To Irideika: how 'unfortunate' it is for you to be so clueless as to not have any idea about the necessity for Melody to wear the sunglasses and use a cane subsequent to her serious automobile accident. You didn't notice she also wore them during the recording of the music? Duh? She talked about the accident in this very video. A rudimentary scan of her bio/videos would have provided the info. So get over your judgmental self.

Lighten up Liz! I normally agree 100% with Irideika when it comes to people wearing shades in interviews. Melody Gardot has a very good reason for wearing them, but she's a special case; Jack Nicholson is not. Irideika did not know this, but you could have just pointed this out instead of resorting to name calling.

Umm, we weren't posting on a Jack Nicholson video, were we? Irideika took the time to post judgmentally about Melody, yet took no time to find out why? This brave girl stood there leaning heavily on her cane while she sang, talking freely about her accident. Good grief! Sorry if referring to someone as judgmental and clueless about a video they've just seen is 'name calling' in your book. It isn't in mine. I could have been truly insulting but refrained. How do YOU know he/she 'did not know'?

..true, I'd prefer to ignore the ignorance, but when this particular brave young artist was being reamed out in public by one of the ignorant for 'daring' to wear sunglasses while singing and being interviewed, I chose to defend her with the facts. I believe in the premise that if one ignores falsehoods, one is thereby condoning and therefore perpetuating the lie. It behooves us all to tell the truth whenever we see untruths and not allow gossip and innuendo to be perpetuated upon another.

While she talked about an accident, at no point during the video does she mention her light and sound sensitivity. True, it would have served Irideika well to have learned a little more about Ms. Gardot before posting, but calling her/him (still don't know) clueless is definitely name calling in anyone's book. While it's true I don't know positively that Irdeika did not know the facts, I would be willing to bet on it. I suspect they feel pretty bad about it without any added nastiness.

Saw her live last week at The Stables, England. Bought the CD - chill out. Awesome talent - perfect phrasing. The trumpet players are something else - lovely old 'late night' muted sounds. Makes a change from saxes. See her live if you get the chance - she doesn't do many live gigs due to her injuries. Gutsy lady. Respect.

Every returning Iraqi War Veteran with a traumatic injury needs to listen to Melody in therapy...since she has gone through the whole nightmarish process of "losing her old self" and creating her new self...using her musical gifts, she will give ENORMOUS hope to the veterans who are all but forgotten.
