Getting ready to see him for the 15th time on April 3rd in Jersey. If you don't like his music why are you on here? "It ain't no sin to be glad you're alive"
@lkorn9150 Yeah man your right, He should change the meaning of his lyrics too, from what its like growing up and being a hard working man who gets confused in life from time to time to lyrics about being a young overprivileged douche who goes out to the bars every night looking for whatever monstrocity will take him home. Then maybe you would understand what he is talkin about. While he is at it, he should stop signing and just use autotune as well.
@jeremymac51329 I see what you're doing here, Jeremy. As I do respect your opinion about Bruce, I stand firm by what I said and believe that Bruce Springstein's music is about as interesting as what his lyrics actually mean according to you. Personally, being an overprivileged douche who goes to bars and finds a bunch of women to sleep with every night sounds exciting. Dually noting that Bruce Springstein is a rock star and probably had that lifestyle for a while. But you're right, my mistake.
@cryanconway Nope. To me, this song is better stripped down. It's not a 'happy' song and a sax adds the wrong tonal element to the song. A sax just doesn't work here
Nice to read the lyrics to this song. Sometimes his words get overlooked because of the passion and energy in these songs. 'Rich men want to be king'....(Romney). Say NO to the evil corporate candidate.
@QueenReigns1 "wo" isn't even a word... "whoa" is the correct spelling. And what's wrong with him listing it 4 times if it's in the song 4 times in a row? He's just copying lyrics so people know what they are. Also (no offense) why would you find a version of a song with lyrics just so you can see if they made a mistake and then proceed to make fun of them? Honestly...
@1:40 my W. Hist. Geo teacher used the lyric for learning about feudalism. Poor men (Pesants) wanna be rich (Vassals/Knights/Lords) and they wanna be king. and the king isn't satisfied.
That is a GREAT song! I saw nothing wrong in the spelling of the lyrics as you posted. What makes the know-it-all who criticized that the expert anyway? To get all wrapped around the axle about such an irrelevant thing...disTURBED! I would agree that there are way nicer pics of Bruce Springsteen . But thanks for the post all the same
"@depressed321 He does not put spaces between his sentances, its really easy to write crap." And you consider yourself to be an expert on grammar that allows you to impugn others for their mistakes in usage? Hmmm. Interesting.
This is the first Bruce Springsteen song I can remember hearing (and knowing who it was). I loved it instantly. And soon the whole Darkness album. A week later, I discovered, Born to Run, the album. I played these two albms for three solid months before seeing him live, which sealed the deal - lifelong fan.
(Of course I heard the first two, but didn't appreciate them until later.)
Poor man wanna be rich and a rich man wanna be king-A king ain't satisfied till he rules everything--This is a pure GENIUS!!! BRUCEEE IS AN AWESOME MUSICAL LEGEND MILES AHEAD OF HIS TIME.
Wanna find one face that ain't lookin' thru me, wanna find one place, wanna SPIT IN THE FACE OF THESE.......BADLANDS!! Some of the greatest lyrics ever written in music history have been written by this man. Feel this sh.. clear down into your bones!
@Pandapwnegee Maybe he doesn't put periods between his sentences, but he probably at least knows the difference between a space and a period, knows when to use a semicolon instead of a comma, knows how to put an apostrophe in it's, and can spell "sentences" correctly. Go take your illiterate trolling somewhere else.
@tkeradar Sir, I apologize. He does not put spaces between his sentences; it's really easy to write. I am of the opinion that it is undesirable music.* Furthermore, tkeradar, you are what is known as a Grammar Nazi: A special type of troll that attempts to invalidate peoples posts due to simple typing errors.
I like the lyrics but the 1950s sounding music (sax playing, etc) never grabbed hold of me. I think the same lyrics sung with music in a more hard rock way would make it more appealing to me.
@SupernautG Maybe some band will do a cover in the style you want... I like Clarence "the big man" Clemons playin sax. All of Bruce's music has a lot of piano and sax... just open your mind and listen to it.
@coldfarted I can tell there is talent there it's just that I am geared towards a different type of music beat. Bruce's lyrics are of course top notch poetry.
Growing up as a kid trapped in the drab suburbs of Australia was obviously a different universe to that of New Jersey, but the yearning was the same -to break the shackles, to grow, to change, to learn, to fly. Bruce spoke across oceans to me. Thank-you for posting this, it's been so long since I heard it...and it still makes me want to fly.
The book "Things Change" Brought me here! Not a bad song (:
