  • Way to go.. ur blessed to do watever you do howeva u do it :) --RE

  • nice beat, a little to jazzy for my playing but still good

  • i recon the reason he is so good is cuz he CANT leave the kit lol

  • and as you progress you will understand the real names of the rudiments you are playing. inverted double strokes. i also saw no flam taps in this.

  • @kylosme how would inverted doubles look like or sound like? i never heard such a thing.

  • @ImaFez RllRRllRRllRRllRR thats an inverted double stroke roll. learn it love it live it.

  • @kylosme its still doubles. just placed in a different sequence. not really inverted in my terms.

  • @ImaFez its the same no matter what. RLLRRLLRRLLRRLLR inverted roll thats what it is and thats what its always been. and you basically described an inverted roll. doubles just placed in a different sequence. thats what they are.

  • @kylosme dude i just said that. theyre still doubles, but ppl just call them differently. so me id still just call them doubles.

  • @kylosme They aren't really inverted say if you use your right hand to start off the roll. Because then it's just a roll. It would be inverted if it started with LLRRLLRRLLRRLLRR, and so on.

  • @FenixiaDuo im sorry but your wrong. you start of with your right hand. it goes RLLRRLLRRLLRRLLRR. if you start off the left it goes LRRLLRRLLRRLL. just because you think the roll starts on the & dosnt make it a normal roll. did you see that other vid i posted. look up inverted roll and youll see. the guy plays almost exactly what you play. trus me i know all about rudiments. like inverted flam taps Rl L Lr R Rl L Lr R. Rl= right hand flam Lr= left hand flam. or inverted paradiddles LLRLRRLR.

  • @FenixiaDuo let me brake it down for you. beat one RLLR beat two RLLR beat three RLLR beat four RLLR. R-snare LL-snare RR-tom LL-snare RR-tom LL-snare RR-tom L-snare. understand?

  • @kylosme Look, I've been drumming for over 7 years. I know what a double-stroke roll is.

  • @FenixiaDuo look i'v been marching DCI for 7 years. i think i know am inverted roll when i see one. and you played one. maybe you should have spent those 7 years figuring out different rudiments and patterns. i know i did. i just recently aged out of a top ten corps. thats top ten in the WORLD. so i think i know what i'm talking about. you can be as ignorant as you want about this or just come to the fact that what you played was an inverted double stroke roll.

  • @FenixiaDuo dude i just went thru all your comments and apparently people have been telling you it an inverted double stroke roll for some time now but you still dont get it.

  • It's called an Inverted double stroke roll......

  • look at that big ol fat nigger. what a funny guy.

  • SNL guy is a good drummer

  • That was funky

  • great lesson

  • You tell this dude is a pretty traditional drummer, since the hats are kinda worn out, but the crashes are just hanging there like: "meh"...

  • @flx0011 lol or he polished the hats.

  • you're fat

  • @sithlord116 ucant be calling anyone fat "sithlord" play more Star wars

  • @sithlord116 shit lord i mean sithlord god forbid someone takes time out of their day to try and help other people who actually want to get better, unlike people like you who are 32 years old, still live in their moms basement, and play star wars on the x box all day long.

  • Fantastic drummer.

  • GOOD DRUMMER

  • kenan plays drums now? wonder what kels doing these days

  • You are an amazing teacher with a very plesent delivery in addition to being a very talented drummer.

  • Yep, inverted double stroke roll.

  • what you are playing down the drums is and inverted double stroke the RLLRRLLRRLLRR is an inverted double stroke a true double stroke would have two rights on the snare so that the sticking would be RRLLRRLLRRLL

  • @benemery51 and that's exactly what he says after showing the example.

  • nice job men

  • 2.14 hello bass drum cam. goodbye bass drum cam. thanks for the 3 seconds(:

  • with which hand did he hit the crash on the end of the beat?!?!

  • thxs!

    excellent explaining

    :)

  • nice

  • @theonetheycall1845 hmm t'would not, then you could study all the intricate connections in his corn rows

  • Give me a thumbs up if you think this guy is freaking awesome personality wise and drumming wise.

  • man, ridiculous highlights. hearandplay I really like the end =) Could you imagine that I worked out enough to start dunking! I just followed the a real excercise routine over at (50 inch vertical [dot] com) and did it in just 2 months!

  • very good man simple and effective keep it up!

  • thank you for the inverted drum roll ! can you tell me how slow can be the drum roll???? and if is played whith very very slow strokes with a big space between each stroke, can you call it drum roll???? because i read in the internet "the drum roll can be very slow" and i don't understand this!!! i hope you help me!!!

  • he's actually playing an inverted double stroke roll

  • @tamaplayer22 what is the inverted double stroke roll? what do you mean?

  • @tesserapathfinder a double stroke roll is R R L L R R L L. an inverted double stroke roll is R L L R R L L R R L L and so on

  • @tesserapathfinder thank you for the inverted roll! can you tell me how slow can be the drum roll? and if is very slow, can you call it drum roll???

  • @tesserapathfinder thank you for the inverted double stroke roll! can you tell me how slow can be the drum roll????? and if is very slow, can you call it drum roll???

  • I like this guy !

  • how slow can be the drum roll?

  • hearandplay, wow this is OD. That is spurting from a guy who s 5 5 but finish alley dunks. I followed the dunk training program over at "50inch vertical [dot] com" and increased over 15 inches on my dunk.

  • what is your left hand doing on the snare?

    im stuck..

  • Hey Man...I really enjoy your tips....it¨s very cool....i love the drums too....god bless you man!!!saludos desde COLOMBIA.....sorry for my bad english

  • haha 1:14 !! you rockk man!!

  • eh hearandplay, if you {want|would like|wish|really want} to get better in basketball, you should start {following|sticking with} #RANDSETa {real|actual|genuine|authentic|serious|proper|legit} # exercise system. I used the nba training course here at | 50 inch vertical [dot] com |. I haven t even told this to my college teammates yet hehe

Rudiments, Flam Taps, Stops, and Crossovers Galore!

  • R LL RR LL RR LL RR LL R

is called an inverted roll. It is just shifted by one sticking. In this case the R starts first so its just shifted by 1 "R" sticking.

Look at my sticking above. See the first and last right? Its just a regular roll that starts on the 2nd R hand and continues on being 1 partial (8th or 16th whatever your roll speed) off from the beat.

  • not thats a big boy!

  • Honestly man I think u should really work on being more clear with your points!! I remember you explaining that you were playing a double stroke roll around the kit, but after that you said "Well its not exactly a double stroke roll at the beginning"!! Ok so to someone who was really trying to learn from the video they still dont know what it is you were doing because YOU dont know!! I would suggest a script if you plan on doing future videos! No disrespect!

  • pointless kick pedal cam?

  • @mctuber68 I was thinking the exact same thing when i read this!

  • @mctuber68 Nope, not pointless. the kick cam is in all his videos, it emphasises the fact that he plays single beats, doubles & triples with a single pedal.

Question is, was your comment pointless?

  • @fuckoffwithaname No it wasnt, since you just cleared that up for me

  • @mctuber68 Glad I could help :)

  • @mctuber68 Everyone has one! Everyone needs one!!

  • @TheDirectorofFoo Haha true! I guess its not a drum vid without one

  • haha u remind me of keenan thompson, nice vif

  • nice !!! but i often get a problem with the hand - foot co-ordination ... :(

  • your a joke bud

  • That acualy wasn't bad

    Idk wat ur talking about

  • slammin!

  • he is SO patronising

  • @SuperDrummerJoe He's teaching. He has to be patronising.

  • what evans head are he using?

  • thanks dude

  • African americans People Are good at drumming..

  • ahhhh ima keep quiet. god bless

  • @carfreak213 yeah but his fills have no groove

  • @SuperDrummerJoe i think he can do better than that

  • The crazy thing is he is the drummer, the original"Jay Z,"show me what you got" before Tony Royster..The actual drummer you hear on the CD is him Bam...

  • awesome. much thanks

  • This little drum demonstration helped me to become a better drummer. Cheers.

  • that dude is fast and i wish i could play like that....... my bro just started teaching me today and he could probly play that but hes a pro

  • Great video! I found one that goes into more detail, and shows more that you can do with it, and the kid is fast as HELL! wtfffffff check it out

    /watch?v=WpKdOD7Sruw

  • whole point of this video is to teach you double stroke roll fills around the kit. Its not just about the sound einstein..

  • Isn't it odd how there are thousands of drum lessons on youtube and the majority of them are absolute rubbish sound and video recordings. Like this one. Which is bad really as the whole opint of music is the sound.

  • so your just hear to judge other people, and your not here for the actual reason which is to learn,i clearly learned something from this video,a new drum fill, and some people are just ignorant.

  • you rock dude now im the 2nd best drummer in my class!!!!

  • nice vid!

  • because they like the punchy sound and don't want to hear all the overtones,,, duh ;O)

  • I don't understand why so many drummers play their kick foot beater right into the Skin Muffling the skin and defeating the purpose of a Resonating drum. Do we do that on our toms or snare? .. no..we are taught to play "off the drums"..

Perhaps he's just going for that punchy/hip-hop kick sound.. Not sure.

  • its heel-up vs. heel-down. 2 diff styles

  • That has nothing to do with rebound.

  • resonating drum kicks are very... very noisy

  • nice sounding drums. i like the inverted doubles on this lick. thanks man!

  • THANKS !!!!KEEP ROCKIN

  • His grip on the stick is sloppy, needs to rotate his wrist more so the thumb is not up.

  • maybe its just french grip?

  • For him grip is good, that works for him!

  • great drumsound

  • in one of my videos i use the crossover he shows

  • worty ...thanks mt drummer u r blessed...u have teach so many people at least something good.god bless you

  • All his lessons are great, but he dont explaine the groove he is playing(moslty always the same). with other grooves it sounds a bit weird.

I would like to so explained the groove, iff that is possible.

  • ¨*see the

  • HEY HEY HEY!!!!!!

  • what's going down y'all?

  • anyone know exactly what evans heads hes usin? like e2 or g2

  • dude fat ALBERT is a character from a tv show

  • dude, shut up! it doesnt matter if he's fat!

he's really good and you don't judge someone from what they look like but what their talent is. if you don't like that he's fat, then go away!

  • lol u know u called him fat alot. but he is really good

  • I heard this is the dude thats drumming on Jay-Z's "Show me what you got"

  • v nice taking it to the kit, thanks dude

  • if youve never played the drums... then how do you know its a good lesson? why do people feel the need to comment on things they dont know about....

    whatever.

  • incredibly good lesson my brother, thanks, ive never played the drums before,i started playing acoustic guitar 1 year ago,i still suck.

  • what the hell you being rude for. he probs earns enough money to own gym so shut the fuck up you stupid prick. He is a great drummer and your obvs shit at it because you have to insult someone who trying to help drummers! so you carry on with your remarks you wont get anywhere with them you pompus prick!

  • NOTORIOUS!!!

  • Iron Cobra

  • Your bass drum sounds sweeeet!

  • Good drummer, just needs to work on those rudiments

  • nicee.

  • ur toms sound like poop

    good drumming though

  • lol poop

  • Groove is KING my man! Nice and smooth.

Unhurried execution. No tentativness, no impatience.

That is some nice as shit drumming.

  • nice lesson thankz

  • he needs work on the bass drum

  • Yeah, he's choking it by holding the beater against the head.

  • If he's doing it on purpose, why?? It sounds so terrible.

  • No, he's doing it on purpose, and it makes complete sense for his "true" style of playing. He's a gospel drummer (like Tony Royster Jr, Aaron Spears, etc.), and that style of drumming uses kick drum head bounce, to do sort of an "echo" (or delay) sounding technique. The patterns are usually based on 16th note triplets tied to 8th notes, and involves very precise muscle control, in order to achieve the dynamics. Choking the beater, is part of the technique! It generates the "soft" hits :-)

  • Type this into the YouTube search field "GERALD HEYWARD & HIS FUNKY POCKET IMPROV!!!", and you'll see what choking the beater allows you to do! There is no second kick drum pedal on that video :-)

  • your a fucking idiot this is a learning video not a show off and this guy doesnt has a double pedal

  • hip hop brother

  • pro groove

  • Haha i dig it.

  • Now just learn how to tune!!!

  • I like it!

  • In the first groove example at 1:16 the fill doesn't fit on it because your groove is a shuffle. I would add an accent on each first hit of the fill.

The second groove at 1:28 which is not a shuffle fit perfecxtly with the fill.

By the way nice groove and fill I love it.

  • I love this guy's beats man!!!Everytime I hear them I go like DAMN!!

    SPEECHLESS!!!

  • VERY NICE MATE

  • Great!

  • hes almost as big as his set

  • whats this guys name i love his drumming style

  • 1500 or nuthin'

  • It is actually Kennieth "BAM" Alexander of 1500 or nuthin'

  • nice vid....whats challenging is aging out from dci and not quitting like 98% do.. and play full time...thats hard...

  • I want to see him play on his tummy.

  • LMAO....

    good video
