how does one learn to play this? :/ incredible. I always thought Steve Morse is simply the only one who can play this piece, so I never actually tried to learn it...
melhore o video, mas quero ver tocar isso de pé!!!hey man tire esse traseiro da cadeira pô, e esse som de radinho de pilha?toque com um cubo sem multiefeitos, ai sim voce pode ter isso valorizado.
im gonna try and learn this since i got the new steve morse guitar. is it hard to learn at first if you are pretty good at picking and an advance player?
first of all You BLOW me away playing this piece. I say that so you know i'm not critisizing but wonder have you studied the way Morse holds his pick. Over the past couple of years I have gone from a VMoore grip to Steve's grip.I think you would find it interesting. 1st lesson at Sterson "90% of playing is visual" Looking at your RH tension makes you look at your limit. Steve is relaxed and looks like he could take it up a notch. AGAIN, you rock this piece!!!!!!!!!
Awesome playing loved it! but had to laugh at 1:53 to 2:04 you completely faked it through that section. But I guess thats why your not Steve Morse. Thanks for the inspiration to play this.
im just now learning how to play this song. i wish i had the actuall music, i have to pic it out myself cause i dont trust tabs off the internet on something of this caliber
Thanks for all the comments guys! I haven't posted a comment in over a year or so because I now have a 15 month old son and I am engaged as well so needless to say my life has changed a lot. haha
@clicheeurosk8er Don't let it stop your playing. Love it, I have a 10 yo and a 9 yo and I try to keep playing as much as my Adult A.D.D will let me lol.
@clicheeurosk8er Don't let it stop your playing. Love it, I have a 10 yo and a 9 yo and I try to keep playing as much as my Adult A.D.D will let me lol. I hope I'll have the time to figure out 1:11 on the bass some time.
well done...I've worked on that riff forever and can play it that cleanly...and I mean FOREVER...I only use it for practice...would never attempt to post like this..
For once someone who actually have the skills to nearly emulate the artist theyre attempting! I give it to you man! You made fools out of all the other guys here :D Are you audiodidact? I am, but im not as keen as you though...
damn i really thought i was a good guitar player killin pantera metallica gnr and other metal bands...then i watched this and as i am!! this just inspired me to work harder thanks man!
Ok dude, this is fucking awesome. I just realised that I forgot the existence of this song. Though, you play not only the notes but the intensity is right on. Masterize something is something you and M@tt with is playin of 'La Foule' just understand perfectly.
You have the fingering and the picking down but you are missing Steve's most underrated technique. He vibratos the shit out of any string anytime he holds a note, no matter how short of time it is. Plus he does it with every finger where most "guitarists" sem to be able to do it with their ring finger. That was the best I have heard from anyone trying to play Tumeni Notes. I can't tell from the vid, how old you are. Keep up the good work, and remember to vibrato.
hey man, could you mind sharing your tune settings for your amp? and btw do you mute the strings for the intro? and how much distortion do u use for the intro and the rest of the song? im really keen to learn this song. btw very good attempt, 5 stars!
Heyyy Jarrod! What's happening man?! Hope everything is going well with you. I'm gonna def do a vid of Jon Finn's hoedown sometime soon. I also have "tri county barn dance, Point counterpoint, desert rose, manhattan, road expense finished. I just have to upload them. Check out my other vids of Morse stuff dude! Hope you the best with everything:)
So we should judge whether a musician is accomplished or not by whether they're a houshold name? That's the difference between success and excellence, social acceptance. Kelly Osbourne and Paris Hilton are houshold names. Morse is prolific as a compsoser and band leader! Anyway... Great playing! You should do a video of Hoedown!!!
I think that it's a little ridiculous to say that Morse is more accomplished than Blackmore... in the 70's Blackmore was a household name, whereas Morse has never been as popular as say Steve Vai or Yngwie. But never the less, Morse is a god and I do agree in that.

Don't get me wrong though I do love Ritchie. I guess when I said his playing is sloppy and emotionless I meant that in some of the live performances I've seen of him. But he's great man! I have nothing against him.
I've been playing for 8 years give or take. I'm a performance major at the Berklee College Of Music so I hope to one day be a professional guitar player:) I've been playing this song for a while actually. It's always a challenge to perform. That's for sure. Thanks for all the comments you guys!
Great job man!!awesome playing! How long have you been practticing to play THIS song??And for how long have you been playing the guitar??Are a you a professional guitar player or play just as a hobby??Thanks!!
All in the wrist my friend:) The reasoning behind his way of playing(using his thumb and two fingers to hold the pick) is because he's actually left-handed. He also finds it easier to jump across strings easier. NEVER use your elbow man. If anything you'll be more prone to injury if you use your elbow. Morse has had very mild issues with CTS and the reason for that is because he has been playing for 40 something years now and still plays at least 3 hours every day. Hope that helps bud!
@clicheeurosk8er Actually, Steve fashioned his unique picking technique early on but it has nothing to do with the fact that he's left-hand dominant. You are correct in saying it provides him greater mobility, but it also allows him to mute the strings easily at the same time, giving him greater control over damping the strings, especially at high volumes. Steve astonishingly elected to use his dominant left hand on the fretboard when he first started playing. Amazing...
And forgot to ask, but I can't tell exactly which you're doing.. Is it better to pick the song using wrist or elbow? I'm used to using wrist for everything, but considering considering Morse's recent problems with CTS, I'm not sure if that's the best way to play it. Help plx?!
Vinnie's good, but "Tumeni Notes" is one of the most difficult songs ever played on an electric guitar. Awesome job, I'm working on the song myself, I can only get the intro though, the part after that is just too ridiculous =0 Good job on the perfect cover and having the guitar I wish I had! 5/5
Thx for all the comments guys! I absolutely love the Vinman. As far as being as hard as this song NO WAY. haha. I remember playing the thinking machine. It's a tough one for sure but the main melody, being ALL alternate picking through arpeggios as well as the clean part and the bridge section of the tune. No comparison as far as what's more difficult. I'd love to see some videos from you man.
