Superb job on this! Your work definitely adds to the original footage and the remastering is pristine. Thanks so much for posting! (And ditto on the vibraphone.)
I am tending to enjoy this Track more & more Like a lot of things in Life that I "catagorize", initially I thought, ( "jumping to conclusions") that the song is "too heavy-handed", plus, and with no disrespect intended, too Germanic(!) thus lacking subtlety" I've had to eat those words, because "Duel" has "grown on me",as the saying goes, and I now really enjoy it ,admiring, amongst other things, the somewhat classical(?) nature of the melody & this "Outfit's" excellent video! Good one!!!
LMAFO... I have been there but it was when they would try to have a reunion party... i also lived right down the street. Now that i read all of this i know the stories areTRUE....I was of the Club One Rio Room and 2826 Generation when i lived n Dallas.... :) but i do know all about the starck club ...and its amazing music....
A Secret Wish, first German CD 9-track pressing, remains my favourite album of all time, 19 years running. It's the one clocking in at about 52 minutes. :)
This version is "Polish", actually. There is, of course, the alternate extended version, the "Beta Wraparound" which is a bit more experimental in the AoN vein.
I LOVE the Wraparound, prefer it actually, especially the Final Wish ending. But this is the mix Rick played and I fell in love with it. This mix epitomizes the Starck Club for me: cutting edge and mesmerizing, yet elegant and sheik. You never forget your first love.
Then again, don't get me started on "Machined" as being another fascinating interpretation. The Seven Remixes in 1995 were not bad given the time period.
I sorta now cannot get my mind away from Pookah Makes 3, thanks to you. I still have no idea how I never heard this even once. As an ardent archivist for the last twenty years, I genuinely felt I'd run out of rocks to look under. It carries the vivacity apropos to Nick Heyward's "Tell Me Why" extended version (one of Houston's cult faves).
Very nice images with this song as it captures some of the true meaning of early "industrial" which Propaganda put to such good and very melodic use. One of the best "Starck bands" if ever there was one. So may of their remixes by long-gone mix houses like Twitch and others. And people wonder why no one ever left Starck until they turned on the lights and Bob had to herd people out? ;-) This is one of the reasons, Propaganda.
I never looked at my watch, but I could tell it was close to 4am when "She Sells Sanctuary" played. For some reason it seems like that was the "About to shut it down" track.
