  • I too have caught my first wave at age 14, in New Smyrna Beach on the Atlantic side during a vacation. It was a great experience. I am going to live in Florida some day, and catch waves every chance I get. I can't stand to live away from the beach.

  • wow this is a great day for the gulf

  • @Floridasurf10 ikr! very few days are there swells

  • @floridabeachhunter have you ever made a good video in clearwater beach? i know right now its decent for the gulf 2-3 feet

  • Respond to this video... venice fl,when it breaks everyone all over it!,after living in Nor cal, went back and some ass wanted to start a fight! too crowded for for the quality!!!

  • @BarryUkester venice FL south jetty

  • is this near sarasota??? cause we might be moving there and if the waves are like this thats fine but someone told me there very small.. .

  • @redskinswr89 Yes, this is in Sarasota County. This is one of the best spots.

  • @floridabeachhunter ok great thank you

  • @redskinswr89 your not gonna see this kinda shit but maybe once or twice a year and for short periods of time

  • lol... snaked @ 1:28....

  • those are some pretty good waves for the gulf...good longboard waves for sure. i usually drive to the east coast myself.

  • im 14 i surfed today and it was the first time i stood up on a board and i live in florida i was so happy XD

  • @TheAllaroundgamer Hey, that's great. I remember the first time I stood up on my board. I was 14, just like you. It was a great feeling. Go surfing as much as you can. You'll look back on these days as the best days of your life. Don't forget to protect your skin from the sun.

  • @floridabeachhunter ya i went today at nsb and got burnt, to bad the surf was terrible tho

  • @TheAllaroundgamer thats sick dude. i was so stoke when i first learned. dont ever lose ur stoke man cuz thats wat keeps u surfing

  • @TheAllaroundgamer Youv'e got surf Stoke

  • is florida good for beginer surfers

  • @newyorkkkful --i say yes and no. no because the majority of our surf is wind chop. the waves move faster, come at somewhat different angles, no timing like the sets in a swell and the rides are short. yes because the waves are smaller, shorebreak on SANDY beaches, ( you will appreciate this when your face is in it. ), a cumbersome wetsuit is not needed most of the time. i think it's good to learn here. learn to adapt. kelly slater & lisa anderson from here. BOTH world champs. ADAPT.

  • Love seeing those gulf waves... I used to be a Bradenton Beach local for years. Thanks for posting!

  • @babachewbaba yeah i was too ever surf beech street?i surfed the sandbars in front of via roma resort

  • Definitely a fun place to surf. I was out there for one of the hurricanes in 2006 with my buddy who i worked with who just had his board custom painted of this pirate scene. Was an amazingly clean surfing day and we had a lot of fun.

  • South Jetty, Venice Florida. Just down the road.

  • @zenaku680 We are thankful for whatever waves the Gulf gives us.

  • looks like fun

  • Wet suits eh

  • That's definately south jetty on venice beach

  • what r u talking about ??

  • No its definitely the keys.

  • have u surfed ft. pierce??

  • looks fun

  • there are also many shortboarders

  • that looks like a lot of fun. I can't wait to try surfing.

  • go to east where melbourne is the waves are 20 feet now

  • Did you also know that Floridas coast is so long it has a lot of secret places still....I saw amazing places on the Tour Floridas Coast DVD

  • ok? did u surf in fay?

  • Not very often. November thru March coldfronts or when a hurricane is in the Gulf.

  • awesome video. I live in Fort Myers and am just starting to surf. Would you mind telling me how often conditions are like this, and when is the best time of year? Thanks

  • nice waves i went today 8/21/08 and it was all big choppy mush

  • I love it:)

  • thats south jettie in venice.. my homebreak

  • chewck out all my videos at thebombdigityfresh

  • pretty excellent waves. I saw briefly the town Cocoa Beach brought up. I grew up there and that is where I learned to surf. Kelly Slater also. The waves were rarely that nice though. Those are some nice breaking waves.

  • cocoa beach is awesome!

they get bigger swells then the gulf.

  • same! im from toronto and i went there last year! lol we saw manatees sun tanning!

  • great vid dude, love hearing the ocean and not music

  • small waves but the small waves are funny

  • Cocoa Beach also has good surfing!

  • those waves had plenty of nose ride potential....Aloha from Makaha!

  • This is NICE!. Don't get down to south Florida much, but it looks like I might need to pack up the board and take a roadtrip. Nice smooth waves, non crowded beaches...paradise!

  • Nice waves I surf at Ormand beach

  • what part of the gulf is that? the parts that i surf in have always choppy waves

  • wow! sweet swell

  • nice video, very well done with the transistions :)

    5/5 :D

  • when was this. i would have killed, litterly, to be out there. i live in west palm bech and knee to waist chop is like gold to us. we are so desperate.

  • December 2007. Seems like it would be quicker for you to just drive up to Sebastian or Cocoa Beach than to come all the way over to the Gulf.

  • Finally a video with the natural sounds and not some repeatative indie-grindcore/alternative rock that is SO over used on vids like this.

Hrmmmm wonder where this was at? : )

  • South jetty, Venice, FL.

Yea, I usually just turn off the sound when they have that "music." Every once in a while someone does a nice job with the music.

  • Wow! Even more cool that you told me where that was at.

I understand the apprehension at not wanting to give spots away but I, unlike I guess a lot of surfers understand the etiquette and never intentionally try and snake or cut off.

    Thanks man!

  • nice video

  • o dude thats sick
