  • beautiful painting :-)

  • I love the painting just make sure you cover the whole sunset

  • Very nice picture :)

  • Brilliant stuff :) And as for critics they can all F@@K OFF , i bet not one critic can draw or paint only give their veiws as to how they want us to draw or paint. Painting , drawing is/should be ones own personal style not what the "critics" think is in style at that specific time. Keep up your good work :))))

  • amazing! i wish i had the ability to paint like that. unfortunately i cant paint to save myself if my life depended upon it....though i am good with pencil drawings lol

  • I loved your painting. I paint for the enjoyment and I am learning to banish the critic. I wonder why there are so many unhappy people out there. Maybe if they spent some time working on painting themselves they wouldn't feel the need to spend time judging others and spreading their negativity. Keep painting and thanks for sharing. You inspire others to paint.

  • Gary I think your paintings are wonderful.

  • Gary I think your paintings are wonderful. This one makes me wish I lived on that country road.

@2000texas13 and comentariopesado1, you are both asses or should I say you are both puta madre's, hahaha. I'd like to see your paintings.

  • PUTA MADRE ?? wtf is this music O.o

  • Your song is hystericle, it sounds nice and peacefully but the guy singing says puta madre with means mother fucker. Just thought I'd let you know..

  • I dont know how some of these people accomplished what you did when they were six, because this is absolutley beautiful! Great work!

  • Beautiful painting! I wish you had shown the area of inspiration that you were painting from. . . . so sad that it is now gone, but wonderful that you have captured it for all to enjoy! Thank you for being such an inspiration!!

  • To: 2000texas14 or comentariopesado... thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. :-)

  • Thanks for watching and your expertise. This painting has won several awards. Also, I visited your page and noted that to date, you have not ventured to upload your own art work, so I must take your art comments lightly. Many who feel they cannot do are critical of those who can and and are willing to risk it. May God bless you and again, thank you for watching :-) H A P P Y N E W Y E A R!

  • Love the trees and shading again.. practice practice, for me I mean. Your very great to watch, thanks

  • Just wow.... that's all I can say.

  • Hello. Thank you for sharing your process. How great that you captured it before "civilization" moved in. I am an acrylic painter and I am getting ready to move to natural landscape. Can you tell me if you struggle with acrylics plein air? Do you use open paints or retarder? I appreciate your reply. Thank you.

  • Wish i could paint...

  • I am always impressed with talent like this. How did you learn to paint like this?

  • Hearing that they turned that place into apartments and condominiums now, REALLY makes me angry!

Anyway lovely painting i think I might just give it a go!

  • mute it!

  • love watching u paint, beautiful, but what is the song playing,it,s not john denver, but i do love this song who is it please?

  • @bellyqueen

    Destination Non-Specific - Colin Mutchler 1998

    :)

  • beautiful video ....... great work ...... I am in love with your paintings ;)

  • do you wait for the paint to dry up? or just continue painting on it even if its not dry..?

  • @Kyasuriin666 - U usually let a section become more dry while working on a different area of the painting. Acrylic works differently when it's almost dry, it can come off the canvas, smear or add color to a glaze. You can also use a wadded-up paper towel to achieve a quick random under texture while it's drying, then glaze paint over it. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching

  • @Kyasuriin666 I keep going as with plein air (painting on site) the light is ALWAYS moving... in about an hour, the light is totally different

  • @GaryGarrett Thanks

  • Beautiful, very well done. I'd really like to learn basics to painting with acrylics.

  • how much was it sold for?

  • AHHH! i wish i could paint..... this is the condemned wanna be painter again ......

  • @WishGirl198

All good painters have two things in common-- they wish they can paint and practice a lot. You already have one of the qualities!

  • alles trickohach

  • de puta madre!??? hahahahah horrible song.

  • What medium do you use to do this wet on wet with Acrylic?

  • that is AMAZING

  • Truly wonderful! I love painting more then anything, i'm still only 16 and I try to get better at painting. I get some really great tip's from your video's how I can get better. Onse again wonderful painting!

  • I think its a beautiful painting. i paint too and im only 21 but paintermasters say that maybe im the next monet, i dont think so but egal. i would have mixed a lil red to the blue and paint the top of the sky a lil bit darker so it could have deepness. but its a fantastic painting keep up the good work.

  • tHANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENT... IT'S GOOD TO START EARLY IN PAINTING. THANKS FOR WATCHING

  • That is a beautiful painting. It's a shame that the area has been developed now but at least to got to paint it before.

  • You are an amazing painter, from watching your videos I'm learning alot on how to paint more with acrylic paints. They are the only thing I will paint with anything else I won't touch or paint with no interest in it. But my question is With a palette Do you layer it on the canvas as soon as there is a back ground like the sky?

  • amazinggggggggggggg!

  • muy bueno! excelente!

  • Thanks for sharing this. It's good on many different levels - not just painting.

BTW: I think I like this music track better than Denver's. I've never heard it before. Who is it?

  • kreten

  • wonderful!! and i saw it with john's music ;) beautiful!

  • wow, i was truly speachless when i saw the final product. you are an amazing artist, and while i have my own technique, and you yours, i hope to one day be as good as you. thank you so much for sharing this wonderful peice with the world, and please continue to make video's of your beautiful works of art.

  • Thank you. That's one of the GREAT things about art is that everyone sees things differently. So it is TRULY self expression. Thank you for the nice comment and thanks foir watching.

  • this is an off the topic question but first i like to say wow your an amazing artist. i am young painter too but my little brother steals my paintings and dissans all the time to pick up women and say they are his own. Do you get a lot of female fans and numbers, heh?

  • Thanks for the compliment. I've been married for 37 years, so I don't use my paintings to pick up women. I do occassionally give a painting to folks (men and women) whose innerspirit tells me they are truly a nice person.

    Thanks for watching

  • whats the difference between acrylics and oils? i use oils....

  • Good question! Each have their own strengths: Oils have a deeper color resonance, slower to dry, therefore, more workable to mold into your final painting. Acrylics are a close match to the textures and color depth of oil. you MUST work fast as they dry FAST. I keep mine wet longer with a misting spay bottle of water. One nice advantage is that an acrylic plein air painting is dry before you leave the site. As in oils, buy professional quality paint as they have more pigment making life easier.

  • This is beautiful. Very inspirational. Thank you so much for sharing!

  • fucking good my respectfully daje plusa+

  • Hey I got 2 Questions :D

    1. How long did that take?

2.I just started acrylics so can you

give me some helpful tips? =]]

  • Hi.... 2 hours & 4 minutes.

I wet my canvas (or panel) to keep moisture in the paint from drying too quickly. Make each brush stroke count. Use large brushes for large areas, smaller for detail work. MIST your work and palette FREQUENTLY. You can glaze it with color mixed with LIQUITEX HIGH GLOSS VARNISH I use instead of medium,it is not as white (dries clear) which affects color judgement. Use ARTISTS QUALITY paint, cheap stuff has fillers ,makes good coverage difficult.

    THANKS FOR WATCHING

  • damn how you did those trees were great man

  • great work... tnx for sharing

  • Wow, beautiful painting. You make it look so easy!

I wish I could paint outside but good weather is very rare here in Iceland :P

  • Actually, most of my best paintings were done in incliment weather, the kind of weather that won't let you safely set up a time-lapse camera. Use your creative license to make the scene what you feel, taking your inspiration from what you see. trust your "inner voice" & look hard for those subtle warm colors in cold places and cold colors in warm places then bring them to your canvas... you can do it.

    Thanks for watching

  • Beautiful work!!!

  • how do u paint the sky? I paint myself but I need help with the sky and some on the tree? could u tell me how to layer the sky like u did in this video?

  • Hi, thanks for watching. I used a 3" brush wetting the canvas first with water (using acrylics), and applied a pink (crimson/cad yellow/white) at the horizon line (more cad yellow towards the center. Then using ultramarine blue/white blended a sky making it darker (more blue) towards the top. Then mottled white for the cloud effects highlighted with pink & yellow oxide. Later, it was spot glazed with a thin white/acrylic varnish mixture to add depth & "light". I hope this helps, Best of Luck!

  • ur a genius :]

  • lovely work gary

  • Thank you... having a nice scene in front of you makes it easy.. thanks for watching

  • do you have any tutorials on how to draw mountains in acrylics?

  • I must apologize to you, Florida has no real mountains, so my experience in painting mountains is based on other painters. I did, in 1977 visit Alaska, and DID NOT have any desire to return to the swamps, mosquitos and flatlands of Florida... but salary and friends brought me back.

It is possible to apply the Bob Ross techniques to acrylics to paint mountains, but you must do it much faster as the paint dries far more quickly.

Good luck.... it IS possible. Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks.

  • thts beautiful

  • i love the sky........

  • tHANK YOU FOR WATCHING

  • beautiful!!!

  • brilliant.......well done

  • Where can you get this paint?

  • These are acrylics, which can be purchased at any art supply store and also at Walmart stores. I have an extensive selection of colors, but ALL these colors can be mixed from basic sets. Thanks for watching

  • Thank you! :]

  • have you been to Australia? I think you would paint the bush here really well.

  • awesome ,Mr.garry-A real visual treat to human eye.

  • i wish i could paint like that

  • Nice work Gary thank you for sharing. I just picked up some acrylic paints and had my doubts about what was possible but you've proven to me that with practice good results are possible

  • Very beautiful. I still have problems with painting trees, but I don't give up.

    You're ace.

  • great painting

  • THANK YOU!

  • Don't worry: the music is ok. It fits well.

    The painting is great too!

  • ohhhhhh mhyy@@@!!@ GAWD!!!!!

  • I enjoyed watching your talent of painting and the song is nice.

  • The song was saying "Mi puta madre" that means "My f*cken mother" in spanish

  • Oh Great! This is a song from the YouTube REPLACEMENT songs selection... which is unbelievably limited... may just have to replace the audio track with silence. Thanks for your input, and thanks for watching

  • Oh and your painting was really good, i liked it

  • Thank you, and thanks for watching

  • ...it wasn't till the second time that i watched it that i realized that :P

at first i was to amazed with the drawing to pay attention to the song

  • just amazing *****

  • I loved the daring placement of the sun so late in the painting. Lovely technique, though I privately wish you'd pushed those two trees on the left just a bit more - one more color would have made such a dramatic finish.

  • Thanks, the light was changing rapidly.. as you can imagine with such a large plein air, but the colors in the original are more vibrant than show on this early youtube video. thanks for watching,

  • I'm just dying to take a filbert filled with that lighter green to the bottom of the largest tree. It only needs one swipe.

  • wow·i like this

  • fabuloso

  • well done

  • Beautiful!!!... You make me want to start painting again..

  • P.S.

    REALLY NICE DRAWING :)

  • it's a painting ;-)

  • good old music it is !!!

  • Awsome music choice... is it John Denver?

  • It's beautiful, almost surreal or like I've been there before. Thanks for sharing!

  • how long did it take?

    btw awsmmmmm!!!!

  • Hello and thanks for the comment. My camera (Sony DCR-TRV25) in "interval mode" takes 1/2 second every 30 seconds which equals 1 second of video for each minute of actual painting time. So it took approximately 2 hours to paint. Thanks for watching.

  • oops, nevermind, i saw it at the end.

  • can someone tell me the name of the song??=)

  • Loved it. I'm a rookie and would love to see some videos in real time, but I enjoyed this. I sang along with the song the whole time I was watching. Nice painting too!

  • this makes me want to go to the amazon just to paint :)

  • Gary - how did you get the atmospheric effect in your painting? It's neat. I love how you captured the atmosphere. I work in watercolor - any advice other than coating with thin wash of guache?

  • Hello and thanks for watching. this is acrylic which dries very fast, allowing transparent glazes. So the morning atmosphere is a glaze of titanium white and ochreapplied at about the 2 minute mark in the video. it was just "scumbled" in (dry brush technique), and a few highlights elsewhere. Hope this helps. Thanks for the nice comment.

  • Wow i loved the music, and i love the way you put the image into your art, very nice combination of the art of music and art. Very impressive.

  • Thanks... it was fun to paint. Thanks for watching

  • haha planning to sell that piece of art? its awesome!

  • Thank you! Actually, did sell it already on ebay last year. Thanks for watching
