@CyclingMikey I am seriously considering a recumbent in the next couple of years.. and you have just given me one additional reason... could sway it...;)
@sw19cam I must admit I do like the lowness since there's not very far to fall off, and I like the idea of meeting a crash feet first rather than head first over the handlebars, and I've practiced both, oops.
OTOH there are disadvantages - it's more difficult to get on and off, it's not so good in heavy standing traffic when you're filtering and want to change from lane to lane, and people keep telling you you're invisible (which is so not true).
@sw19cam I bit about tandems is, that my wife can but does NOT fell a bit comfortable riding a bike of her own, so two years ago we hired a tandem just to see how she felt riding that way so she can get a bit of exercise, and she loved it, she actually felt comfortable enough to take a hand off the bar to wave at people. So that summer we ordered ourselves one, that would fit her and my body-sizes. The only thing bad is she can't see around me whist we are riding, I sit-up higher than
@busog97641 Indeed that's a very good reason for them, and I feel a bit of a fool not to have thought of it! (Or CyclingMikey's explanation!). I've been educated ;) also, there was an article in a cycling make recently (CTC) so it's been drummed into my head 3 times now so it'll stick ;)
@sw19cam I am glad you were able to understand my previous comment, because I went back and reread it and it almost did not make a bit of sense to me. But I see that you were able to decipher my words. ; > }
That was a silly cyclist! My bike has a little bit more persuasion to not cycling in front of me, being the chainsaw on the front of it.

@CyclingMikey - does that come as standard with the recumbent, or do I need to head to Wiggle? ;)

Overall it's a huge win for my commute.

@CyclingMikey I saw a tandem recumbent on Piccaddily a couple of days ago...I've always been a bit confused about the point of a tandem!

@sw19cam I suspect that's someone I know, in which case the stoker is of poor eyesight/blind.
