Just a thought, it will be easier to get this technique down by starting out on string 1 on upper most frets and practicing the shape over and over there. Then progress to other strings and repeat indefinitely on each before you start trying to make the transition across the entire fretboard sequentially.

I consider myself to be on par with known big league shredders but my skill set is small/inferior in regards to broad reach shapes. I'm used to finger tangling arps.

Well, (in response to Chris) Shawn Lane was really the first one to extend stretching beyond traditional limits, along with Allan Holdsworth (to some extent), and, the camera quality is very bad, so I can't tell, but Rusty Cooley's technique is to usually pick on the way down and do legato as most people would say doing pull off's descending, but if it's all hammer ons, I believe he's picking each one, but like I said, hard to tell here :\ sorry bro
