When a gay couple decides to get married, both parties think it over and agree to it. It's mutual. But if a man wanted to marry his dog, well, that's his desire only. Where's the dog's say in this matter? When during this entire process can the man actually get down on one knee and ask his dog to marry him? He can't. And that's the point. It's not a mutual desire.

One more: Additionally, your married spouse has certain rights once youre married such as the right to make decisions for you if you're in the hospital. Do you really think that a dog or a child can make those decisions for you? No. Can a child/dog help you raise your children? No.
As for polygamy, even though it has been acceptable in the past, it wouldn't make sense anymore. If you're in the hospital and your spouses need to make a crucial decision but can't agree, then what? You're screwed.

Marriage IS a legal contract. Can your dog fully understand this and agree to its stipulations? Of course not. Bringing up such a ridiculous notion speaks volumes about your intelligence. I neither favor polygamy, or condemn those who practice it. It was around in many societies long before our nation was every conceived. I'm on the side of consistency. I'm basically saying that EVERYONE says that a marriage is for 'these' people and NOT for 'those' people. If the same-sex crowd tells me I can't marry my mom I ask Why not? B-c they find it icky? As soon as they forbid me, they end up doing the same kind of thing the traditional marriage people do. "U can marry, but you gays can't" vs. "U gays can marry, but you polygamers [or whatever, fill in the blank] can't". Until one sees this they r just as much a bigot
