He is def. not the new Caruso. Caruso had better technique then that. Sorry imaccheroni learn about tenor history you will actually find out that Cura is no where near one of the best best. You want to know a few they are Placido, Gedda, Corelli, Wunderlich, Stefano, Kraus, and Pavarotti just to name a few.
@elchichiloco That guy has to have cords made of boot straps to sing like that. His larynx is very low and he goes into his upper register (cover) way to early. He better thank GOd for that tremendous larynx, or he wouldn't be able to do it.

Jose Cura started out with a beautiful voice, but he's oversung and developed some really bad habits. Once he starts losing his looks, his career will be over.
Singers should ALWAYS follow the example of Alfredo Kraus. He sang roles that didn't push his voice over the edge, and he sounded glorious into his 70s.
Meanwhile, if Andrea Bocelli weren't blind, no one would ever have listened to him. What's the big deal with blind singers. Being blind doesn't make you deaf!
Saludos.
DmolomB00, Placido Domingo said of Jose Cura than he is one of the best tenors in the last decades. His performans in hard roles fromt eh last 80´s and then 90´s where world wide award. Just look his carrears. He can make really hi notes, and can move lower for very deep notes. Its a very good performan and actor in Opera Theathers. He olso conduct. Its very complete. BUT, dont have to like it to all. Some ppl prefer some sinéers before Callas, Caballe, Pavarotti, Domingo, Caruso, Di Marco..
Dramatic voices are always fighting between technique and power+passion which is naturally in their voices (I'm a dramatic baritone/bass-baritone). Jose Cura is one of the best tenors in the world, a complete musician, and has many engagements as a singer and as a conductor, so please show some respect... Instead of searching mistakes in his singing, try to enjoy it!!! LONG LIVE CURA!!!!! P.S. Hope to see him in Croatia!
Aw...now I think you boys are just jealous that us girls all have the hots for him..!
ANYWAY... as a non-chorus, seldom-masturbating mezzo soprano... This is an amazing voice- I've heard him many times at ROH and in Paris. Sometimes tasteless, sometimes harsh, but bloody exciting when it's right. Tenors like this tread a fine line between thrilling and vocal suicide- that's true Verismo. And to be really crass, those high notes go straight to the loins, Baby! Well worth the ticket price...
Amen! I've read that critics really don't give him the time of day BECAUSE of how he looks. Let's face it; he's the Paul McCartney of opera (Paul being the cute Beatle...I would say he's the Brad Pitt of opera but Brad Pitt doesn't really have a whole lot of talent)
I was fortunate enough to see him as Canio here in San Diego as a CavPag double-bill combo on opening night for $20 (they were selling $20 rush tickets 90 min. before curtain time).
Bravo Cura! Estas crianças certamente terão outra lembrança!
Amazing voice and a sense of humor!
