As I do respect your opinion about Bruce, I stand firm by what I said and believe that Bruce Springstein's music is about as interesting as what his lyrics actually mean according to you. This is the first Bruce Springsteen song I can remember hearing (and knowing who it was). I loved it instantly. And soon the whole Darkness album. A week later, I discovered, Born to Run, the album.  I played these two albms for three solid months before seeing him live, which sealed the deal - lifelong fan.

Growing up as a kid trapped in the drab suburbs of Australia was obviously a different universe to that of New Jersey, but the yearning was the same -to break the shackles, to grow, to change, to learn, to fly.
