A guy on our street regularly punishes his kids by means of a ‘Spatchcock’. This involves them being splayed in an often painful position between 2 metal frames.
He often keeps them like that for hours on end, and even displays them out in the front garden- a dreadful, psychologically crippling humiliation. The local Police tend to just laugh when they roll by- I heard one say “great to see someone properly disciplining their kids for once!”

I strongly believe so-called ‘parenting skills’ are largely irrelevant to how kids turns out.
Example: there’s a dreadful, drug & alcohol-fuelled family on our road & their son went to Iraq as a private security contractor. He earns a fortune out there- whenever he comes home he always has a sweet new ride & hot 19YO model girlfriend.
In contrast, two close friends of mine were wonderful parents & their daughter ended up being raped a knifepoint, then getting depressed & committing suicide.
I'm 36 with 4 kids, my 17 year daughers has a huge temper, she hits me, kicks me, slaps me goes out whenever she wants tells me to fuck off has thrown a chair at me and i also have a 4 year old daughter she has the worst temer tantrums she hits kicks cries screams and she feeds of her older sister. I also have 2 boys and the 7 year old boy also sommetimes snaps back with a huge temper. I dont know what to do, does anyone have any tips/ideas

The mother looks prematurely aged. I think they waited too long to have kids. They were used to things being adults-only for all those years, and now with the kids, they just want to sleepwalk through it.
Having kids late means that you have more time for them. But it also means you haven't got the energy to run after them.
I hated seeing how that very nice lady allowed her children to just ride all over her, and also allowed them get so bratty and undisciplined. I loved seeing how she then gained control, and how her kids improved and grew happier and more mature. I wish them all the best.
I'm against spankings but... God! Spank your kids If they act that bad! God the first two hit too much! And For Leahs sakes! She cries because the girls hit her!

I work with kids at my part time job, ages 6mo-12 yrs & all I have to say is SUPER NANNY IS MY HERO, her patience gives me patience & her ideas really work. Having no kids of my own I've never had to deal with bad behavior on a day to day basis & now I do, & being consistent & treating the kids equally (punishment or reward) helps curb their behavior while they're with me; I only see them for 2 hours but I'll have 15 kids at a time, it can get crazy! Thanks Super Nanny Jojo for helping us all!

This should be helpful to all parents and help them to understand that even the most complicated of children can be tamed, if you do it properly. It is up to the parents to take responsibility for tranining their children in the way they should go.

Spanking can be used constructively as long as the parents don't get super power hungry. i love supernanny im like only 16 but i want kids and i want to no what to do and what not to do. i love this programme because it helps sort out the right from wrong plus its fucking hilarious at the best off times but really emotional at the worst off times thumbs up for supernanny

@MrChainsawFish YH it is my big sis is only 22 with a 2 yr old and a two week baby - it's quite hard for her - Me on the other hand - i want six - hopefully both boys and girls and to adopt three - but i wan't to be married first and have a career(i wanna be an actress - back up - working in a children's care home) but i don't wanna be married until at least 25 - I hope the best for you two :D xx <3

honestly, if parents actually gave their children punishment, (spanking, swats, timeouts), you know consequences, they wouldn't do this shit. My parents did everything that i listed and then some, and i'm not a spoiled little shit who cries and beats up on the other sibling. My parents taught me not to do stuff like this, my kids are going to get the same treatment. They are GOING to learn how to behave, and be punished if they don't behave

@vampriicange, I agree with you there because that's what my parents did too and they also sent me to my room which I thought was stupid because I played with my DS or I read books in my room. They also took away those objects in my room which was even dumber so, I will never do that to my kids EVER!

I was spanked too and I hated it because it made me fear my parents a little. I didn't do whatever I did bad but I feared my parents. So, I will NEVER spank my kids ever no matter if they annoy the heck out of me. Spanking can be used constructively as long as the parents don't get super power hungry. At my house we were given warnings and we were only spanked when we did something reallly ridiculous like messing with the stove. She would NEVER use objects only hands, and afterwards once I calmed down she would explain WHY she spanked me and how to avoid it.
