  • I agree with sverigregrabb that Katisha is not sufficiently decayed. Koko is good and even had me convinced with his "logic" about execution. The stage is awfully bare in contrast with the opulence of the costumes.

  • ha, I played Kaisha when I was 17! Defo not decayed either!

  • Great version. Once again, excellent music/lyrics balance. Neither drown each other out.

  • @Johnmartine63 Really? It was kind of hard for me to hear Katisha in some parts...

  • If that is so,

    Sing derry down derry!

    It's evident, very,

Our tastes are one. -- these are the correct lyrics found at the Gilbert & Sullivan archive.

  • To luvaluva1988: Yeah, I think you're right. (I was probably going by what I'd *formerly thought* it was, years ago, when I hadn't read the script yet. Sometimes my mind reverts to old times. By itself/of its own accord. ^_~) (I think it is probably "down", not "don" [because "derry down" etc. is common in English folk songs, so they (Gilbert and Sullivan) were *probably* using that. Otherwise, though, I think you're right (and it makes more sense that way, anyway! ^_~). =^__^=
  • Hi there,

Could you please upload; "Our Great Mikado Virtuous Man"

  • This has long been my favorite song in The Mikado.

  • "If that is so, sing derry down derry, it's evident very, our cases are won. Away we'll go and merrily marry, nor tardily tarry till day is done." ^_^

(Yes, I do actually know [some of] the words. ^_^)

Stay tuned *after* the song...the video isn't over yet, and Katisha gets more Katisha-like afterward. ^_~ (Although I do agree [with sverigregrabb] that *in the song* she *isn't* very Katisha-like, and that this Ko-Ko is better [at it] than she is. ^_~)

    "Mercy even for Pooh-Bah..."

    ^_^

  • I think it's actually "If that is so, sing derry don derry, it's evident, very, our tastes are one...." and then what you posted. :P

  • Great song!

  • Ahhh!!! Its the BUNCO boy. Great Video

  • Nick Hollands makes an excellent Koko (refreshing that he's not portrayed as either mosquito-like or effeminate!), and he's particularly good here--this is such a wonderful and difficult number. Luescher is not at her best here, nor is she grim enough for the role of Katisha. Her crystal-clear voice, too, is wasted.
