAY WHEN U DO TUMBLING THATS WHY CHER UNIFORMS ARE TIGHT! GEEZ DONT LISTEN TO ANY OF THE "ADVICE" FROM THIS VIDEO!

  • UGH! OK UMM THIS VIDEO IS A PIECE OF SHIT TO ALL YOU GIRLS WANTING TO DO CHEERLEADING! UMM NO YOU DONT HAVE TO BE ABLE TO DO A BACK HAND SPRING BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO TEACH U HOW TO DO ONE! IF THEY DIDNT THAT WOULD BE BAD COACHING!

  • it helped me alot

  • the girls cheer smile looked fake....

  • at 1:21 girl in the back lol

  • do we have to know how to stunt at tryouts?

  • @HelloKittyBieberLuhv for high school cheerleading you do

  • lady: can u do a standing backhandspring

can u do a round off backhandspring

    me: HELL NO

  • i'm in 6th grade just now i have a yera to learn how to do a back hand spring and i have to cuz i know 11 other girls who are already that are rlly good oh shit. got any advice? to help me to be more flexible

  • @xcrazy88 STRETCH EVERYDAY WHEN YOU WAKE UP cause it helps you be more felxible ( touch your toes , stretch your legs , etc ) hope i helped !

  • @SamaaMamaa alright :) thanks so much!

  • @xcrazy88 no problem :D

  • I'm a competitive cheerleader and this doesn't help what so ever. I have been cheer for seven years, and if you go out and try your hardest and be the best, you will most likely make a high level team. Nothing to worry about!

  • 0:33 Oh gawd Its giving me Nightmares!

  • a year? i got 3 weeks lol

  • that girl is wearing earings! yet she's worring everything else

  • she just freaked me out and im trying out for cheerleading in 3 months and i dont know how to do back flips or flips at all :( HELP!

  • @daisyawesome97 dont worry. thats not always what you have to do get ur info 4 wut u have 2 do and practice practice practice!!!

  • Whaats the name of the cheerleading thing again , ? casue i live in san antonio annd i wannna sign up , ! but i cant find your gym , ! D;

  • Dont get me wrong, i love all of her videos, most of them are helpful.. But this video did nothing but freak me out. I only trained for a month and i made the cheer team. I dont know what shes talking about preparing for a year..

  • im going to try out next year:)

  • I just tried out for cheerleading and I made it.I'm like so happy :D Lucky I knew how to flip :DD

  • didnt help.....

  • Notice girl with broken arm at 3:03

  • Notice girl with broken arm at 3:03

  • these ARE NOT GOOD haha JK i dont really know ................. i wanna try out for cheerleading next year any tips anyone commet on my channel and subscribe :)

  • thanks im 11 i have been cheering since i was 5 thanks

  • If you want to learn how to do a backflip and work your way towards getting as good as these girls check out my backflip tutorial over on my channel that breaks it down into 3 simple progressive steps.

  • UMM im was in gymastics andd i am tryout at the end of the yea.r and im in tumbling.

  • all I have done is learn a bit of her cheers and jumps I can't toe touch maybe a low high kick lol but I can do a herkie. I'm learning how to do the splits too. I am a little chubby, but I need to do this. I hav 2

  • 0:42 the girls hair in the back round is SOOOO long :) i want hair like that :)

  • @twinkle16ify omg i was looking at that too i want it like that too hhaahahah

  • in my skool u dnt be judge by ur tumbling cuz im in middle scook they ask if u know how 2 do it !

  • I didnt have a years practice, more like a little work here and there and MAJOR stretching just 3 months before tryouts! I made it! Dont give up. Thats what I kept telling myself, I cried before tryouts! I was shaking all over. I still made it and still plan to improve :D

  • for our cheer tryouts all u do is show what tumbles u can do and then a dance they make up for you

  • I had no preperation whatsoever when I started at my allstar gym. And Rosalyn I walked in with less than a weeks conditioning and made a team. I don't know what you ever learned but at allstar gym they teach you the material and they work with what you can do. So don't give me that crap :)

  • i don't like how she said "if you look good" im over weight so i know i won't make it

  • @Llamalover38 ya never know :)

  • This is tupid ! really. ii mean ii think cheerleadinq is easy (:

  • i love ur videos they really help out A LOT

  • I don't do cheelreading, I do dancing, I hope to do cheerleading but it is a sport and of course people get injured.

  • Is all this necessary if my school's cheerleading squad isnt competitive? All they do is cheer at games, and I know they do stunts, but do i need tumbling experience to try out?

  • their shirts are sooooo cute!!!!

  • Umm wow this is stupid, you should not have to get ready to tryout for a year..stupid lady.

  • @AllyAndAzsae Depends if your going for a side line or a competitive

  • Yeah I haven't cheered for about a year and a half now and I might tryout again when try-outs come around. I already have ankle weights but i can tell I really need to improve my jumps again and stretch. I don't do any tumbling. I can only do a backbend and i can't quite get the back walkover. But if anyone has any tips PLEASE let me know!:) Thank you!

  • Hey Im trying out for the cheerleading team this year and I havent cheered in about 2 years and I really need to work on my toe touches and herkise if any of you have any tips to help me get higher and spread my legs more it would really help. Thanks!

    Yours Truely Purplepandas03

  • @purplepandas03 Ok, these r things you should do to make your touch toe higher: look straight ahead and put your arms straight into a T, not down. you don't want to bring your hands to your toes, bring your toes to your hands. And dont forget to point your toes and stay supr tight. For herkies, stretch out your split and don't try to kick up if youre not that flexible, because i have a friend that does that, and her knees bend(bad). Kick straight out, and it will look fine

    Good luck :D

  • thats sad

  • do you have any tricks for loose weight plz i know isin't the subject so...

  • hello.! :Di love your vids:D but can u make videos like : how to do split how to be flexibility how to do a cartweel how to do a backwalkover etc.. plz love u all

  • WHAT IF YOU DONT HAVE A LOCAL GYMNASTIC SCHOOL , I would do gymnastics But Atm,its TOOO Expensive so thats why im doing cheerleading ( THIS IS BRINGING ME DOWN) this helpz, then idont ! lady your bringing people down ..

  • I have a question , If you cant do a backflip, will they help you do it ? Im flexible i did a backflip once on meh bed lol ,and fell off ...and Like this is kinda bringing me down , saying you have to wait a yeear for you 2 try out im like , not right..! but are they gonna help you 2 do a backflip

  • i want to join cheerleading so bad i am very flexible

  • you have to have an amazing amout of trust im a flyer and hitting the ground from 13 feet doesnt feel good at all aspecially landing on your back

  • i remeber in the 6th grade trying out for school tryouts and even the really sucky girls got in! you dont need a year to train sheesh

  • A YEAR TO GET READY FOR TRYOUTS!!!

  • At my gym we make sure everyone makes a team. and we teach you what you need to know to be a great cheerleader. we take our craft very seriously and thats why we do (not being cocky) very well. Cheerleading is sport and Yeah so thats all i have to say

  • In southern Cali, where I'm from. To cheerlead you need to know how to

    1. Step

    2. Lift a 90 pound girl

That it. We don't take cheerleading that serious here.

  • I ♥ cheerleading !

  • I want to join cheer next year In middle school, I year away! But, Im not really flexible... The only things I can do on surface is the bridge, and rolling.. Im not sure if I can still do a hand stand . I use to do one and walk on my hands. I do 2 tumbling things on the tramplene though. Am i able to still try out?

  • @DallasLuuDallas well it is important to be flexable u will need the flexibility for your jumps they are important for cheerleading and also as she said confidence you can't be scared to do some jumps or to tryout you have to beleive in your self because i know for sure that anyone can do it. but since you don't have experiance you should take some classes and if you can't then i would try stretching everyday to boost my flexibilty and don't try anything dangerous by yourself have sum1 help u.

  • @sweetdreaming4u Thanks! That's what I'm doing now, Im stretching everyday. I've been going on the tramplene to do the toe touches and herkies (if i spelt it right :P) But, I dont ahve the ankle weights or the stretchy thing :P i've also been doing the bridge, and these others moves , I forgot what they're called. I also jump rope everyday and do sit ups.

  • Comment removed

  • @sweetdreaming4u With the flips, I just dont know exactly how to do them so I dont want to hurt my self. But i have trust with others.

  • @DallasLuuDallas well, you're gonna need to stretch, last year i couldn't even touch my toes, now i can do a split, so just stretch daily & practice.

  • @TheLindsey545 Thanks. Im stretching everyday and exercising. what do you practice?

  • @DallasLuuDallas ummm well, right now im parcticing on my back walkover, sadley, i cant do it, just a backbend :| i also do my regular stretching, splits, & other flexibility stuff i dont know the name of (: lots of different stuff (:

  • I want to join cheer in middle school, which is 1 year away. I was never in gymnastics, and im not that flexible. I have a loud voice i love to cheer for ppl :P I cant do the splits though and I dont know if I can do a cart wheel of a flip... I kinda like tumble on the tramplene I guess. But i cant do it on the surface too scared... x]

  • Great Tip I'm Getting To Be In 5th Grade I'm Going To Be a Cheerleader In Middle School!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I LOVE TO CHEER!!

  • I wish I had better cheerleader squad ..

  • Cheer tryouts are easy! Ecspecially for me because I've never done cheer AND IM NOT THAT FLEXiBLE! I can't do the splits and I can't do any backhandsprings or flips literally for the tumbling part of the tryout I just did a forwardeoll

  • Prepare a year in advance?

    Hahah yeah right!

I decided 2 try out 4 cheer lyk 2hrs before the try out nd still made the team!!!!!! ;D

  • I can do a cartwheel, roundoff, backwalkover, and I have decent flexibility and balance and a loud voice and tryouts are in a year for middle school and my schools team is really good and I mite even have to know a backflip to get in

  • Can You Be a Cheerleader if you havent even cheered But you do Gymnastics?

  • @pinkcandy669 yes most of the gymnastics helps with tumbling a lot hope this helped

  • @pinkcandy669 you can if you really try but theres alot more to cheering than gymnastics. gymnasitcs will help, with flexibiltity and strength and stuff but sharpness and remembering cheer and dance routines will come on its own. :) good luck tho

    - Competitive cheerleader and gymnast since i was 6 and now 13 :)

  • @pinkcandy669 Yesss, you can

  • train for a year in advanced...unless you're going out for cheer at my school...then 1 week should be enough time

  • a yearr?!?! BULL i made an all star cheer team on the first year :I

  • thank u for preping us up

  • lol I walked into my cheer tryouts with only 2 months of tumbling and I made it...the "being prepared for a year ahead" thing is ridiculous!

  • thanks guys this will help me out alot:)

  • Hey all of u that r saying cheer try-outs aren't hard well u r right like I tried out for 7th grade cheer squad and I messed up my cheer and I was laughing then I smiled and asked if I could do it again and that year I was a cheerleader but the thing that sucks is the cheer work outs but cheering is my life!!!

  • i have been cheering (practicing) since i was 4 and actually cheering since i was 7

  • Here are my tips..... Hope you like them! :)

    1) Always smile!!! :)

    2) Always be on time to meetings, practice, and/or clinics (p.s turn in paperwork too)

    3) Commit to what you are doing... If you do make it and later on you are absent all the time or don't show up to pep rallies or sporting events or practices... You will get kicked off and someone who tried out but didn't make it should've made it instead of you...

    4) Be prepared. Bring whatever they ask you to bring and speak w/ parents befor

  • @pinkzebracorn

Cheerleading try outs are not hard at all I'm going to be a freshman this year and I had VARSITY tryouts and I made the squad eventhough I have NEVER done cheer before!!! My sister is in cheer so in only 2 months she taught me how to do a backhandspring and that's how I made it... You just have to be confident and be really loud!!!

  • Cheerleading Tryouts aren't as scary as everyone says they are trust I just went throught one and i........Made The Squad! with no cheer expierence! the judges were my favorite teachers. I stayed postive the entire time I was waiting for the results and i made it. If any of y'all don't make it then DON'T GIVE UP! And ignorre those people who say cheer isn't aa sport cuz yeah it is. need any cheer advice? comment in 1 of my vids i can help you with anything cheer!:)

  • This will be my first time trying out for cheerleading I I'm so nervous

  • @doligirlx3 DONT BE! its nerve racking waiting for the result. just make sure u have stiff movements, yell chants loud and clear, and start out with beginning tumbling skills, remember why your trying out it will motivate you to try your best. if you dont make it try again next year, clear your head of all negative thoughts and feelings. it will throw off your game and breath with the beats so your not breathing im between words or stunts or tumbles.

  • @doligirlx3 Have you tried out yet? :)

  • I have the summer to get ready , im trying out anyway

  • @heeheeproductions2 me too,but i am very flexable and SSOOO NERVOUS!!

  • 0thanks in my skool next year im in 6th n i can only tryout at d end of 7th thanks

  • i luv beenin a cheerleading captin..... been 4 3 yrs

  • Thanks Rosalyn but I just found out yesterday that I made an allstar team and I literally didn't have to prepare. This was first year by the way. So the prep in a year thing, yeah that's not always the case..

  • Why'd she emphasize look great if a lot of them are fat

  • we might move to america, and im in middle school and NOT FLEXIBLE (i did ballet 4 8 years) and if we move i will go in to gymnastics and be dtermined to be a cheerleader

  • Thanks this really helped.!:D let you know when i get in though

  • Haha my school has like, six cheerleaders and the only things we do are ACTUAL cheering. No stunts, no flips, nothing. And so little people try out that basically EVERYONE gets on the squad :D

  • Well I decided to "try" cheerleading and I hope that it turns out ok I have tryouts in like 2 weeks

  • uhmm, how are you supposed to prepare a year in advance if you don't know when tryouts are ? or what if you just watched this video & found out tryouts are in a few weeks ?

  • @hotthott21 if you're in middle school you can always ask & talk to coach

if you're in high school - Tryouts are usually near the end of the school year (SPRING!!:May/June). Whoever makes the team will have to prep up during the summer for the next school year (Fall/Winter season sport) :) hope that that sort of helps

  • yea of course people have injurys it's cheerleading if your not a cheerleader then you don't understand. its one of the most dangerous sports people are flying in the air and being caught.

  • @sa5mi3cheerbug ya your totally right because a couple months ago i did a cart weel into the splits and i broke my pelvis

  • @sa5mi3cheerbug i agree. cheer is so physically demanding. i love it, but its so difficult. people dont understand

  • @sa5mi3cheerbug :u dont hav 2 b a cheerleader 2 realize dat u can break yo neck if u get basket tossed and hit da ground!*!

  • my coach broke her hip, arm and busted her lip

  • i loved this video.. she inspired me to tryout and give this my all (:

  • i have tryouts in a week.. and I'm pretty average at skills. I hope i do good!!

  • i cant do any flips or cart wheels only splits and head stands i do ballet and dancehall dancing i have a loud voice and a big great smile i hope i can practice my flips and make the cheer squad :)
