I've had just AMAZING Compatibility with programs that run all the way back into windows 3.1 programs, and near perfect win 95 game support (for the games I happen to have) natively or intuitive adaptive (auto compatibility settings) and I love how they improved it.

Kids can't live without their precious windows. I remember the days before OS's period. I grew up on a Commodore 64 and later a Amiga 500, then a 486 PC. I remember having to load games using basic, or using DOS commands. Kids are spoiled with OS's these day

So my opinion still stands: XP = HOT! Win 7 = NOT!

Oh well, I tired. I don't have Windows 7, my parents have it on their laptop so that is the only experience I have with it. I just recalled MS bragging about the Win XP mode and figured it worked like they claimed. Sorry.

As for system specs, nice specs, you need a bigger HDD though, I couldn't live with 250GB. Hell my PS3 is almost out of space and that is 160 gb

The thing is though I recommend using Windows 7 only if you're - I don't know - doing graphics rendering, or be a programmer or business stuff and NOT for gaming

It's going to depend a LOT on your hardware, and what you're running. Typically you might get more FPS out of XP, because it's a less advanced OS, but the differences are going to be negligible. Typically when you launch a full-screen app like a game, all the CPU and RAM resources are directed towards it. I've noticed little difference in FPS between XP, Vista and 7 in my time. Games are more dependent on video cards and RAM than the OS of choice. I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh God no, it's wonderful for gaming! Don't forget, W7 runs DirectX 10 and 11. it was built for gaming. It even slaughtered Snow Leopard running side by side on the same Macbook machine. W7 was bootcamped, and completely annihilated it on gaming.

From my side, I can safely say that W7 has all the speed of XP, plus enhancements that XP will never have. It's an all around better OS in every way.

Windows 7 is smaller in size than windows vista, not smaller than xp, because it has more features, a better kernel, better looking interface etc. and more drivers.

Windows 7 is the way to go for NORMAL computers. and with normal, I mean 2+ Ghz dualcore and quadcore machines with at least 2GB of RAM and at least a 250GB harddrive. with such specs, windows 7 is fast as hell, its even fast on 1.6Ghz, 40GB, 1GB ram

I had to uninstall all of the HP programs except recovery mananger because they were slowing the system down very much, but it's still a bit slow.. but better :D

windows 7 also automatically adjusts the picture aspect ratio to fit your monitor in video games.

Like if a games native resolution is 800x600(4:3) or 1024x768(4:3) and your using a widescreen 16:9 or 16:10 monitor, it will fit that 4:3 picture as 4:3 instead of filling up the whole screen and squishing the image... fan fucking tastic!

Fries(OS) will taste good (work) without ketchup (the internet) but it won't be great, but french fries(OS) with Ketchup(internet) will be awesome. FPS on online games can vary depending on bandwidth and how many people are playing the game on the same host server. I wouldn't go as far as saying that Windows 7 increases that. If anything it may have freed up some space or something, freeing up some virtual memory, making the program/game itself faster.
