In hard times, this song was a big help for my life, but in Spanish version. This song its our teme of the Acounter married. It say MUNDO NUEVO (New World) sorry for the ortography. Raúl from México. ¡Viva el Encuentro Matrimonial Mundial!.
same. it's so deep, touching, and "pure". the lyrics are great, and the music is well done. my mom was looking it up one day, and when i heard it, i loved it
I have asked Judith Durham in a fan site she posts at but I suspect she doesn't read every one of the thousands of comments that people leave ... at least I never got an answer.
I had always thought this was just another love song (and a great one) but now I'm not so certain. Think about the lyrics, is Judith possibly singing of Jesus?
This is a great love song. Allusions to current political circumstances in the US are several levels below it in any existential or esthetic sense. It has stayed with me deeply since university days in New Haven 40 years ago, through grad school with the poseur mentioned below, and resonates today.
In the long history of modern pop music, only a few songs stand out as true classics; this is one of them. I had it played at my wife's funeral, the entire church stood up and sung.
Funny.... I lost my hope that day. Just a bunch of empty rhetoric and no substance. He will spend money (we don't have) and we will become more socialistic. I will continue to ask God to send us a real leader with the courage to do what is right. Thank goodness It's only 4 years.
This song kept coming to mind the other day when Obama was elected. I know it's sappy, but I think it speaks to the hope and goodness he represents and which he elicits from us all...all around the world.
I have been looking for this song for ages. Thank you so much. It brings back memories of a better time. Even though it was before my time, this song was very much a part of my youth.

It just does not get better than The Seekers. My life would be poorer if I had not heard them.

The Seekers will never be surpassed. Don't try to look to deep into the lyrics - this was popular music.
Thanks for the video.

Bondiharry: you would have to ask the songwriter Tom Springfield (seen in this video at the end w/ the recording engineer)

Exactly. We've elected a loose suit. Promise the world! The media has put more stock in this guy than Jesus Christ.
