Where does the edge of the tool need to be in relationship to the center of the mirrorblank? So there is overhang on the one side of the blank and on the outer side it is near the center. How near?
The marble tool must work better with plate, tried it with a 10" quartz blank and ended up having to go back to a tile tool from 12 mike to 220 when the marbles were coming unglued and left several scratches (gouges). Probably because plate works much faster than quartz, your tool lasted through the grit stages.
Pretty neat. What exactly is the substrate that you are grinding? I know it says plate glass, but what is it that's reflective. Also, do the glass marbles work as a grinding surface themselves, or is it more of the grit that you put on? Obviously, I don't know anything about this stuff. Thanks!
Hi Francis, love your videos! Yep your right, 85 RPM is too fast for a 12" blank. Since this video I've slowed down to about 45 RPM and am no longer slinging grit every where. Thanks for the suggestion!

Great movie, perhaps you could put some foucault or ronchi test of a mirror you grind.

Hey Jim, Great MOM video. Like the idea of the flattened marbles.

That's a pretty neat video. Thank you for posting it. 85 RPM seems a little fast. I'd like to see how the mirror reacts. Regards, Francis J. O'Reilly
