She isn't that bad but that may be my nostalgia talking. I never really had an issue with the songs in Robotech until I saw Macross and my issue is that the songs in Macross seem more appropriate to the story like "my boyfriend is a pilot" an obvious reference to what is happening in the story with the battles and Hikaru (Rick) and "shao pai long" which is a song she wrote for the kung fu movie she is in. Where as the American version has very generic songs that seem a little out of place.

Once I dove into the magic and truth of the actual Macross series and the sequels (+ prequel) however I strayed. The Shadow Chronicles was too forced to me. They had no choice but to hammer it all together and hammered it became. Its deviant now and lacks the stitched spirit of the original

Hardly, Robotech is all but a massacre of the original source material... Rick starts out as some pacifist dusch, Roy Fokkers dangerous reckless attitude is downplayed... and Minmei is made to look like a total ditz and the leuitenant like a total bitch. The English version follows the basic premise, but in a very hamfisted sort of way.
