Snape is hero, the twist to the end of HP&DH blew me sideways, but i agree. Voldemort is far more accomplished than snape, even though snape is a brilliant wizard, i thought JK Rowling would have at least given Snape a bit more glory, least allowing him to defend himself for a bit. He wasnt even killed my voldemort, but by the snake nagini. I thought that was bit of an insult to snapes skill. He should have at least duelled voldemort!

Or you could read the last book and find out that Dumbledore knew that Draco had to kill him. Dumbledore was already dying from a curse that had been placed on him after trying to destroy a horcrux. He had snape try to get rid of the curse but was only able to temporarily keep it away. Dumbledore had a year to live and snape needed the trust of Voldemort, So Dumbledore decided to have snape kill him in replace of Draco. That was why his Avada Kedavra was blue. The color changes by the intention.

@knightsofIRE No he couldn't because of the prophecy. He knew that "Neither one could live while the other survived" and so he knew that Harry must kill Voldemort. He had agreed to help Harry as he loved Lily and so he had to let Harry kill Voldemort due to the prophecy. Also I think Snape saw no purpose to remain in the world any longer not without Lily so when he died he could join her so as Ron says in one chapter of DH "It's all fair in love and war" good idea tho

And because of those things Harry calls him Albus Severus xD
